Y'all ain't heard Ashanti's single that's on radio and TV? The song "Still on it" feat. Paul Wall and Method Man, over the Masta Ace "Born to roll" beat. The beat is hot, and Paul n Meth rip it, but she sounds average as hell on it. But yeah...her album is basically a remix album with like 3 new songs.

Are there still people who claim 50 did not destroy Ja Rule's career?

As much as 50 had to do with it, I think the bulk of the reasons stem from songs that are no longer catchy, and the common moving on by teen fans. The teen girls that bought up the 4 million or so copies of Ja's second album are now in their early 20s and have new tastes, while the current crop of teens don't want what their older sisters liked, they want something new. That's the problem all semi talented artists face. 50 will face it in a couple years too unless he changes his sound and style. He's already going through it. His second album sold less than his first, his movie lost money, the soundtrack looks like it's going to sell less than half the least album. Look at Nelly; he went from 9 and 6 platinum then all the way down to 3 and 1. And Suit only sold more than Sweat is because of Tim McGraw who consistenly sells between 3 and 5 million copies each time he realeases an album.

True, the only way you can constendly sell 6-9 million a release is to be a huge hit in the adult market. When you release a CD and it is in the teen market, they will grow out of it. There are some exceptions. Eminem sold 9 million with the MMLP and the Eminem Show, and Encore sold less, not only because it was his worst CD, but the many loyal fans who'd still buy his shit no matter how bad it is, ended up moving on. The only way to sell for long periods of time is to change. Dre changes his style when he needs to. Chronic was huge, Aftermath tanked, so he changed his sound and 2001 sold more than Chronic. Snoop is always changing who he works with to get more sales, from Death Row, to No Limit to the Neptunes, his changing to sell more in whatever time his in. I think 50 will have that same mind. Jay-Z was always changing too, from Reasonable Doubt to Neptunes, to Kanye West, he was always a step ahead of the game. Ja Rule though does not have that for sight. His career is based off figuring out the style and then changing to it. From being simular to DMX, he realized no one would buy his stuff, so it forced his change to singing, which was smart on his part, but not good to my ears. He followed the R&B/Hip-Hop fusion era. Then after 50 went streets, he cameback streets with New York, which was a good return back from defeat, but since Irv Gotti's trial, Murder Inc. seems lost, and Ja Rule does not seem to have direction.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Eminem was seen as more of an artist than someone like Ja or 50. As much as Em was selling his life and image he was selling his creativity. Something that wasn't apparent on Encore. Plus Em Show and MMLP came out pretty clost one another so he had a lot of the same teens. Guys like Snoop and Jay have only seen major success with one album each. Dre has two but we all know Em's rise had a lot to do with 2001 selling.

^^^Nah the problem is the internet downloading.Nobody is selling like they used to.Mainly becuase everybody is better off with downloading a cd.It cheaper.Unless youre a huge rnb,pop star or shady/aftermath/gunit you dont sell shit.

The internet was around for Ja Rule when he was hot. It was also around for Outkast last year. If the songs are good and appeal to the right audience, and are pushed and hyped in the media they will sell.
