The Lakers would have a better chance attracting a good Coach during the off-season depending on what they do in Free Agency. If they do not bring back Pau or they do not sign a decent FA (or 2. Doesn't have to be just 1 Max player) then they should just let D'Antoni ride out the Contract. D'Antoni's thing is taking cast-offs and putting them into a free system where they can "excel." The vast majority of the Roster fits that bill. The problem lies with Jimmy Buss. He has made a lot of mistakes. Mike Brown. Nash 30 Mil for 3 years at 38. Skipping on Phil. D'Antoni. Letting Dwight go without getting anything in return and putting up billboards begging for him to stay. Signing Kobe to a $48.5 Million contract without seeing him play 1 second in 1 NBA game, only to have Kobe go down with another injury 3 weeks later. If they fire D'Antoni, Jimmy won't go with Rambis. Rambis is too much of a "Phil guy" for Buss. He's really just there as a way of saying "we're committed to Defense" which we all know is not true. If they bring in Karl, I think that takes them out of the Carmelo sweepstakes, since I don't think Karl would want to Coach him again. Maybe they go out and get Avery Johnson, Scott or Hollins. Not sure either of the Van Gundy's are looking to come back to what looks like a Rebuilding season. I don't think Jimmy is willing to put his pride to the side and hire Phil yet.
funny thing is, if he'd just let the front office do their job, he'd probably get redemption for the Rudy T hire and be considered a good owner.if he just did NOTHING. this guy has no intuition, common sense, or knowledge of the game.remember about his scouting statement? "get any 5 guys out of a bar and they can scout as much as professionals"a damn straight lie, i never met anyone that i can have a intelligent basketball conversation with. whether if its regarding contracts, foot work, post games, court vision, etc etc.most people dont know absolute shit.

The other mistake I forgot to add was not trying to smooth out the Chris Paul Trade. Instead, he just let it die. David Stern did what the rest of the NBA owners, who he works for, told him to do. Jimmy should've got on the phone, like his dad would've, and spoke to the Dan Gilbert's, the Mark Cuban's and try to make the situation right. Ultimately, dude is struggling to live in his dad's shadow. He's trying to "prove" that he's his own man. It's not working out. Every major move that has happened with the team, with Jim at the head of the table, has been terrible. Until he changes his ways or the team let's Jeenie (and by proxy Phil Jackson) run the team, this is the path the team will continue on.
LOL NEVER THATAND CP3 WAS NEVER COMIN TO THE LAKESHOW...THAT VETO WAS THE TURNING POINT, HONESTLY. HAD THAT TRADE WENT THROUGH, JIM BUSS WOULD CURRENTLY BE REVERED AS A GENIUS AND HE'D BE BUILDING OFF THAT GOOD ENERGY.

See, a sign and trade with Howard would have gotten picks this year. Man, Mitch fucked that up, he should have signed and traded Howard for picks now.
