not your favorite, but by popular by society as a whole, ex. lots of radio play, lots or sales, lots of mtv and bet play, liked by someone who usually doesn't like rap, etc.

8. Dr. Dre

Those 2 have the pop market on LOCK.
They get more spin's than any form of music today.

3. Biggie, known with 'Pac
4. M.C. Hammer, highest selling rap album ever
5. Nelly, 5 Million
6. 50 Cent, highest selling "real" album with Get Rich Or Die Trying in one week
7. Puffy Daddy, does anyone remember I'll Be Missing You
8. Snoop Doggy Dogg, highest selling debut ever
9. Run-DMC, the first huge commercial act ever
10. Vanilla Ice, 2nd highest selling album ever, still a suburb legend.

3 million for Ready to Die, and 2 million for Born Again, and it's 10 million for Life After Death, which is a double CD. He averaged 5 million sold per album. Eminem sold 3million for Slim Shady, 7 million for Marshall Mathers and 8 million for Eminem Show which is 6 million per album. Any questions.

There is no possible way that nelly, mc hammer, vanilla ice, or ludacris are more popular than dr. dre, or ice cube.  Those rappers had their 5 min of fame and thats about it.  Dre and cube are pretty much recognized by everyone, and even people who hate rap can get down to some of their music and like it and appreciate it.
