it's because they had good singles.... Banks had that one pop shit "On Fire" where he mumbles like a bum but everyone loved and then Game had "How We Do" and "Hate It Or Love It" which was another radio pleaser.....

Young Buck's shit was wack, the crap with him rapping in that junkyard, whatever the fuck, that beat sucked and he was pure shit
and fuckin Yayo had some "Curious" bullshit and that one gay song with 50... "It's Tony Yayo up in this - bitch"  :grumpy:

Also have to consider that rap music now appeals to the masses and is more TV and radio friendly. In the 90's rap music was still on the climb, but nowdays it is the music industry.

Didn't The Eminem show sell 1.3 million 1st week ? I know it was out a Sunday so considering 2 days a first week is kinda irrelevant

The Eminem Show first week (2 days) did 284,000 but in it's first FULL week (7 days) it did 1.3 million. Soundscan counts the 2 day period as his first week sales for that album. I think that was the first hip hop album where the date was pushed forward.

"Encore is Eminem's second album to be released early. Its predecessor, The Eminem Show, was released two days early, on Sunday, May 26, 2002. That album, which also debuted at #1, moved just 284,000 copies in its first week — but fueled by a full seven-day sales cycle the following week, the album sold more than 1.3 million."

That can't be right...The Eminem Show sold more first week than Encore. Suspicous...

EDIT: My mistake...didn't see that post about the Em show being released 2 days before SoundScan :-X
