No new songs.. :(. Any news?
-
Does he ever put out new songs before an announcement of a new album seriously approaching? I ain't worried, he'll be back. I say summer of 2010
-
summer of 2010??? Its too long
-
Well I know Cube just inked a deal to have Are We There Yet as a sitcom. He was overseas touring for a bit. And WC's album is set to drop next so I am sure he is busy with all of that.
-

too long? 2 years ain't too long for an artist of his age. I rather have a very good album every two years than an average one every 12 months.
-
probably making another movie, buying a new house & he'll come back & rep the hood all the same for you, relax. ;) ;D
-
As I said, I can see a new album summer 2010. U know Cube wanna come with a summer banger.

Give me another Friday!!!!!! And yes a new album would be cool too

Raw Footage was dope.
i don't know how he got away with that after making "Are We There Yet?" but overall, it was dope. 8)

That is always the knock on Cube. Somehow his movies should or do affect his music. I have never seen it that way.
-
^ Yeah he's been in a lot of gay movies but he's always stayed true content wise from a musical standpoint so it's whatever
-

my whole thing is, 50 Cent drops something like War Angel or Forever King & 1/3 of the responses are like, "c'mon, 50 needs to stop; he ain't in the hood anymore, why he gotta rap like he still there?".
whereas Cube can make kiddy movies & you know he's got some mansion in LA or somewhere nice & he can still get away with it.
i don't mind, i've never complained about it but i find it interesting a top MC of the history of rap is just "the hood nigga" & 50 Cent is "the sellout who acts like he's still from the hood".

Because with 50 it comes off more forced. He has been chasing that In The Club Pt 2 for years. That hood nigga title is not one Cube is running around chasing either. People would not respect Cube if he did 20,000 more movies like Boyz N The Hood IMO and he would just get caught up in the mix of everyone else doing the same movies.
For the most part, the difference is Cube makes the music not only his fans what to hear but what he wants to do. 50 for the most part makes songs he THINKS people want to hear.

I agree, but another major difference is that Ice Cube was one of the few gangsta rap pioneers, so he is entitled to do what the fuck he wants, he will still be a legend. 50 on other hand, is just another gangsta rapper.
-
That's funny Cube got his OWN label and movie company and doesn't have to answer to NO ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!! 50 LMAO is Jimmy's puppet!!!!!!!!!!! 50 redo this wack ass album, 50 I'm pushin' ur release date back and u can't do shit about it muhahahahaha I'm Jimmy Iovine "Bitch" ;D

No new songs.. :(. Any news?
he's fighting with Mack 10

I AM THE NEW ICE CUBE. HOP AND SPIN ON HOPSIN\'S THINGIE YALL!
-
Cube just said recently that he was gathering beats and trying to figure out a concept for the next record before he goes in and starts the process-which he said was going to begin this summer.
Keep in mind WC, Crazy Toones and Maylay are all working on their projects simultaneously as well so Cube willl be out next year at some point. Plus he's directing a documentary for ESPN, Janky Promoters is dropping, the film with Bow Wow, Are We There Yet TV show, Ride Along movie, etc....
-
Hopefully hes coming with a new record. Hes dope!

On point.
A new Ice Cube album is always welcome in my book, but right now I'd rather hear Crazy Toones' new mixtape, a Young Maylay album and a new WC album before any new Cube material. There's more than plenty of Ice Cube songs from over the years to tide me over.

I agree. There was a dead period of time there after Terrorist Threats where he was not putting music out but he is all the way back now. I will would not mind him, WC and Game doing something together as well. Just don't call it WSC.

