...they played the old fight on ESPN classic.  Anybody that's seen it will agree.  The ten count for Buster was much slower than the ten count for Tyson, and like Buster, Tyson got up on "9", but the ref still counted him out.  Mike didn't get knocked out, he got knocked down, and then he looked to grab his mouthpiece and then he got up on "9" but the ref still counted him out.

Don King actually tried to put the fight up for appeal afterwards.  I'm suprised more hasn't been said about this.

Anyone else seen what I'm talkin about?

What post are you talking about?  You're a loser on any post, it doesnt matter what section of the forum it's in. 

You say you don't have to know anything about Boxing, then how do you know he got cheated?  You're making a comment, on the job the referree did, but yet you dont' even know the rules of the game, or anything about how boxing works.  How do you know the ref "cheated" tyson, then?  You don't even know the sport but yet you know he was cheated?  How?  Explain yourself.

Your taking this thread way to serious, it's just a sports thread talking about an issue that happened many years ago.

And after the match they had a big meeting about this issue with the promotors, heads of the boxing commission, and the referee, but ultimately they decided that the desicion was going to stand.  I don't know that much about boxing, but I have watched alot of Mike Tyson and Muhammad Ali fights and I like following their carears. 

It's no big deal though, forget it.

i seen it a million times, dont think the ref CHEATED for Buster tho. I mean, when Douglas got up...he wasnt OUT like Tyson was. Tyson couldnt even find his mouthpiece that was layin right in front of his face.

^^^ Good idea.  I'd like ya'll to take a look at it.  Ofcourse if you just got hit like Mike got hit you might be dizzy for a second... and it wasn't that he couldn't find his mouthpiece, he just couldn't pick it up with his glove, and as he was getting up he was telling the ref everything was okay.

In all seriousness. Boxing was built on bullshit and fixed fights. It's the only way to make big money. When Jack Johnson was finally beat by Carnera, nobody cared that Johnson had Carnera destroyed in the points department and would have won in a standard fight. They only cared that the black guy was finally beat by the white guy. Who cares if Johnson was way past his prime and lost in like the 27th round? Not the white hicks that bought tickets. Nobody cares why Foreman never got a rematch with Ali (even though he asked for one and was adamant about it up until the early 80s. He changed his story in '94 and said he never wantred a rematch but I've seen the tapes of him saying otherwise) or why Duran walked out of his fight against Leonard in the early rounds. The answer is all connected to money. They need a white champ to sell tickets to racists, they had no fights left for Foreman as champ to make money, and a Duran/Leonard split would make for a huge 3rd fight.


With Tyson and Douglas it makes no sense to have a loser like Douglas beat Tyson. The money fight was with Holyfield and Tyson which was scheduled already, but Tyson lost a fight he wasn't supposed to. Holyfield then absolutely killed Douglas and Buster fell to the way side and pretty much never came back. Tyson was gone after getting KOed. Anyone who says otherwise didn't look in his eyes. It's not just that he could get his mouth piece it's that he stumbled back and forth to get it. Douglas got up when he was knocked down and he was ready for action. Tyson wasn't. Believe me. No one wanted Tyson to lose to Douglas. They wanted him to lose to Holyfield. When Tyson left Holyfield had to try and rebuild the division. Something he never did. An aging Foreman was the biggest Heavyweight Draw in Holyfield reign, until Tyson came back.

Tyson got beat plain and simple. If he wasn't an idiot and kept his original corner instead of his black supremist buddies in the corner then he would have won. Black power is great if you're looking for identity but don't turn your back on Whitey (Kevin "Whitey" Rooney) when your black power friends don't know shit about boxing. They have been called the most incompetent corner in the history of boxing. Rightfully so.

its cool that u followed mike n mohammed's careers, many people that aint interested in boxing are still impressed by these two guys, like if u go to a poor country where most people dont got tv's etc., the little kids over there still know about tyson n mohammed ali, n dont know shit about lennox lewis or oscar de la hoya etc. n i dont belive it has anything to do with them being muslims.

anyways ima tell u this from a boxers point of view, even if tyson would have gotten up it would have been a tko 5 sec later, they would have stopped the fight. he had alot of heart n wanted to keep fighting as we all can see but, he was finished belive me.
