What should be my first dj quik cd?
« on: December 22, 2002, 12:58:52 PM »
I never really paid much attention to this artist, but I think I'll give him a try (mostly after hearing him on talib kweli's cd...) So, which album do you recommend as the first album I should pick up?

I only have unda the influence.  I like that one but you know what you could get the greatest hits one.  But maybe rythmalism I have never heard it so I can't judge it.  Lil' jay probably knows a little bit more about dj quik than i do so i think its best to take advice from him than me about dj quik

Well he made a greatest hits for somthing didnt he?

Get that if you havnt heard much by him. But get all his others. take it from someone that owns them all. Its worth it.

Oh yeah and Safe + Sound is his best In my opinion. Get that if you choose against the "Best Of".

Yeah, I knew there was a best of.... but I don't really like greatest hits albums. It's hard to explain but they just don't sound right to me, like the songs don't mix together. I guess I'll have to check out rhytm-al-ism and safe and sound then....... thanks for the help

Here are my rankings....

1. Safe and Sound
2 Rhythym-al-ism
3.  Quik Is the Name
4. Balance and Options
5. Unda the influence
6. Way 2 Fonky

The great thing about DJ Quik is that he reinvents his style on each CD. He brngs something new to the table, he always finds a way to improve.  He is clearly one of the top producers in the hip hop game. He is never repetitive. PROPS TO QUIK!!!

but yea just get the Best of DJ QUIk. u can see the way he progressed through the years
