news Game On Hot 97 (Audio) Link Fixed!! - February 28, 2005 By : SGV

Here it is! Game on Hot 97 with Angie Martinez. A female fan calls up and has it out with Game. This is nuts, Rap beef is out of control.

They say all promotion is good promotion, so lets see what this does to Game's sales and 50's sales when his album drops in March. In my personal opinion (not Dubcnn.com's opinion), it seems like Game and 50 both have big heads of their own.

Aight, no more of my insight on this "beef." Here it is on MP3 Format. Shouts to Demics and Lil Jay for the hook up!

news 50 Cent Says The Game Is Off G-Unit?! - February 28, 2005 By : Nima

Wow, after weeks and weeks of speculation about this apparent beef between 50 Cent and The Game, and 50 taking sublminal shots at Game in various interviews, it looks like the situation finally escalated.

According to many different internet forums, 50 is on 105.1 radio in New York right now talking about The Game. Here is a post by "Money In Da Bank" from the SOHH.com Forums:

"It's true, heard Power 105.1 with Ed Lover, and he had 50, Yayo & Olivia as guests. What 50 said was that Game is not with the group no more, because after coming back from overseas, he came back as a different person with a different attitude. 50 was talkin' how Game was more focused on dissin' Bleek and Jay and not focused on the label. 50 even admitted that Game is a rapper, not a songwriter (hint: 50 wrote his lyrics) and also gave him the cuts for Westside Story, How We Do, Higher, & Hate It or Love It. Ed asked 50, "So what happened, you and Game are in a shoving contest?" 50 responds, "He's the one who put his elbows out first. You know why Game sells? 'Cause they all knew that 50 Cent would be on the album. I won't be affiliated with him no more. His next album will probably sell 500 k cause of me. I gave him the ball and he ran with it, and now he ain't down with us."

Here is another post:

"when ed lover asked him what the situation is with game, and how is he as far as g-unit goes and 50 responed " he's across the street, around the corner, also said that he;s done as far as g-unit and that there will be no mending between them,,,he went on to say that the game is too inconsistent, he spoke about how he started beef with joe budden and then took pics with him @ a club in nyc...same situation with memph in miami..he said he say;s things and then ends up taking them back... so it looks like 2005 is gonna be a Big and messy year in HipHop..cant wait to seee what happens"

50 even went as far as saying that if Dr. Dre sides with Game instead of siding with him in this, he would drop a double album, fullfil his contract, and cut all ties with Interscope!

Apparently, The Game is now simoultaneously on Hot 97 talking to Angie Martinez about the situation. If anybody was able to record the show and has audio of any of the interview, please email me.

It will be interesting to see Dr. Dre's take on all this. Stay tuned!

news Common - Be (Basement Elevation) - February 23, 2005 By : SGV

Grammy award winning artist Common is often referred to as one of the most thoughtful and gifted lyricists in hip-hop.

His impressive music career began twelve years ago with the release of his debut album, Can I Borrow a Dollar? That effort was praised for its down-to-earth vibe and intelligent rhymes, but the unapologetic middle-class sensibilities conveyed on Common's second album, 1994's Resurrection, which yielded the hip-hop classic "I Used to Love H.E.R.," earned him the respect enjoyed by kindred spirits such as A Tribe Called Quest and De La Soul.

Following the release of his deeply introspective third album, 1997's One Day It'll All Make Sense, which addressed serious issues like family planning, Common relocated to New York to heighten his visibility and become more involved in the music industry. Common unleashed 2000's noticeably more musical Like Water for Chocolate. The album was a versatile mix of gravity, sardonic humor and soulful hip-hop beats that spawned the Grammy-nominated single, "The Light." Like Water for Chocolate also signaled Common's emergence as a member of the Soulquarians-a collective of musicians that includes Roots drummer Ahmir "?uestlove" Thompson, beat-maker Jay Dee and keyboardist James Poyser, among others-which reconvened to produce the bulk of 2002's Electric Circus. Circus, Common's fifth album was anchored by an uncommon and refreshing air of open-mindedness, both musically and lyrically. The album included the hit single "Come Close" featuring Mary J. Blige.

