The West Coast is filled with hate.
« on: November 28, 2005, 08:35:03 AM »
Man the West Coast just doesn't give a fuck. There is way too much hate out here. The music will never thrive out here because of the hate. The West will never come back. I listen to people, read posts, listen to fools in the record shops, it ridiculous. If someone likes The Game-they hate Lil Eazy and diss him and vice versa. If someone is a 50cent fan they hate The Game. People take rap beefs personally, especially out here. In the East Coast it seems they enjoy a beef and give love to both sides like 50 and Fat Joe, Nas and Jay-Z. People say damn that was a good diss, then go out and buy both albums and respect both artists. Out here it seems people love to hate. The South is unified, they all work together, you can find South artists guest shit on every album down there. I used to be on that tip myself, back in the day when I was younger, I took sides in the Eazy/Dre beef, the Cypress/Westide Connect beef and even the Mc Eiht/DJ Quik beef. I would not only talk shit about the other artist, but not buy the records or support them in any way. Now, Im just like music is music. I love the West Coast and I think this shit needs to unify. Imagine Dre working with legends like Mc Eiht, Spice-1, DJ Quik working with everyone including new upcoming artists. Ice Cube taking time out to hook-up with The Game, Snoop Dogg and The DPG working with other artists making good music. I doubt it will ever happen, but anyway fuck it...West-West, late.

"One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree. "Which road do I take?" she asked. "Where do you want to go?" was his response. "I don't know," Alice answered. "Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter."

ROTFL!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the real, I kinda do agree -- hot music should be hot music, and its possible to have love for both "sides" of a beef.  I kinda view rap beefs like how people watch wrestling, its fake as fuck but its really entertaining to watch.  To me, shit like Jay/Nas is a lot of fun, its something interesting to talk about, and its almost like a game on wax.  to me the pac/biggie stuff was mainly a big misunderstanding, and was kinda sad the way it played out (even though that was entertaining too).

Sometimes it gets more serious though, like i honestly do not like 50 cent anymore -- he's mean spirited, disrespects the entire culture and clearly has no problem tearing it down for his own personal benefit, has complete control over the media that covers music-related shit, he's not even ill anymore, etc.  that's why so many people are yellin gunot, he's disrespecting so many fundamental cultural norms and levels of respect that everybody just wants to see dude go down (like blackballing via business shit instead of keeping it on wax, getting people's albums pushed back and making them lose endorsements, etc.)

lil eazy shit is more just funny because he's wack, its fun to clown him and his crazy/annoying ass fans but honestly i wish the dude success.  his fans are more annoying than anything about him himself.

most of the time, beef is just entertaining and a way for artists to show their skills and get more publicity for themselves, and in that context as long as it stays on wax and nobody gets hurt its a lot of fun.  i don't think anybody thought that jay and nas were gonna kill each other, and ether did wonders for nas' career and perception as an artist

If the Game wasn't around, the west would be better off. Game hasn't done shit for the westcoast, besides selling 2 million for himself! The dude is busy in a beef he'll never win, when he should be working on his music, and promoting his artists, which won't see albums till 2007. West won't be back until detox hits stores.

game got attention brought on a lot of these new west cats, his own people like eastwood and tech, glasses malone and everyone that glasses is planning on bringing into the game (if it weren't for game, glasses probably wouldn't have the deal and label that he's got, period), indirectly brought attention to bishop lamont (dre met bishop at a game video shoot), which has increased the visibility for everyone on bishop's mixtapes, j. wells, etc.  if it weren't for game a lot of people would still be listening to the same washed up cats that are never gonna come out, instead there's all this attention on a lot of these guys that a lot of people have never heard of before that really have a chance to shine on their own -- IMO that's a lot better than depending on dre to put out every artist, or snoop sorta pushing the same 3-4 cats that have been around forever.

First of all, everyone in the west knew who eastwood/bishop/tech/glasses were before Game. Second, none of them are mainstream, and none of them are getting attention. You see tech putting out an album? Look at 50, GRODT sold, then 6 months later, Buck and Banks both had plat albums and were daily faces in hiphop. Its been a year for game, and those artists around game are no closer to albums, or closer to selling anything. Game isn't doing shit, or promoting anyone. Hes promoting himself, and thats it.

i just think west rappers needs to put real effort in their music.   Not like dpgc.  I like daz and kurupt..but it was fast for them putting that lastest album.  Too fast.  These rappers need to meaningful music.  This is just my opinion.
