interview CALI UNTOUCHABLE DJ'S  (December 2003) | Written By: Lil Jay for Westcoast2k

Here is a new artist feature on one of the most promising Dj Crews in LA, the Cali Untouchables. The Dj Crew consists of LA's mixtape king Dj Warrior, Stronghouse Records' own TheDJStrong, and Dj Hideo from 100.3 The Beat & XM Radio.

Dj's are important because while artists are constantly moving around and come and go, Dj's and Producers have more longevitity and they also have the ability to gather artists together which again give them a greater ability to affect the whole scope of West Coast hip-hop. There's alot of upcoming west coast rappers putting out mixtapes to showcase their work but very few Dj's that drop mixtapes and get their name out across the country & overseas. Dj Warrior & TheDjStrong are one the few Dj's holding it down on a major level. They did that with their latest mixtapes "Ill Street Dues Pt.1" and "h:I.V: Vol. 2 The Cure (hosted by Dj Babu Of the Dilated Peoples)" respectively.

If youre into mixtapes you will be familiar with them from earlier mixtapes such as the Cali Untouchable mixtape series. Most notable Part 2 hosted by the Boo Yaa Tribe. The mixtape featured tons of world premiers & exclusive freestyles by the likes of Westside Connection, Kurupt, Snoop Dogg, Sly Boogy, Saigon, Hittman, 2Pac, Busta Rhymes and many more, including the most controversial diss record since "Callin Out Names", "Eat A Dicc" performed by Kurupt & Eastwood, callin out ex-homies Daz, Soopafly & Bad Azz. "Cali Untouchable Part 1" even made it in the "Tale Of The Tape" section in the Source magazine (June issue).

Dj Warrior is hailed as LA's mixtape king and is someone who helps new artists blow up with his mixtapes. He has been holding it down in the mixtape market since 97. He released 4 mixtapes in 2001, 7 in 2002, and 15 mixtapes in 2003, add that up. Dj Warrior also has the Afeni Shakur sponsored 2Pac mixtape "Rap Legends Pt. 1 (2Pac 4Ever Mixtape)" dropping soon. You can also catch him in the Hollywood Homicide movie (starring Harrison Ford & Kurupt) as a Dj.

Watch out for Dj Warriors new mixtape "Ill Street Dues Pt.1" dropping soon. It features exclusive tracks by Kurupt, Ras Kass, Tray Deee, King T, Planet Asia and 3 of the most promising west coast artists, The Game, Scipio, and last but not least Crooked I on a exclusive collabo with 2Pac, produced by DJ Warrior & Floss P.

TheDjStrong dropped his "h.I.V. Vol. 2: The Cure" in December which was hosted by Dj Babu from the Dilated Peoples. He's always dropping exclusives & unreleased tracks and comes with an innovative style. What else can you expect, he brought some heat to the table with countless of world premiers including tracks by E-40, J-Ro & Tash of Tha Liks, Planet Asia, Xzibit, Krondon, Self Scientific, Digital Underground, Shock G, Money B, Ras Kass, Dilated Peoples, Talib Kweli, 2Pac, Biggie and many more. As you can see a very strong influenced mixtape by the Westcoast, and something fans been waiting for. The east coast have their Kay Slays, Clues & Whoo Kids, but its about time that someone on the west coast is making moves and some noise in the scene by putting out quality mixtapes.

TheDJStrong has his own record label called StrongHouse Records. He has been grinding it out for years in the sewers of hip-hop, to create a beautiful multi-level mansion in the shape of a Treble Clef. Now StrongHouse Records is breaking through the underground for the 2004 and beyond.