Common has been keeping busy since the release of Electric Circus. In 2003, he received a Grammy Award for "Love of My Life," a duet with Erykah Badu from the Brown Sugar soundtrack. His appearance on "Why (Remix)" with Jadakiss, Anthony Hamilton, Styles P., & Nas, garnered him a 2004 Vibe Award for Coolest Collabo. Common left fans hungry for more after he performed "Food" with Kanye West on the Chappelle Show earlier this year. The wait is almost over. Common is currently in the studio working on his new album, BE, with producer Kanye West. BE is scheduled for a May 2005 release

news Infamous Times-Vol I: The Original 50 Cent - February 23, 2005 By : SGV

"The story of the legend who inspired the biggest name in rap."

On March 8, 2005, Vision Plant Pictures, in association with Czar Entertainment, will release The Infamous Times - Volume I: The Original 50 Cent on DVD to eager home entertainment audiences everywhere. A powerful music-driven video magazine chronicling the nation’s most reputed street figures, notorious neighborhoods and the alluring frills of the fast life, this explicit exposé goes behind the stereotypes typically associated with legendary hustlers to uncover the true tales of pain and betrayal that all too often destroys their lives and, most times, finds them dead or in jail. Volume one of The Infamous Times has already shipped platinum to major retail outlets throughout the U.S. and is on pace to quickly become one of the best selling urban DVD’s to date.

Running 120 minutes, the main feature of this landmark series tells the true story of Kelvin “50 Cent” Martin, a cold-blooded crook who, armed with an arsenal of weapons, robbed, killed and extorted many of Brooklyn’s biggest hustlers at the height of New York’s brutal crack cocaine epidemic and from whom the multi-platinum rap superstar, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, borrowed his moniker. This is the true story of the legend who inspired the biggest name in rap.

Hosted by venerated columnist, actor and convicted felon, Bonz Malone, the subject matter echoes the insight, candid perspective and journalistic intensity of esteemed investigative programs like Dateline NBC and 20/20. Likewise, The Infamous Times is poised to be one of the preeminent urban DVD series of the decade, revolutionizing the genre with its blend of in depth coverage accompanied by a hard-driving soundtrack. Superbly helmed by pioneering video director, Froi Cuesta and the brainchild of acclaimed music impresario, Jimmy Henchmen, along with entertainment industry veterans, Tone Boots and Griff, the series aims to enlighten “at-risk” youth on the hazards of street life as it contrasts the glamorization of criminal behavior that is all too common in rap music and mainstream film and television nowadays.

We’re taking them all to task…politicians, parents, the young generation,” says series co-creator Tone Boots, who is also the Producer of MTV’s Direct Effect. “This story is very dear and close to me because I knew the original Fifty-Cent,” adds Jimmy Henchmen, the project’s Executive Producer and manager of platinum recording artists such as The Game (Aftermath/G-Unit), Mario Winans (Bad Boy) and Black Rob (Bad Boy). “I’m honored to tell a story like this that influenced the biggest name in rap as we know it today.

In addition to the true story of the original 50 Cent featured in The “G” Chronicle segment of the DVD, the Danger Zone profiles the Brownsville section of Brooklyn and uncovers the influx of the LA-based ‘Bloods’ street gang that has besieged the neighborhood’s housing projects. In the Paper Dolls segment of The Infamous Times their cameras go behind-the-scenes of one of the most popular gentlemen’s clubs in the country, Sue’s Rendezvous – made famous in the lyrics of many rap artists over the past few years. Also, the DVD’s bonus content includes an exclusive interview with Jimmy Henchmen; a profile on celebrity jewelers from Manhattan’s famed ‘Diamond District;’ and a photo gallery featuring the work of award winning photographer Jamel Shabazz – author of the celebrated photo essay, Back in the Days.

news BIG SNOOP DOGG VIDEO INTERVIEW UP! - February 22, 2005 By : Nima & Yash

Yes sir, you read correct! We done did it again! Last saturday, myself, Yash & the big homie Lil Jay had the chance to hook up with Bigg Snoop Dogg after his show in Cologne, Germany, with The Game opening up for him. We have all of this on video, yes sir, a Snoop Dogg video interview!

