« on: October 04, 2014, 07:21:13 AM »
Been listening to this album a lot recently, and still enjoy it.
What do y'all think about it ? What are your fave Tracks ? Least favorite songs ? How does it compare to kurupts other albums ? And can you call it a classic ?

best kurupt album, undisputable west coast classic... more of a posse album than an actual solo album (lots of posse cuts and features, few solo songs)

that being said, kurupt was past his prime lyrically and he wasn't as sharp as during his death row days, but the vibe is great, the soopafly/daz/fredwreck/organized noise production slap and the chemistry between kurupt and his guests is great. so yeah great album, and a classic as it came out on the same day as 2001 and was part of the gangsta rap resurgence in the wake of Dre's album (the eastsidaz, dpg, etc.)

favorite tracks :

- never gonna give it up
- welcome home
- tha streetz iz a mutha
- i ain't shit without my homeboyz
- callin out names

least favorite tracks :

by elimination, step up (never got into the beat)

Not a classic album, not a rap classic, not a west coast classic...

But you could say a DPG camp classic (that mini sub-genre)

borderline classic, not on the level of Dogg Food because Kurupts lyrics had fallen off by '99...2 classic verses by Crooked I though

Hard to call for me. I mean That record Streez was something I use to listen too every damn day and created a lot of memories with.
Good kid mad city is not something I listen to everyday, a lot of my friends i use to listen to Kurupt with back in the days dont even listen to hip hop any more so in that sense its hard to create memeries
whe you listen to a record at home, in your car or at the gym.

The production on both is diff as well. One is super westcoast Mad city has more depth and its too different eras.

Hard to compare and pick for me
