Mobb Deep- Murda Muzik

I always thought this LP was solid. Most definitely "The Infamous" LP is a classic. But I enjoy Murda Muzik as much, or more. Classic shit IMO!

I actually think "Murda Muzik" was where Mobb Deep started going downhill.  It was still a pretty good album, but by that point, Mobb Deep was more interested in crossing over than making great music, and it showed.  "Quiet Storm" and "It's Mine" are two of their best singles ever, and the album had some other great tracks, but overall, it was a more mainstream-friendly sound.  Unlike the stripped-down, bleak production of "The Infamous" and the opera sample-driven cinematic sound of "Hell On Earth" - those two albums were just too close to hardcore rap perfection.  For them to put out albums like that and then decide they wanted to join the pop-thug movement of the late-90s' just felt like a letdown.

Murda Muzik (4.5/5)

I think after that they fell off hard and now that they are with G-Unit there is no going back. They still make good music but it won't be on the same level as those first three.

yeah cuz it was heavilly bootlegged months before the release so they went back to the studio to redo the album again and have new tracks on it

I only count major label debuts to be their first album. Juvenile Hell was indie. Similar to how I don't count Power Of The Dollar as 50's debut since it was never released or Infinite as Em's debut or Incognegro as Luda's debut, Faces Of Death for Bone Thugs, etc.

You a youngsta. Mobb Deep had two singles/videos for Juvenile Hell. I first heard of them dudes from that LP. Large Professor produced tracks from that album, and they had a buzz back then.

Infamous is most def. a classic...its been like 5 years since I first heard it and its still in my main rotations playa..

This album got 4.5 mics, I got all the issues of THE SOURCE around that time.  If it got 4 mics then I got a different issue somehow.

The Infamous... was thier second album.