Time was limited, but I believe the most important questions that have been very requested by the fans were answered. Yash had his "Free Tray Deee" shirt on, so you know Snoop had to speak on the Tray Deee/Eastsidaz situation. He also talked about the 213 and why it wasn't promoted well, his relationship with Dr. Dre and how he's still pushing for that Break Up To Make Up album. He also answered my question about working with producers like Battlecat, Meech Wells & Fredwreck again, and hooking back up with his old people such as Bad Azz and others. His answer to Jay's question, wether he will be going back to his Gangsta style, G-Funk, will probably anger alot of you... But hey, that's how he feels!

Highlights are him announcing that The Lady Of Rage is back in the studio, and his statement on Kurupt is very interesting too. We were pleased to see that Snoop is up on his internet game, and knew all about DubCNN already.

This is not all that's coming though, in a few days we will have some exclusive video footage from the show up for those who weren't there, and we also conducted a video interview with Soopafly, who answered alot of questions.

And in addition to all that, we also have an exclusive video interview with Snoop's 213 buddy Warren G coming. Matter of fact, we have TWO Warren G video interviews completed, yes sir!

'Nuff talk, check out the video footage of Snoop Dogg now by clicking below:

news The Game "West Coast Resurrection" 03/05 - February 17, 2005 By : Nima

JT THE BIGGA FIGGA & GET LOW RECORDS SET TO RELEASE THE GAME 'WEST COAST RESURRECTION' (By: Betsy Bolte)

(Los Angeles, CA.) JT The Bigga Figga's Get Low Records announces the
upcoming release of The Game's 'West Coast Resurrection' on March 29, 2005. The album features previously unreleased material recorded in the bay area with JT The Bigga Figga.

JT the artist-CEO traveled from his Bay Area base to attend a hip-hop
conference featuring Russell Simmons and Minister Louis Farrakhan and was inspired by some of the personal and professional lessons he learned at the event. But JT was most impressed by an up-and-coming rapper he met there. The rapper's name: The Game.

"He caught my attention," JT recalls of the superstar rapper now signed to Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment. "His style was not like a normal West Coast style. It was more like an East Coast style with a West Coast look and West Coast lyrics. He sounded like a bunch of famous people. I knew if the right amount of money was behind him that he would definitely become a star. I told him I could bring him to the Bay and go ahead and knock out an album -- really as much material as possible. I told him, 'All I want claim to is the songs that me and you do. Whatever you do on your own after that, it's on you. Get your money, cousin.'"

As they say, game recognize game, so The Game agreed to JT's terms and
recorded approximately 30 songs with JT. Some of those songs are featured on The Game's 'West Coast Resurrection'.

Fans of The Game's major label debut, 2005's platinum-plus 'The
Documentary', will be able to trace the Compton rapper's evolution with 'West Coast Resurrection'. "You can hear early stages of The Game," JT explains. "You can hear a little bit of his development all the way through the album. You can hear the youngness in his voice, but you can still hear the hunger and still see the style."

The first song The Game and JT recorded together was "The Streetz of
Compton," a stellar remake of DJ Quik's classic "Born and Raised in
Compton." Another one of their early recordings was "Blacksox," a thumping song that also features JT and Bluechip.

"When you listen to that particular track, that's him finding his identity and it stands out because it's the rookie card," JT says of "Blacksox." "It represents The Game's essence coming into this rap game. That is the resurrection of the West Coast, because he's the shining star of the West and everybody's taking their hat off to him for the West."

Now, with The Game's 'West Coast Resurrection' ready to hit the streets, JT The Bigga Figga has positioned himself as an artist and executive with a keen ear for emerging talent.

"I want to be known as the guy that you can come to when you want to get your jumpstart," JT says. "If you're dope, let's throw it out there and see what we can do."

The Game did it. Who's next?

