..........................................................................................
dubcnn.com: You're a bunch of fresh
cats in the game, first of all introduce yourselves.
Lil Boo: I'm Lil Boo from the Zoo Babies.
Loc E Loc: I'm Loc E Loc.
Lil Boo: We ain't got Ken Bib with us right now, and Baby Lone is gonna join
us in a second. Zoo Babies!
dubcnn.com: Now from what 40 been telling me, ya'll some real cats. So tell us
about your background, where you're from, the gang life and all that.
Lil Boo: I'm from the Zoo man, Colton City. I grew up like... a rough life,
you know? I'm trying to get it! I'm thirsty man.
dubcnn.com: So how did ya'll get together as a group?
Loc E Loc: I mean we got together growing up, as kids. We always knew each
other.
Lil Boo: We used to always hang out, and rap and all that.
dubcnn.com: Who mostly influenced ya'll, coming up?
Lil Boo: I mean, really 40 [Glocc].
Loc E Loc: Yeah, 40, and Dr. Dre, Kurupt, 2Pac, all them.
dubcnn.com: What's your connection with 40 Glocc? Is he the mentor?
Lil Boo: That's like the homie from my city, you know? It's like a bond.
Loc E Loc: We all family though, we close like that, it's family.
Baby Lone: Yeah we all from the same hood, group up around him, same block!
dubcnn.com: So he's leading the group?
Lil Boo: Yeah 40, he basically started us. When we was out back in the days,
playing, rapping and all that, he was just like we need to do something with
it you know? He took us to the studio, and he started feeling us like real
serious! He started looking at us and seeing dollar signs! That's basically
it.
Baby Lone: Yup, I guess he felt we was hot, took us to the studio, we took the
time to write some shit, and it came out right! So we making the album now!
dubcnn.com: So what was the day you decided you wanna become a rapper?
Loc E Loc: Once we really realized what we had together as a group, everybody
just willing to get together, and tell each other we can really make it, and
whoo whoo, and all that. That's what really influenced me to do this.
Lil Boo: What really made me decide that was being in the studio, around other
rappers like 40, and like Kurupt, and just being around them, and when I rap
something, they like "Oh that was cool!" or something, and that's when I
started hearing it in the back of my head, like I need to stop playin', and be
serious with it!
dubcnn.com: You appeared on his Outspoken Vol.1 mixtape, have you been on any
other projects yet?
Lil Boo: Nah that was it for right now. And now we working on the album, a few
more songs to do!
dubcnn.com: So I hear you're doing a group album, presented by Kurupt & 40
Glocc. What's Kurupt's role in the project?
Lil Boo: He must be puttin' some money in it or somethin', he kinda of backing
us up, getting us out there, and hoping something good comes out of it!
dubcnn.com: He rappin' on there too?
Loc E Loc: Yeah, we got Kurupt and all them rappin!
dubcnn.com: Who do you have doing production on the record?
Loc E Loc: We got Battlecat, we got a Dr. Dre track but we don't know if we
gone use it, we got J Steez, we got a couple tracks from Jelly Roll, W.S. Bug,
Raw Beats...
Lil Boo: And featured on there we got Jayo Felony, Kokane, Bad Azz, Butch
Cassidy, Roscoe, 40 Glocc and some others.
dubcnn.com: I think the record is distributed through Universal... correct?
Lil Boo: Yeah, Universal, they're distributing it. It's Zoo Life/Universal.
dubcnn.com: How would you describe the record?
Baby Lone: Man, new West Coast! It's coming strong man, it's crazy. We got
shit with Battlecat, it's so blazing man. Something new from the West! Hot!
dubcnn.com: Around what time can we expect this record to be in stores?
Loc E Loc: '05, early 2005, February or something.
dubcnn.com: Is the record done?
Lil Boo: We got enough songs for the album right now, but we're still doing
some more, just to.. you know.. keep it moving like that.
dubcnn.com: Everybody is trying to rap these days... What's your point of view
of the Rap Game? How do the youngsters view it?
Lil Boo: My point of view ain't really about rapping right now, it's just
about stuff that I did, in my life, and for it to be heard by other people,
and just feel me. To know where I'm coming from. That's what I make music for,
to make myself feel better, and expose the situation I've been in, us doing
what we do..
dubcnn.com: It's really hard to get regular radio play, unless you have a big
budget behind you... Real talent isn't showcased anymore by the media. What do
you think caused this to happen? Why is the real stuff overlooked?
