^^^^I feel you on a lot of that.  Jay is mad overrated.  Black album was alright - it had a couple of classic tracks, but the vast majority of it was mediocre but it had a lot of big names associated with it, and it had the hype that it was his last album so of course people blow it out of proportion.

Here's my thing though:  At this stage, Jay is gonna push crazy units regardless.  He's just at that status level.  I wish he'd take it back to his early days rhyming in doubles and triplets.  Show rappers that they can be them and not conform to what everybody else is doing.  Who's gonna stop him?  He's runnin Def Jam, so it's his call.

Instead it sounds like he's making The Black Album II.  I'm sure there will be dope tracks on there, but Jay has the ability to really do something with this album and it sounds like he's playing it really safe which is pretty weak imo.  I mean damn, how many rap albums gotta have production from The Neptunes, Kanye, Timbo, Em, Dre, etc.  Every goddamn album sounds the same.  Switch it the fuck up.  Come with 12 tracks with prodcution that the world has never heard.  Get Rick Rubin to produce every track.  TAKE SOME SORT OF FUCKING RISK!

exactly it fuckin disgusts me when artists are at the stage where theyre success is guaranteed and they still come with garbage. that ludacris joint with pharell is a perfect example

i will never give jay z props....look at all the singles hes dropped since 98. a swagger jackin dick rider to the fullest,