'West Coast Resurrection' Tracklisting:

1. Intro / feat JT
2. The Streetz of Compton / feat JT
3. Blacksox / feat JT & Bluechip
4. Krush Groove / JT & Get Low East
5. Troublesome
6. Rookie Card / feat JT

news KDay - Power 106 Rivalry? - February 17, 2005 By : Nima

The homie Toon from DPG Recordz asked me to post this message for ya'll, it is concerning the recent relaunch of KDay (93.5) and the reaction to that by Power 106 & The Beat. Check it out:

"Before I explain, get this straight: I'm riding for Julio G. That's my dogg; I don't think he'll ever know how much he helped me, but if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be working with Daz and the DPGz today. So you can understand why I have to post this info.

Let me start by mentioning for those that don't know that the return of GOOD RADIO is on in Southern California! LA radio listeners were shocked and thrilled to learn that JULIO G and KDAY returned to the airwaves a couple of months ago (tune in at 93.5). Not surprising, however, was the reaction of rival stations Power and The Beat. After years of commercialized programming that only played music from the highest bidder, both stations have been trying desperately to copy the format, going as far as to alter programming to mirror that of KDAY, but to no avail.

And then this happened... Power 106 as a station (and specific DJ's such as Felli Fel and the wacc-ass Goodfellaz), have apparently issued private statements to artists as follows: "If any artist records radio promos for Julio G or grants KDAY on-air radio interviews, that artist's records will be immediately removed from Power 106 rotation."

Regardless of my personal opinions of Power (and The Beat), their DJ's, or the music they play, this is absolutely a bitch move. So from today onward, my dial doesn't even HAVE 105.9 on it. F**k a goodfella, f**k a steve harvey.

news Cali's Best Kept Secret... EMBRYO - February 13, 2005 By : mrtonguetwista

Sup everyone. Let me introduce you to producer extraordinaire EMBRYO. Born in Brasov, Romania, he came to the states and landed in Southern California when he was only 2 1/2yrs old. He started DJing 7 Years ago under the name DJ Embryo. Shortly after that he decided he wanted to produce his own rap demo since he was rapping a little. He had a friend who had some equipment (old vintage analog equipment like Original Roland TR-808, TR-909, etc). He produced Electronic music. So with his help he produced his first 2 Hip Hop beats. He started working on more tracks though and in the first month...somehow his beat CD got around and he started getting alot of attention from local and even out of state artists. Since that moment, he knew what he was made to do. He dropped the DJ and became Embryo ("An Organism in the first stages of Development").

5 Years later....He's creating a buzz around the music industry...working with artists from around the United States like "Sincere" (Blackground/Universal Recording Artist out of New York), R. Prophet (of The Nappy Roots on his solo debut out of Kentucky), Ras Kass, 40 Glocc, Scipio, Diamonique and a many more. His style is unique and diverse... while most producers are sample based (which I respect), I on the other hand am completely opposite. Embryo is the name, Embryo Productions is the company, "The Future Sound of Music" is the slogan. EMBRYO is working on some major projects right now. One of my main focuses is his artist TEXACAL. Born in Texas, Raised in Cali. He just finished their debut Street Banger "WHO U!?" "Both the south and the west are not prepared for what we are about to drop", states EMBRYO. The streets are going to embrace this for sure.

news New Busta Rhymes Produced By Scott Storch - February 12, 2005 By : Adon

It's official, Flipmode and Aftermath. We got a new Busta song off his upcoming Aftermath LP "The Big Bang". Funk Flex recently leaked the song on his radio show and Busta wasn't too happy about it leaking early but later said,

"It's a good problem to have in one sense, because if a song is that dope that you have to take it and just run with it like "F**k it,' I can't be mad at that.".

This is causing Busta to start promoting his album earlier than scheduled. Scott Storch laced Busta with a banging beat, and Busta rides it perfectly. Check the song below:

news The Game: "Jay-Z Can Suck My Dick!" - February 10, 2005 By : Nima

On his first tour through Europe, The Game sparked alot of controvery. Myself and Yash went to the Snoop Dogg & Game show tonight in Amsterdam at the Heineken Music Hall, and it was definitely worth it. Having trouble with the security guards, we weren't able to take any pictures or film the show, but I'm gonna give ya'll a detailed review of what went down.

