Video of Michael Jackson live @ the Apollo
« on: May 05, 2002, 07:41:32 PM »
Hey Guys, here's a short crappy real video of Michael Jackson's performance at the democratic fundraiser last week, Sony told them they couldn't play the whole thing though (Sony's beeing a bitch right now, won't let him promote songs off his new album, etc.)  But you can see a few minutes, as well as an introduction by Bill Clinton

Peace~

Yea, it's definately around.

Rud - see, the deal is... Mike don't owe sony 1 penny.  The only problem he has, is that he's locked in his contract, for 2 more albums, so they got him by the balls.  Maybe that's why he screams so loud.

All these rumours about Mike owing money, selling his beatles catalog, etc. are all b.s., started by 1 guy that works for fox news; the guy posts almost everyday about michael jackson, he's obsessed with trashing the guy, it's kind of sad, really.

In reality, Mike's got a ton of money, his beatles catalog brings him millions and millions in royalties each year, plus, he owns all Charlie Chaplin's films, as well as several other music catalogs.

The biggest deal though, is that he owns the publishing rights to everyone of his own songs.  Back when he signed with epic, then re-signed with sony (who owned epic), he set up a strange stipulation, where he would record his own songs, with his own money, and sony would promote them, and distribute them.  That's why he gets 3-4 dollars on every cd he sells, which is much, much higher than anyone else in the industry.  Most peeps get 1-2 dollars a cd when signed to a major.

So when you hear all tha crap about sony spent 25 million on his album, that's all publicity.  In reality, Mike spent about 15 million, and it was all his own money, not sony's.

Sony's end of the deal is to pay for promotional stuff, etc.  They told mike they'd spend 2 million dollars on his "You rock my world" video, and it cost 5 milliion, so he spent the other 3 milllion himself.  Now, they won't even give him any cash to shoot anymore videos, Plus, won't let him perform any of the new songs live... even though he went double platinum on 1 video with small airplay, and his two new york concerts sold out; and both times they played on t.v., it was the #1 rated show on televison.

He's trying to leave, though, all the fans are boycotting sony, and everytime he's somewhere and hear's them chanting "F&ck sony" he smiles, and gives thumbs up, and things like that, LOL.

Yea... plus, he's bigger overseas than here, so he's sold ABOUT 8 million records.  If he gets 3-4 dollars per record... that's 24-32 million dollars, just off the record sales.

Also, his two concerts in new york totally sold out, with ticket prices through the roof. He probably made a million a show off them, at LEAST.

Plus, he sold the rights to the show for 5 million dollars to cbs... all these 3 are public knowledge, so there's 35 million dollars right there he's made in the last 7 months, not bad, LOL.

I get all this m.j. info cuz he's my cousin.

Nah, j/k, I just find it on the net, I go to a few sites

Sony won't let him perform any of his new songs... because... well nobody knows.  They won't let him promote the album in any way, no songs, no videos, there's even been record stores overseas saying that sony told them they wouldn't ship them anymore copies of the album, etc.  DJ's saying sony told them not to play the album anymore, so I dunno what's up with that, or why.

Next music wise? I have no idea.  He's having a contest right now, where he's written a song, with a hook, and you can write the rest of the song; the winner will have it recorded by him, and them listed as co-writer.

Also, he sings the theme song of Men In Black II, which is pretty big, I guess.  It's some new track, sounds kinda interesting.

Later~
