The hip hop world patiently awaits, for Rakim, the God of rap to emerge after signing with Dr. Dre's Aftermath Records. In a recent interview with Jerry Barrow, a freelance writer, Brooklyn's M.O.P. said they were contacted by Rakim to be on his yet-untitled album. "I had a convo with Rakim. He said he got a slot for us on his new album," Billy Danz said. "I get a chance to rock with the God." As you know, DJ Premier will produce one track on Rakim's upcoming album.

"We just signed Rakim to our label, straight up. Rakim is on Aftermath, and the name of his album is going to be Oh My God. This is going to be the biggest hip-hop record ever, straight up and coming at you from Aftermath, baby, so fuck all of y'all."

Tha Formula - January 2002

We spoke with Rakim recently and he told us that he and Dre have completed 7 songs from his upcoming album.  The first half of the album was worked on in New York with Premier, Ayatollah, and a few others.  Be sure to check back with us for more news on the Ra album.''