We got there a little late, missing the beginning of Game's performance. As we entered the arena, Game was on stage with his shirt off, the pants sagging extra hard, and his Aftermath chain shining around his neck. He had a very good stage presence, and a very solid performance overall. After doing Dreams and Church For Thugs, where he already took shots at the likes of Yukmouth, Memphis Bleek, Joe Budden and Murder Inc, he told DJ Quik on the 1's and 2's to stop the music and announced something that could be the start of a huge battle in HipHop.
As ya'll saw on here the other day, Jay-Z recorded a little song going at Game on Funk Flex radio show (Hot97). "I got an email from the USA, saying that JayZ been on the radio dissing Game...", Game spoke. "Now I told ya'll I don't take shots at legends, but how many of ya'll think Game should record a diss song for Jay-Z"?, he asked the cheering crowd.

That's when the beat to "How We Do" started, and Game started a little chant that he then repeated about 10 times.

"Ja Rule Can SUCK MY DICK, Ashanti can SUCK MY DICK, Irv Gotti can SUCK MY DICK, Murder Inc can SUCK MY DICK, Joe Budden can SUCK MY DICK, Memphis Bleek can SUCK MY DICK, Beanie Sigel can SUCK MY DICK, Jay-Z can SUCK MY DICK, Rocafella can SUCK MY DICK, if you a hater nigga SUCK MY DICK".

At that point Game was totally pumped up, and went into "How We Do", followed by "Hate It Or Love It". After a little interlude by DJ Quik where they played the beat to "Pitch In On A Party", Game came back to Jay-Z again, visibly even more heated. He ended his set by doing the "Suck My Dick" chant a couple more times, and left the crowd hyped, but shocked at the same time.

Did Game bite off more than he can chew with this one? Will G-Unit ride with him through this beef? This will be interesting to see in the coming weeks.

Let's get back to the show, after about 15min of break, DJ Jam took the stage and announced Snoop Dogg, Soopafly and Uncle June Bugg. Daz, however, couldn't make it due to problems with his passport. Snoop walked on stage dressed in blue and white, to the intro of Paid The Cost, "Da Bo$$ Would Like To See U". As always, he went through all his old hits, performing every single song off Doggystyle except for "For My Niggaz & My Bitches, Serial Killa and G-Funk Intro". They rapped Kurupt's verse on "Ain't No Fun", throwing in a little Fuck Kurupt! at the end. "Deep Cover, P.I.M.P remix, Bitch Please, Drop It Like It's Hot, Let's Get Blown, Down 4 My Niggaz" were also part of the set. After blazing a huge joint during his chronic break and doing his obligatory "Smoke Weed, Get High, and FucK" chant, bringing his Uncle Reo" on stage to help him out, he let his band The Snoopadelics go into a little reggae instrumental, making the crowd singing along with him. He finished it off with "Who Am I", Snoop and his crew exited the stage.

Overall it was a great show, I missed the other opening act Flipsyde, and the songs "Higher, Westside Story and Put You Up On Game" off of Game's set.

We will be uploading pictures that our forum member Mauzip took, anybody else with pictures, feel free to email me them.

Dubcnn will also be present at one of the Germany shows, this time bringing ya'll some exclusive footage and interviews, so look forward to that!

news Introducing: Kiotti [Info + Audio] - February 9, 2005 By : Nima

You'd think an aspiring rapper was crazy if he turned down deals with Hip-hop heavyweights Def Jam and Sony, but Kiotti rejected contracts from these labels and others before settling down with Unauthorized Entertainment distributed by Asylum/WEA. Kiotti, now twenty-two, first gained credibility in 2001 upon winning The Source's "Unsigned Hype" award. In 2002, he became a threat to household names when outshining Lil' Flip in a freestyle contest on Houston's KBBX.

The ambitious rapper has released several underground albums and mixed CDs, which attributed to his street credibility and fan base. Not only do the streets relate to the lyrics; his songs have become Houston anthems.

It's inevitable that once the streets love you, the majors jump on the bandwagon. Once the hit "Hooker Hooker" dropped, he was bombarded with proposals from the likes of Sony, J Records, and Def Jam. Kiotti was hot and could afford to be choosey, so he decided to pass and patiently awaited the right deal.

