Actually, G. Rap was comin' with gangsta rap before pretty much everyone, he just never blew up with it.

Ice-T released a single called "Killer" in 1984 which was two years before Kool G. Rap or Schoolly D were ever heard of. They banned the song from K-Day. Ice-T was the first KNOWN M.C. to use gangsta rap. Even Schoolly D came out before G. Rap.

Too $hort released his first album in 1983 and it was filled with guns, drugs and pimps which is in essence gangsta rap too.
