Looks like they did the album just to promote their new drink. They are not expecting album to make some good sales or to be sucesful. They just kept the fans interested for 2 or 3 years and it helped them to get money with their new drink brand. i hate music business.

And there’s not a single person I know that has bought that drink. I’d like to see the sales numbers for the drink

I'm yet to see it in a shop. And what's the point? Small cans. Sell an actual bottle of gin and let me decide what I put in it!

I'd sooner buy an RBX themed drink called Hibernation Shivers that's so packed with booze it makes me shiver and want to hibernate haha.

I've seen you say multiple times, "snoop's core fan base". What/who in your opinion is snoop's core fan base?

I'm assuming you think the people on here who started with Doggystyle and the Chronic back in the early 90s are snoop's core fan base.

I don't think that is the case in 2025. Yes, millions of people bought doggystyle, but that was over 30 years ago. Every single one of those persons is either 30 years older or they are dead. Many of those people don't even listen to rap music much, or at all anymore. I'm that generation. I literally grew up as a young teen when snoop came out. I don't really know anyone my age who is really listening to snoop dogg anymore.

I think you are mistaken about who snoop's core fan base is these days. Hell, I don't even know if snoop has a core fan base...he is just split up with so many groups of different people that like him for different reasons.

Need that shit Scitt! Get it done haha.

I haven't listened to this album since the week of release. It was a disappointment but not bad in any way. People got their expectations too high. It still pops in to my head but there is so much music to enjoy these days, too much. The whole 'came and went' narrative that gets attributed to projects isn't because they are shit. It's due to the fact there is always something else around the corner.

Anyone who uses streaming, you're part of the problem. It will collapse in the next 5-10 years but at what cost. This will be the last biggest Snoop project we'll ever see I reckon. So just enjoy it for what it is. Or do what I do and plan to just listen to the Instrumental version. Snoop is a Trump loving, opinion switching for money fool. Always has been. I can't even stand to hear him at this point. Absolute fucking turncoat of a man.

Stop idolising these idiots and support people who put sweat blood and tears into their projects instead. Not dishonesty, idiocy and scum behaviour.

Final thoughts:

Missionary - A collection of really clean sounding instrumentals and everyone going through the motions.  For me, Last Dance with Mary Jane is the best song on the album and it is the only one that has any kind of emotion behind it.  I could almost believe that Snoop was being sincere with what he was saying.

Snoop - Sounded great, but it just seemed like he was reading lyrics off a sheet.  Some of his lyrics sounded like they could've been for Dre(you know the lyrics where he is bragging about what he's done or who he is).  It was like he was a guest on every single song. Just the other day, i listened to Buck Em from No Limit Top Dogg and that simple song that doesnt hit the three minute mark but is more complete sounding than anything on Missionary.

Dre - The music sounded clean, almost too clean, like that was his overall focus.  Albums like Chronic, Doggystyle, 2001, and even Relapse put you in a time and place.  Chronic was like that afternoon ride through the hood before the party.  Doggystyle was set at night during a house party.  2001 was leaving that house party early and just cruising through the streets.  Relapse was sitting in a dark twisted room listening to a psychopath have a conversation with himself.  He has produced three full albums since then that we know of and its just a collection of instrumentals for each one.  I'm not sure what happened to Dre after Relapse or even going back to his last big hit which was the Outta Control Remix, 20 years ago.  Maybe it was the money from Beats, or just doesnt care anymore? Trying to reinvent the wheel when he never had to?  The beat change ups really kill the vibe of each song and has been like that since Compton.  I was personally ok with building on the instrumentals with each verse in past songs he's produced, but completely changing beats in the middle of the song is just too much.  I'm sure he has the capability to release some of the greatest work we've ever heard, but it seems like he is past that point now in his career.

Overall - I was expecting something better than Compton and I think Snoop was seriously down to do this when it was announced.  But as time drug on, Dre ended up having the last say in everything and it just took the life out of it.  It just seems like creating this album ended up not being enjoyable for Snoop.  As a fan of their work from the beginning, its just frustrating this is what we get.  I was a Snoop fan before Dre, then became a Dre fan over everyone else.  But, I cant wrap my head around the decision making of this album and that is on the producer.   I let myself believe that we would get either a grown up version of Doggystyle or even a "lite" version of Detox with this release.

They don't mention Dr. Dre and Snoop's drink but there's a market for small canned cocktails.

yea .. snoops core fanbase probably doesn’t exist in fresno, you might be right

but in LA, it’s typically cats who like that signature west coast music …. which yes, we are still out there, and believe it or not, there are people still alive who didn’t just listen to rap as a rebellious phase in
their life and who genuinely appreciate hip-hop as a legitimate art form

thanks for your input tho

Funny thing is...I don't live in fresno...

LA it's typically cats who like that signature west coast music? LA has more transplants than most other places in the USA. You act like LA is full of people who were born and raised there and are ride or die west coast.

So tell me...describe to me...who is snoop dogg's core fan base?

From your post it sounds like you are saying people living in LA are his core fan base...otherwise, I'm not sure why you wrote that. Is that correct, are you saying that is snoop's core fan base?

where are u from? u just visiting fresno for the time being??

what i’m saying is not rocket science homie …. LA isn’t all snoop fans.. but the hip-hop heads out here who genuinely love hip-hop and didn’t jus listen to it as teens in order to rebel against their parents are his core fanbase….  we grew up on that hard hitting signature west coast music and that’s what we love… to act like these people don’t exist and that everyone just listened to rap as a phase because that’s what u know is pretty dense brother.

Why do you keep bringing up fresno? I don't live in fresno, I'm not visiting fresno.

YOU didn't grow up on that hard hitting signature west coast music. How old are you? How old were you in 1993? If you were 3 years old in 1993, that is not what I would calling growin up on something. Most everyone has roughly zero memories of when they were 3 years old.

I on the other hand did grow up with Snoop Dogg and Death row records. I was actually old enough to go into a record store without my mommy and buy a cd or a tape. Were you?

So I haven't bought a snoop album since probably Paid the Cost. Doggystyle is my favorite album ever. Is snoop dogg looking for people who like his music or is snoop dogg looking to sell records and make money?

I'm pretty sure snoop dogg is looking to make money. Most people who bought Doggystyle back in the 90s are not buying music these days. At the most they are paying for a streaming service. I'm very certain that Snoop dogg considers his core fan base as the people who pay for his product. Like I said before, very few people who actually grew up on Doggystyle are paying for albums these days. If you can't understand this, then you are the one who is dense.
