what I don't get is the falloff from Compton's production to Missionary

the only thing I could come up with is his health issues and personal problems took a toll

That and he's surrounded himself with "Yes" men who will not give him an objective opinion on how his stuff sounds because they don't wanna burn bridges because they hope someday Dre laces them with a track.  You look back to every single interview done about Missionary with people from the inside and every one of them said it's groundbreaking, mindblowing, something of a next level quality.  And this is what we ended up with.  Don't get me wrong, it's a nice album.  But no way did it live up to the hype.  Were all these people just clueless?  Did these amazing great cuts they were all talking about not making the final cut?  Or is there something more to this.....?

I don't get the hate that Missionary gets.

Yes, the three tracks that was pushed >
-Outta Da Blue 💩
-Gorgeous 💩
-Another Part of Me 💩

all of them is terrible, but don't let that cast so much of a shadow that you can't enjoy the rest.

There's some terrible tracks on Doggystyle as well, but it's considered a bonafide classic.

-Lodi dodi 💩
-Who am I? (What's my name?) 💩

So the post was "There is not another soul on earth, besides Daz's family that believes that he created a solo album as good as any of Dr. Dre's solo albums."

Nothing about better production, just the album overall was better.  Actually, not even BETTER, but just AS GOOD.  So, based on your personal tastes, because that's all you can really use to determine if you like an album better, there are many souls on Earth who do think Daz created a better solo album than Dre.  Myself being one who thinks there are better Daz albums out there than Dre albums.  And you also think that, correct?

it's not better produced

just has a more enjoyable sound there's a difference

Daz would not have made those beats you like if it wasn’t for Dre.

Dr.Dre is definitely overrated. Musically I find his sound to be one sided. In 2025 I find Jermaine Dupri, Kanye and even Just Blaze better than him

Sorry, I forgot to add (the last 10 years?)

when comparing artists were speaking of their prime years

nobody says jake paul is a better boxer than mike tyson because he beat him as an old man

Cool, so you admit Daz in his prime is better than Dre has been the last 10 years?

not better, but making the style of music i can feel more, for sure

Yes, so you like Daz's stuff in his prime better than Dre's now.  Daz made better music in his prime than Dre makes now.  I agree with you.

it's more my taste .. 90s gangsta shit .. no doubt

but not better produced objectively speaking

Not sure what my conclusion is after comparing the beats.

The Daz beats are classic, the Dre beats are not, but that doesn't mean I can't like them as much as the Daz beats.

I can't count how many times I've listened to the original all those years from 1985 until Snoop's version in 1993. It's not Snoop's performance I'm complaining about, it's the beat. Has to be the worst beat Dre made during his Death Row period. In case you're wondering, I was born in 1971... so yes old enough to have grown up with the original. I'm not here to argue, it's just my honest opinion.

yeah that is pretty wild ;D

the only negative thing about Doggystyle imo is that even thought every track was classic, it was a couple of songs too short

also it didn't contain a Dre verse

those 2 things could be fixed by keeping Gz Up Hoez Down and Tha Next Episode on the album

Assuming everyone agrees that all the rap albums that Dr. Dre has produced top-to-bottom are classics, there's still a track or two I don't like on each of them.

Eazy-E: Eazy-Duz-it (1988)
-I’mma Break it Down
-Chapter 8 verse 10

N.W.A: Straight Outta Compton (1988)
-I Ain’t the One
-Something 2 dance 2

The D.O.C: No One Can Do it Better (1989)
-Beautiful But Deadly

N.W.A: 100 Miles and Runnin’ (1990)
-Kamurshol / outro (counts or not?)

N.W.A: Niggaz4life (1991)
-One Less Bitch

Dr. Dre: The Chronic (1992)
-The Roach / outro (counts or not?)

Snoop Dogg: Doggystyle (1993)
-Lodi Dodi
-What’s my name

Dr. Dre: Chronic 2001 (1999)
-Let’s Get High