That deal came in 2005 when he signed with Unauthorized Entertainment run by former Def Jam and Sony A&R Executive Selim Bouab. Kiotti explains his decision to sign with UE: "I feel confident and comfortable with Unauthorized Entertainment taking my street audience to another level. I knew it was only a matter of time before someone stepped up to the plate and offered me what I'm worth."

Kiotti has already begun giving back to his community by launching a program called Young Fam Against Drugs. Through this program, Kiotti has become a speaker at Houston schools educating our youth on the negative affects of drug use.

Be on the lookout for Kiotti's full-length CD, which will hit stores this summer. Also, check out his website for upcoming shows and events. www.kiotti.com

I'm not even gonna say anything else, check out the freestyle from the Funk Flex show yourself below. It will be interesting to see whether Game will follow his decision "to never take shots a legends" as he put it, or retaliate.

news Hood Grown Magazine/Records Press Releases - February 7, 2005 By : SGV

The second issue of Hood Grown Magazine goes to the presses today. This issue contains the following interviews and features: A Tribute to Ol' Dirty Bastard, Hip Hop Beef-The Next Level?, How To Start A Record Company For Under $1000, The Game, Ciara, Cormega, Miri Ben-Ari, Lord Have Mercy, Noah, Angelous, Maverick Video, Record Reviews, Hood Grown Girl of the Month, and Upcoming Artist & Producers. It's also includes a free Amplifire sampler cd inside every issue all for only 50 cents!!!!!!

Hood Grown's purpose is to cover urban music in a street oriented, yet intelligent manner with content driven by artist, music, and African A0merican culture as it pertains to the art form. The magazine is 36 pages, features full colors covers on 80lb glossy paper, with black & white insides on 70lb glossy paper, and is published bi-monthly.

One of the unique aspects of Hood Grown magazine is that it fosters the discovery of new music and artists whether they're on a major or independent music label. We're one of the few magazines where you'll see major artists featured along side independent artists with no seperation based on the celebratory status of their record label. Our specialty is featuring unknown upcoming labels, artists, &roducers exposing them to an audience that might have little knowledge of them.

To this end we have decided to provide Hood Grown magazine at a minimal cost to the consumer in order to gain readership for those with limited budgets who would be more likely to pick up XXL or the Source magazines. Hood Grown magazine's cover price is 50 cents and in some stores it is given away for free. In order to do this, Hood Grown is totally advertiser supported. We understand the limited budgets of most independent labels and have priced our advertising rates so that even the most cash strapped label can afford to advertise their product.

Hood Grown magazine is distributed to "mom & pop" and specialty stores throughout the country through Clout Distribution, Domination Distribution, and in the Newbury Comics chain of stores. Currently in talks with Barnes & Nobles and Borders.

For more information go to: HoodGrown.com
For images from the latest issue, go to: Latest Issue

Hood Grown Magazine (wwww.hoodgrown.com), the new Hip Hop magazine with it's focus on featuring major and indie artists without bias, will soon be launching it's new endeavor, Hood Grown Records (www.hoodgrownrecords.com). With the launch of Hood Grown
Records, the focus of this new upstart is to bring back the spirit of Rawkus Records in it's hey day.

"With the success of artists such as Kayne West, we feel the climate is right to release hip hop artists who want to release hard hitting, intelligent music, and don't feel the need to conform to the commercial formats dominating popular radio and video shows." said Christopher English, CEO of Hood Grown Records. "We can use our magazine to get our music in the public eye and use our distribution channels to get it in stores."

The first release on the new Hood Grown Records imprint will be the BombSounding Compilation which will be followed by an EP release from upcoming artist, Frozen Heat.

Dr Tipsy, aka Jason Santiago, is Founder of the West Coast DJ Academy. When asked, what is the purpose of doing the class and what would you like your students to get out of this class? Dr. Tipsy repsonds:

"To be able to rock a party or at least know how to mix 2 records together. I started this academy to give back to the DJ Culture who made me. I enjoy teaching others how to Mix records, make beats, blend tracks and read a crowd of party people by dropping the right tunes. We will be giving away free DJ lessons to readers who holla. Check the website www.hiphopundaground.com click on the West Coast We have 10 DJ teachers who are into all styles of music some spin at local clubs and bigger venues. I wanted to create a place where a person who wanted to DJ could get the knowledge first hand from A DJ ACADEMY. L.A. needed one. I have contacted the major and (not so major) record labels they will be kicking down WAX for the students to Practice on."

