Why Dogghouse Is The Most Innovative Label...Now
« on: April 01, 2002, 04:18:09 PM »
My post is going to start at a time back in Febuary of 2000. It was the time the world got their first taste of Dogghouse Records. Tha Eastsidaz finally had faces and were lead by Snoop Dogg. It was a trio that stepped up for a challenge, but really didn't succeed to the fullest, but they showed something that no other artists were doing at the time. They were showing innovation.

When Tha Eastsidaz came out, there were mixed reactions all over the nation, the web, the music world and so on. It was an album that can be looked as a cinderella story, but the album brought something a lot of people weren't bringing and that is FUNK. With the superb beats by Battlecat and the lonesome cries of Kokane ring through the listeners ears, it's only time before your sucked into their new dimension. Tha Eastsidaz brought something fresh... a new sound, a re-invented sound to the liking of many. In fact as the music plays today, it sounds new, its sound is forgiving and lets us release all the energy we have been stuck with in most of rap.

Today the chapter continues. Yes, Doggy's Angels flopped, but the sound stayed. G-Funk or No-Funk. With new sounds of refreshing vocals over funky beats and catchy-hooks, it only looks like the label is headed in THEIR direction. They aren't following anybody's rules and giving people want they want to hear. They give the fans a choice.... like it or leave it... artists can be best described as artistic....of course.  As the future looks, its looks like Dogghouse/Doggystyle is going to continue something. It looks like Meech Wells might be out of the picture, but time will only tell. Battlecat is still a strong canidate, but Fred Wreck might be their buttermilk. Fred has upped his ideas to a more futuristic sound that people want to label as "Dre." Yes, his sound is quite close to that of Dr. Dre's but its still funky and with a hint of techno. Something Knoc-Turn'al labeled as "Gangsta-Techno." It's the innovation to create and re-create that keeps longevitiy. They may not win the grammy's and they may not get the airplay, but they don't mind. It's just milk and honey. G-Funk, the era continues in this label.... DHGC-4-Life

My Two Cents

^^ I agree with all that up there...

But dont you think Snoop Dogg featuring Ja Rule... especially in these times... is a lil "giving people what they want"

snoop is tryin to cross over into that teeny market, everybody has to get paid. ja rule has probably gained alot more fans now cause of his 'singing' career.

Battlecat is everything but not innovative.....his style is boring, repetitive and nothing great.
Fred wreck could be the main producer of dogghouse, the only one that can save the production style of snoop's label.
Battlecat?  :P

I agree with what you siad about they make their music the way they want it.  I don't really think they are that innovative tho, IMO, the seem like the P-Funk, Bootsy Collins of our generation.  Same kinda Funky songs, just havin fun and shit.  That's all fine and good with me tho, cuz I Luuuuv It!!

Dogghouse needs to release more albums, not 1 or 2 a year, then nothing for another year.....

One thing is sure Doggystyle Records has a good production team. It's time that Snoop's label release some new heaters.

Dogghouse is dope and all, but the most innovative label? C'mon now, yea their beats are usually tight and their rappers are decent, but its still the same old gangsta gangsta shit ive been hearing since way back. In fact, duces and trayz was one of the most unoriginal albums of 2001 content-wise.

i agree w/ BPG tha dogghouse is in full effizzect...just wait, i think E.White could play a major role in snoop's career and westcoast rap...i got a good feeling about this cat...only time will tell tho... ;D
