In some ways I agree with this and in other ways I don't. Crooked was a different type of rapper when he was on Tha Row. I don't want to use the term "battle rapper", but his style was definitely more raw. I know that there are several exception to the rule, but for the most part Crooked seemed to have one style back then. I'd say he has grown as an emcee though. His songwriting ability and subject matter has increased ten fold since he dropped Young Boss 2 a few years back. The question is subjective though, because it comes down to what style of Hip Hop you prefer. If your into that raw underground-lyrical flow, you probably liked pre-Row to Row era Crooked. These days he's impossible to categorize, he's got so many styles that he's in a league of his own.

i disagree

i think Crooked has improved in every catagory

the thing he had going for him before Dynasty/Treacherous?? Hype and potential.  Plus he had collabos with DPG, Snoop, Scarface, Treach, Luniz etc. on his resume to back him up.

since he left Death Row, he's got a song with a few words from Akon thrown on the hook and some mixtapes and a weekly Hip Hop radio appearance that lasted a year.  plus 10000 compilation/guest/unreleased songs for us to hear with no album....

i honestly could care less if he never drops an "album", I'll always look at him as one of the dopest emcees ever and a personal favorite.

100% ON POINT!

Back then he used make dope songs but now all he releases are freestyles which are always somebody elses beats and one long verse by him...  There boring...
And it now seems that since he made so many "hiphop weekly's" that he cant even rap now... he cant make a song...

He has his new track with Akon "Dream Big" and hes talking about his 16 and his haters and his internet bloggers.... and im just like  ??? :-X
Because those things are cool for freestlyes but when your making your 1st single off an album, thats real real bad talking about internet bloggers and all these freestyle subjects...

Im really starting to hate crooked I now...  He used to be dope but now he aint the same...

Nobody even knows what a Crooked I album would sound like...  and Im pretty sure the album is not coming out soon either..

To be honest, i think almost all rappers that were on death row at any point in their career had their best shit while on death row. There are a few exceptions, but for the most part it's true. Crooked i beleive had the better shit on Deathrow but he aint too far off now. The sound is a lot different though, he's changed a lot imo.

Crooked is way better artist then he was on deathrow, he is more complete, deathrow was a school for him , he learned alot there and moved on with that knowledge.

Yeah but his lyrics are way better now.  And to me, that outweighs a dope flow.

"Vegas was also working with new Death Row artist Keisha Cole, and producing Left Eyes solo album when she was abruptly killed in a car accident in Honduras"

I didn't know keisha cole was working with death row at some point.
I guess she was "the princess" suge was referring to...

I'm not even sure his flow is off these days, I think he's just matured as an artist. I mean you can't spit that tongue twisting flow your whole life. I think there's so many fans that are hypocritical in their views on Crooked I. I've heard so many people call him a "battle rapper" that will never make it into the mainstream. Now that he's started to make that transition people are saying that he has fallen off. That's why in many ways it's impossible to please the fans, so it's better off to just do you.

to me its more about the music over all... and a better flow just sounds better ... and i think his lyrics have always been on point tho

he always been a fucking beast on the mic, an amazing rapper but i think at the death row times he had the better beats in my opinion..
he sounds really tuff with the g-funk music behind him...mabye he can get some battlecat, quik or fredwreck production on his album...i think that would be nice

Your on point with this post, when Crook kicks that West Coast flow over a dope West beat dude never goes wrong!

uhuh

i was a fan of the 98-02 crooked I
with that hungry style, rapid flow, great wordplay, funny punches..
but now...i don't know..
he sounds too serious now, almost bitter...but that prolly happens when ya never release an album
every song has something serious/negative to it, some call it mature..i call it naggin'
i haven't heard all of his songs..but after boom boom clap he kept naggin about how fucked up everything is, and how much of a boss he is..
the music industry is fake, but crooked's a boss, the government is fake, but crook's a boss, the west ain't the same..but crooked i is a boss

i want the vicious *step up crooked back, the funny*when you strip girl i'm the hardest rapper ever crooked back the rapid *uh oh crooked i back

LOL@ the guy that said Crooked I cant make a good song. U GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! Dream Big was a great song, and every freestyle he does has subject matter and he rips every one to shreds, maybe ur not listening and just skimming. He cant be touched on the mic right now. And who else did a years worth of weekly freestyles FOR FREE? Crooked is gonna have alot of MC's shakin when he drops, hes cant be fucced with, period.

HHW over "All eyez on me" was AMAZING

"where's your morals? a horrible thing to quarrel about
while theres children living poor in a drought
peep the word drought and see what a metaphore is about
while katrina made it poor in the south
couldnt imagine drowning on teh second floor of my house
making a flotation device out of my door and my couch"