The course is described as "a six-week course, [where] each instructor will lecture briefly and provide demonstrations. The bulk of each class is spent with students gaining hands on experience with turntables. Courses include: Equipment set-up and break-down, Hand to record and to fader technique, Music theory, Mixing and blending, Beat making, Scratching, Beat juggling."

It's located in the Highland Park area of North East Los Angeles. If you're interested in the scheduling, call for class schedules at 877.267.4376. The tuition to enroll is S250.

He spins all kinds of music. He also does it accoding to the students tastes. He's been deejaying for 15 years. And as he puts it, he's a "Turntablist" who's into "Reggae, [and] blending 50 Cent with Willie Nelson, that type of off the wall 80's meets Hip-Hop meets 2004. But smooth, not like a jerky cut off, each records goes in tune together." The 33 year old, Harlem born, Bronx raised, Los Angeles resident, deejay credits Kool Herc, Rammellzee, Jazzy Jay, Diamond D and The DITC Crew as his influences.

news Suge Knight Arrested For Parole Violation - February 6, 2005 By : Nima

Rap mogul Marion "Suge" Knight was booked on suspicion of violating his parole after police found marijuana in his truck during a traffic stop, authorities said Sunday.

Knight was arrested about Saturday evening in Barstow and held by sheriff's officials pending his transfer next week to state prison, said sheriff's Cpl. Lorraine Riser.

State officials would then review his case to determine if he should be held or released, Riser said.

Police said they searched Knight's Ford pickup and found marijuana after pulling him over for making an unsafe U-turn. He was cited for not having insurance.

A woman in the vehicle, identified as Alexis Wilkenson, 18, of Las Vegas, allegedly had a fake ID and was arrested for investigation of providing false information to police. She was later released.

Knight, 39, co-founder of the pioneering rap label Death Row Records, was released from prison in 2001 after serving time for assault and weapons violations. He recently served an additional 10-month prison sentence for violating his parole and striking a Hollywood nightclub valet.

A call to Jonathan Wolfson, a publicist who has represented Knight, was not immediately returned Sunday morning.

Barstow is in San Bernardino County about 100 miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles.

news Tray Deee Gets Sentenced To 12 Years :( - February 3, 2005 By : Nima

I am very sorry to have to post this... In contrary to what we were hearing in the last weeks, Tray Deee will not be getting out of prison anytime soon by the looks of it. I heard from a credible source that he was sentenced to 12 years in jail earlier this morning, and indeed, this was confirmed by The Sacramento Bee Newspaper.

Here is the press article:

"LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) - Rapper Tray Deee, who formed the group Tha Eastsidaz with rappers Snoop Dogg and Goldie Loc, was sentenced to 12 years in prison Wednesday in connection with a 2003 shooting.
The rapper, whose real name is Tracy Lamar Davis, was sentenced in Superior Court after pleading no contest to shooting at an occupied vehicle, prosecutor Cynthia Barnes said.

Under a plea agreement, prosecutors dropped two charges f assault with a semiautomatic firearm and one count of possession of a firearm.

Davis allegedly shot at two people in a car but nobody was injured.
"

The DubCNN staff would like to send out their support to Tray Deee and his family & friends. We will keep you updated on any happenings concerning this situation.

Keep your head up Tray...