Lil Boo: It's just that there's a huge quanitity of music, and it's gotten
really hard to get heard. It's like if I put my song on the radio right now,
and they play it one time, then alright, if people hear it, it got me heard.
But the thing is, they gotta keep requesting it, and it's gonna be banging.
It's not gonna get anywhere if it just gets played and not heard. People gotta
hear you, like you, request you. If nobody's hearing you, radio play ain't
shit. Okay, you got played last night at 3:30 in the morning. Nobody heard it.
You know what I mean?
dubcnn.com: Do ya'll have a single picked for the record yet?
Loc E Loc: We got a few songs we're gonna choose from... We ain't really got
it picked right now, cause we're not sure what we wanna hit'em with. Club
shit, or whatever. I mean if we just got out there right now on some straight
west coast street shit, people prolly gone look at us like oh that's played
out. But if we come out with a club bangers, then they gone feel it. Then they
gone get the album, and then they gone hear what we really got to offer.
dubcnn.com: The record itself is gone be street though?
Lil Boo: Oh no, it's all us. But you gotta have something for the ladies!
dubcnn.com: What's your personal goal you're trying to achieve with the Zoo
Babies?
Baby Lone: Man I just wanna have fun with it man! For everybody to hear this
shit, feel this shit man. And make money off this shit! Zoo Babies, man.
dubcnn.com: Alotta times, in groups, after a while there's beef created
between different members of the group. Are you afraid that might happen to
ya'll?
Baby Lone: Nah man, we like too strong together. We like brothers man. We grew
up all four of us, since we were 3 or 4. And we ain't never had beef!
dubcnn.com: Coming up from California, who are ya'll trying to hook up with in
future, do collabos?
Loc E Loc: Oh man, Mobb Deep, we fuck with them, so that's nothing. Me, I like
Jada, I wanna do something with him. Busta Rhymes, people like them.
Lil Boo: Yeah I'd fuck with Busta, he's cool.
dubcnn.com: You've been rolling with 40 Glocc and the Riflemen alot, how has
the experience been?
Lil Boo: I mean, it's good, it feels good. It keeps you motivated, and just
want to do it. I mean watching them do it makes it seem like okay this is the
right thing. They doin' it, so I'ma get it done. Like they're doing their
stuff, and I'm there, and then we get down, get in the studio, lace that, it's
nothing!
dubcnn.com: What would you say have been the main things you've learned that
you weren't aware off since getting into the game?
Lil Boo: Like really, I learned that I gotta keep going, I gotta stay on top
of my game. Cause ain't nobody gone do it for me. I gotta stay on top of MY
game. I gotta be a part of everything that goes down with the rap game. I
gotta be a part of it. When this is cracking, or that network is cracking, you
gotta be a part of it, move around, be active. That's pretty much what I
learned. I gotta do alot of networking, gotta know alot of people.
dubcnn.com: What are you bumping in the whip right now?
Lil Boo: I'm still banging Pac man.
Loc E Loc: Yeah! Pac. And 40 Glocc! Mobb Deep, Riflemen.
Lil Boo: Look this is what I got right now. Pac, Alchemist, I listen to what
I'm around. Riflemen.
dubcnn.com: Baby Lone: Man I'm feeling the Zoo Babies man, and 40 Glocc! All
the rest of them niggaz I ain't feeling them man. I'm feeling Game though,
he's hot right now. But 40 Glocc & the Zoo Babies fo sho.
dubcnn.com: After this first record, what are the future plans for the Zoo
Babies?
Lil Boo: I mean we probably gonna come with solo projects. We gonna do our
best at it. And then we can come again as a group. It's really all on us.
Whatever we feel like doing, if we wanna do solos, we gonnna do solos. Or keep
hittin' them with the Zoo Babies!
dubcnn.com: Have you been working with Y.A. too?
Loc E Loc: Yeah, yeah we fuck with Roscoe and them. Fo sho.
dubcnn.com: That's about it for the questions, is there anything else ya'll
would like to say?
Lil Boo: Yeah I wanna give it up for my nigga Baby Lone, Ken Bib, gotta give
it up.
Loc E Loc: To everybody out there get ready for the Zoo Babies album it's
coming. It's hot! Blazing!
