I don't know too much about the whole thing but I guess people put it together by figuring that in one case you have a pagan moon god named Al-lilah and on ther other you have Allah that loks and sounds alot like the former and is represented by a cresent moon for some Muslims. Obvoiusly I don't have the answer. Only one of two human being would; the one that took the name and subtley changed it then used the paganism to start a new religion, or the guy that made up the whole theory to cause confusion.
