This tour will be bigger than Up In Smoke Tour?
« on: April 12, 2002, 02:49:09 AM »
"Imagine one of the biggest hip-hop outings in history taking shape this summer. It would be dubbed the Triple Threat Tour and feature multi-platinum acts Ja Rule, Jay-Z and P. Diddy. To top it off, each would bring with them their musical families. Representing with Ja Rule would be Ashanti and the rest of Murder Inc. Jay would "Roc the Mic" with his boys Beanie Sigel, Cam'ron and Memphis Bleek. And Diddy and his Bad Boy crew would do their thing. Keep imagining; although it was almost a reality, the tour has been called off.

Last week, while promoting her debut LP in New York, Ashanti let the cat out of the bag that the three factions were set to roll out starting June 12. Moments later, Ja had a bubble-bursting refutation.

"I hate to put the cat back in the bag, but that ain't going down no more as of about 15 to 20 minutes ago," a perturbed Rule said less than half an hour later. "We'll be making a new tour. Scheduling and routing a new cast for you guys shortly.

"It's f---ed up," he continued, venting his disappointment. "People ... they don't want to go on no tour. I'm not going to say no names."

Tuesday night at the Urban Aid 2 benefit concert where all three families performed, giving a preview of what could have been (see "Ja Rule, Jay-Z, Ashanti, Diddy, More Roc The Mic At Urban Aid 2"), Rule's Murder Inc. CEO, Irv Gotti, spilled the beans about exactly who caused the tour's collapse.

"Jay pulled out," Gotti said. "It's as simple as that. We was going to do the tour, we signed off and Jay decided he wanted to fall back and make an album, which is cool. Jay is like my brother, so I'm not mad at him or anything like that, but the tour was going to happen and everything was set. But I respect his decision and I ride with him."

On Tuesday, Ja reiterated that the tour was dead, but he was also optimistic about going on tour this summer despite the setback. "Me and Mary [J. Blige], we sparked some new options," he said. "But if not, I'm fully ready to go out on a Murder Inc. tour and do my own thing."

The Queens MC was confident that he and his crew could pack them on their own, especially since he had just found out that labelmate Ashanti had the #1 album in the country (see "Ashanti Beats Tweet To Debut At #1 On Albums Chart").

"This is why I'm fully ready to go out on my own thing," he added, noting Ashanti's mammoth first-week album sales. "503,000 y'all, holla!" (MusicTelevision.com)

HELL NO! It's an insult to even compare them, lol. I doubt there'll ever be a tour as big & as dope as the Up In Smoke Tour.....unless ofcourse Dre & them do it all again!

I think that if you take one of the 'O's' out of 'Good' it's 'God', if you add a 'D' to 'Evil' it's the 'Devil'. I think some cool motherfucker sat down a long time ago and said 'let's figure out a way to control motherfuckers'.

I don't think their will be a tour bigger than the up in smoke tour in a while. Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Kurupt, Warren G, Nate Dogg, Mack 10, WC, Devin The Dude, The Truth, George Clinton, Tha Eastsidaz, TQ,

How can you beat that?

Hey, Barry Bonds broke Mark McGwier's record almost as soon as he made it. Who knows, maybe this guys will put on a bigger tour as soon as Dre and company set the standard.

My take, I doubt it, Jigga is hurting from Nas and Best of Both Worlds, which I heard was also a flop album according to my commercial friends. (I used them to messure commercial music) Ja Rule might be the headliner, with Ashanti, as Murder Inc. is doing well for themselves. P.Diddy and Bad Boy need something to boost themselves. But in the end, only Murder Inc. is on the same level of momentun that the WHOLE westcoast was on the Up In Smoke Tour after Dre 2001, Eastsidaz, Streetz Iz A Mutha, I Want It All, Top Dogg, Nate Dogg featured on almost every westcoast radio track, War and Peace vol. 2, and of course the N.W.A. reunion and Chin Check. Everyone was losing their minds for that, it was special. This is a hot tour, but can be done again. Up In Smoke's timing was great, and the line-up couldn't not be beat. So it's going to take a hell of a lot to beat that.

let's put thingz into perspective here...

u all thinkin like fans...u think cos dre, snoop, cube and shit r sum of the biggest names in the rap game that no tour will sell out more than tha up in smoke tour...

put it like this...ja rule, jay -z and p diddy in particular aint just got fans of the rap game out there...cos they are more on the pop rap side of things so they get recognision from all genres...and these are the sum of the biggest names in pop rap at the moment.

then u get the fact that dre didn't take all of aftermath, but then diddy and jay-z and shit are gonna be takin all of badboy and jay z all his crew n shit...so theres gonna be just as many ppl on this tour (if not more) than the UIST,

then u put the fact that sum of the biggest names in the music biz together with ashanti goin on tour with them...who has the biggest sellin album worldwide if i aint mistaken...

so then they do it all through US and Canada with as many dates as the up in smoke tour then we get my conclusion:

just as many (if not more) ppl then the UIST who are all big names in the music biz plaus 1 of them has the best sellin album of all genres, they all go on just as many tour dates which all be definite sell outs...

so therefore face the facts and just admit that this tour would have had the best chance of being bigger...if only easily matchin up with the up in smoke tour...

AND THATS THE FACTS AS WELL AS MY OPINION RIGHT THERE....
