Yeah, surprisingly no Benzino or Made Men joints there...

A lot of bullshit choices there, but it's a surprisingly good list being that it's from The Source.

No one from the Likwit, D.O.C at 134 with only one song (Portraight of a Masterpiece anyone?), no Work The Angles, Right & Exact or Worst Comes to Worst by Dilated Peoples.

It's not a bad list, although I have some questions, too.
You notice how little modern-day-hip hop is on the list?
I'm old school, so that's not really an issue, but I'm missing somebody like Cormega, Masta Ace, and a lot of West Coast shit.
The only way you can fuck with me, is in a orgy.

gotta admit its not bad tho...

...im old skool too so its fine by me...would have been a travesty if some of the recent pop shite was on there...

...dues need to be paid because after all these people influenced (in various ways) the hiphop we have today.

Its great to see black moon, black sheep, queen latifa, dougie fresh, epmd, afrika bambataa, pete rock, public enemy etc on there as well as wu,nas, dre, mob deep, cube, snoop etc etc

the list is quite realistic in terms of greatest songs...some are questionable but you'll always get that :)

1. The Message- Grandmaster Flash

i agree with this one, & Eric B Is President at 36? shoulda been 2

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.

I have no clue why the Source keeps making list taht no one will be happy with. though the top Ol' Skool songs they had were about right. Some order change to everyone list, but like BET's rappers list, it's mostly on point, a couple of bad choices like BET had Nelly at 21, the Source had a few of there own misplaced songs. though I do think Chief Rocker needs to be on the list, to who ever that was taht crossed it out. At a time when only certain east coast artist got westcoast love in '93, like Eric B. & Rakim, Black Sheep, Tribe, Onyx and LL, Chief Rocker blew the fuck up, and was a great song. I think it's up there too.

gee...did anyone notice no eminem? lol

"Stan" was on there

this list is on some bullshit. not to sound like a dickrider but their should have been at least one Paris song on there. Bush Killa is widely recognized as Paris's best song but yet wack tracks like In Da Club & Country Grammar are on there

I agree this list is bullshit, missing tons of stuff. Wheres the TWIN HYPE - DO IT TO THA CROWD that was bangin!!! But yah, Paris raped back when he came out, Devil Made Me Do It, Break The Grip Of Shame some of the heaviest rap songs ever. I'm a honky and those tracks made me wanna kill whitey.

What's crackalakin' Donnie?

They obviously consider impact, influence and popularity when making this list.  That's why you see "Ha" on there and "In The Club" (possibly the biggest rap song ever) too.  And they are all singles too.  This list is pretty good.

And LOL @ crossing off "I Got It Made".