same here.
too bad it's so quiet around them

Ice cubes 2 gangster, he could make Barney look like hes going to roll up and smoke your bitch ass cause you didn't do the dance lmao
Ok on the real here is my perspective on why he can do Kids movies and still have creditability:
He does the Kids movies for his Kids, he gave his reasons up front on why he decided to start doing kids movies. As such the fans gave him respect for stating it clear. New cats who are new 2 him won't understand it and will diss him. He's a father and changed a lot from what we heard on his first 4 albums. He was Young, He was fresh off the streets and was angry on how the systems constant bad treatment of the blacks and poor people was going by unnoticed.
As time grew, he grew more relaxed. It seems to me after Lethal Injection he put down the mic to work on his movies, and in working on em he was relaxed, were on the mic hes like he's on a mission to destroy the establishment and fuck people's shielded view on the harsh reality of this country. As such as he grew, the Angry teen in him started to relax as he grew into a more mature adult.
He wasn't thinking about Gangster shit all the time anymore, and started to have a Family and that helped soften him up (its the same situation with snoop). On the mic it seems all that disappears and his old younger self comes back to do it right.
Raw Footage despite having the sound change from his West Coat roots (Well Solo wise he also had his original Roots in the new york sound) kept his same Ideals. We see a Older mature person reflection of life.
I'm 17 all I hear from people my age is "THe guy who did Kids movies?" I put on Lethal Injection its like they got shot, they couldn't believe tracks like "You Know how we do it" They get ecstatic when I put on The Predator.
That's why Cube won't lose his popularity and always keep his credit. Cause his work on the mic speaks for its self. Raw Footage was him being himself, He talked about his life, problems people be facing. He could make a 1000 kids movies, and in the end You'll hear talk about that, but You'll hear the same people talking about his kids movies, talking even more about his music.
IMO Ice Cube is the 1 of the G.O.A.T. cause of what he has done on the mic.Its just how he knows to goes about things, He's managed to let his Acting Carrier flourish with out effecting his music/his Music Carrier. IMO only thing I'm wondering is will he ever Drop another Lethal Injection album lol That's what I want lol Lethal Injection part 2. 8)

It's called acting you lop. You should be happy anyways he makes kiddy movies for your 13 year old ass

yeah, i always had a problem with the "Pioneer Pass" that older rappers get lol.
D-Nice was breaking it down real well in another thread; but D was on point with the "50 forcing it" thing.
& Blasphemy is speakin' that realness; mad youngsters who aren't real into rap or really anybody not really into rap is shocked when they find out that Cube is really a top contender for GOAT.

i can enjoy his music, but i his forced shit can be difficult to listen to.

But do not get it twisted, Cube can and will still wreck shop on that microphone. Like he said "I when I wanna butter the toast, can't no nigga see Ice Cube on NO COAST."
-
yeah but IMO he needs to step it up a lil
raw footage was aite but he can do better than that (with dre, snoop, etc...)

True. Except for a couple tracks that vibe wise for me that did not fit the album, I was happy with it.

yeah btw d-nice
maybe you have some input on this but
whats your input on what cube was talkin bout on that album i mean hes sayin one thing but i dont know...
on these traxx for example
hood mentality
gangsta rap made me do it

I don't get why anybody should be concerned about what kind of movies Cube is doing. If he made "Are We There Yet" in 1992, it would be a different story, but he's older and more mature and doesn't have to uphold a gangsta image and can still come hard on the mic.
I could give a fuck if Ice Cube hopped in the purple dinosaur suit as Barney, as long as he comes correct on his music, I'm cool with it.
-

The simple answer is that 50 Cent has sold out thru his music and Ice Cube has never sold out. His music has always been for the streets.
His acting career is just that. Acting. I don't get why people don't understand that. Its a movie role, its not supposed to reflect anything on him as a person. The music industry is an entirely different thing than the movie industry. As an artist (especially a rap artist) you are supposed to stay true to your roots, which Ice Cube has done by consistently being hardcore. As an actor you want to expand your repertoire and play a variety of different roles, which Ice Cube has done, from the gangster roles to the more family friendly roles. If Ice Cube could only play gangster roles then he'd be a crappy actor with limited ability.

That was a metaphor on Gangta Rap Made Me Do It. He was saying society seems to blame the problems on rap. So it was kind of a dig on that. Hood Mentality is just Cube talking about the mind state of people in the hood and if they want to better themselves, they need to change their mentality.

aite thats waz up, again i figured he wasnt snitchin the rap game out (streets) but damn on a first listen it sounds like hes playin wit both sides