news Bushwick Bill Reacts To Houston's Incident - February 3, 2005 By : Nima

Bushwick Bill of the multi-platinum Houston-based rap group, The Geto Boys, knows what it’s like to feel suicidal, and as a result, to lose an eye. Upon hearing that Capitol Records hiphop artist Houston gouged his eye out during a suicide bid on Thursday, Bushwick felt compelled to speak out. After all, while hoping for death, himself, one fateful evening in 1991, Bushwick Bill forced his girlfriend to assist his suicide attempt, and she shot him in the eye, but miraculously, he survived. That night, June 19, 1991, would become immortalized on the cover of the group’s platinum-selling album, “We Can’t Be Stopped,” which pictures a graphic photo of Geto Boys members Scarface and Willie D pushing a bandaged, incoherent Bushwick Bill on a hospital gurney. “I wouldn’t wish that on anyone else, to force the hand of death,” he contends.
“Fame will make you crazy,” states Bushwick. “Fame isn’t for everybody. There are people who have a fear of fame, those who want fame, and those who don’t understand fame. It drives them crazy, because it is a lot of responsibility to be all things to all people, and you can lose yourself in the shuffle, where there are no longer fifty-two cards in the deck.” He notes that contributing to the stress of fame is that things are often not as they appear. He explains, “There is the added insanity of having a big selling record and fame, yet somehow, you don’t have any money to match what you have accomplished. You are going through that misery with your label, and it makes utterly no sense.”
Bill adds, “The advice I would give to Houston or to any other artists who are either up and coming, or who are already established, and are going through mental storms right now, is this. You need to be rooted and grounded with the same love you have your family and God to yourself. Since God wanted you to be an entertainer, you need to look to God more and less to yourself, because we as artists are confused as human beings, and then lack of knowledge pulls us into different directions. You are put in the position where you have to smile when you are sad and be gracious when you are depressed, and not everybody knows how to play the roles that fame requires. Some people wear their life on their sleeves, and they wear their emotional life on their face, which broadcasts their situation like a news station. When some people can’t handle that, can’t cope, they start to fall apart.”
Bushwick Bill has clearly given such matters deep thought. On his solo album, “Little Big Man,” he raps on the track, “Ever So Clear,” the highly self-analytical lyric, “I had to lose an eye to see clearly.” Media outlets, including the “New York Post,” reported that MTV banned the end of that track’s music video, in which the expressive rapper took out his glass eye and dropped it into a glass of Everclear.
Bushwick elaborates, “I want Houston to know that he is in my prayers, and that I will ask God to give him peace of mind and peace of heart, and I hope his eye heals as well as his mind and his emotions.”
A new Geto Boys album, “The Foundation,” was recently released, and Bushwick is also in the spotlight, as he has also signed a joint venture deal with Adex Records, which will release a solo project, “Gutta Mixx” through Lightyear/Warner Brother Records on March 29.

news Introducing Buccweet - February 1, 2005 By : Nima

Wolfpac Records is proud to announce the newest addition to our undisputed impenetrable force, our "hip-hop R. Kelly", of sorts. Imagine, talent so fierce that lyrical content, song formatting, editing, and engineering are simultaneously mastered, in addition, to undeniable production. You see when you've been rapping since you were ten, sooner or later, those production keys begin to look pretty interesting. By age 15, BUCCWEET a. k. a. Tha Animal had credits that included accomplished producer and DJ to add to his resume.
Pulled from his San Fernando Valley and pushed to the forefront of the industry, BUCCWEET is solely responsible for the fire production on his album, in its entirety. (He produced EVERY SINGLE TRACK!!!) That alone, puts this newcomer in an extremely prestigious class. Tha Animal credits his production to have been most influenced by Dr. Dre. "Dre's the #1 of all time for bangin production. Timberland for his drum and song programming, and (DJ) Premier is one of a kind when it comes to sampling techniques." Being born and raised in "the 818", as BUCCWEET passionately refers to his stomping grounds as, has resulted in representin the city in almost every song. Those of you who know what's crackin know the flavor the city brings…. "that Valley Life", notes BUCCWEET. From that good kush only found roun here to every size, shape, and formed woman imaginable to gettin that REAL money: "We got land. This ain't no nickel and dime shit," he elaborates. "You put all that shit in one pot, you got some fly niggas. We do it WAY BIG out here." When asked to briefly tell people what they can xpect from his debut album, "Life and music," BUCCWEET is quick to respond with. "You can expect the truth. My lyrics, my beats, my hooks, all of the above, is THE TRUTH!" Game recognize game. DO YOU?!? Tha Pac anticipates album release early September. Until then, you can find exclusive drops, photos, and interviews, as well as, news updates on BUCCWEET a. k. a. Tha Animal, here at www.Wolfpacrecords.com.
