This..is..another..DUBCNN..exclusive! We just can't stop... I have a special drop for ya'll today! It's by Treacherous Records' artist One-2, who we introduced to ya'll a few weeks ago. One-2 is a lyrically gifted young artist on the grind right now, ready to show the world what he has to offer. On his debut mixtape "The High School Dropout Mixtape Vol. 1", he flips alot of different styles, touching on subjects ranging from the educational system, to the state of the rap game, to bitches grinding on you at the club.

With features by his fellow Treacherous comrades Crooked I, Jayo Felony, Big Syke & K-Young, aswell as his own people Komplex, Edifice and more.

After a few listens, I have to say this is one of the best mixtapes to come out in a while, One-2 really put it down! Hopefully he will be able to get alot of exposure in 2005 and really put it down.

Anyways, enjoy this exclusive, download the "High School Drop Out Mixtape Vol. 1" below:

Brooklyn's own, Papoose, recently released his latest Mixtape with DJ Kay Slay and StreetSweepers. For those who've never heard him, he's a Monster on the mic! news Exclusive: Planet Asia Speaks On Rumors - May 27, 2005 By : SGV

According to the SOHH's YaHeard page, Fresno's Planet Asia got jacked for his chain recently at a Game concert.

Asia spoke with DubCNN about the situation and disspelled all untrue rumors. Here's what he had to say:

For all you Backpackers out there, first of all, none of the artists you are trying to compare me to are similar to me. I was born in the Projects, I grew up in the Projects. My hands been dirty. I never grew up with everything like most of these Backpack cats ya'll comparin' me to. Very few cats get their chain back when they get jacked. You really gotta be in the streets to get yo chain back.

Also, Game did not get me my chain back, I don't even know him like that. Someone affiliated with was the one who got it back. Not to mention, this was at the a Peace Conference, it wasn't at no show.

Since my first EP and the first Cali Agents album, we been holding big guns. But, that ain't the message I'm trying convey. My message is, whatever you hear from Planet Asia is Planet Asia. I'm being Planet Asia. You can't judge a man off one EP. Thats only 6 songs!

All you dickriders, stay off the chat lines. And yea, I still walk around dolo with a big chain. That made me buy a new chain to go with the old chain. And I live in South Central. If you wanna holla at me, I'm in South Central. I dont live in the Suburbs. Stop comparing me to groups who sound nothing like me. I came in the game with Street cats!!!

Planet Asia never gets punked! I never lost a fight! I never been jumped! I walks dolo!

Bottom Line: I TAKE NO LOSES!!!!

(Dubcnn Note: While the the bulk of the story was true, there were many facts that weren't. So don't always believe what you read unless its from the horses mouth.)

news Mac Minister suspect in Fat Tone murder! - May 26, 2005 By : Yash

A war between West Coast and Midwest rappers is blamed for two murders in Las Vegas. The men's bodies were found in a neighborhood under construction in Southern Highlands on Monday. Now police are searching for three suspects.

Metro police raided a home Tuesday night, but the suspects already fled. The home is just blocks away from the murder scene.

Brandon Marx, a neighbor says, "I heard a lot of people saying, come out with your hands up." Marx was at his girlfriend's Southern Highlands home Tuesday night when he heard Metro's SWAT team knock down the neighbor's door.

Marx says, "I just went out to see and there were three SWAT guys behind the truck and they were telling us to go back in the house, go back in the house. So, we just went back in."

Police were looking for the renter, 24-year-old Jason Mathis, murder suspect, 34-year-old Andre Dow and 27-year-old Tanisha Aaron, the owner of the car where the two murdered men were found on Monday morning.

Dow, known as "Mac Minister," made headlines five years ago when he and another rapper brawled at the nationally televises Source Awards in Pasadena, California.

The bodies of the victims have been identified as 22-year-old Jermaine "Cowboy" Atkins and his best friend, 23-year-old Anthony Watkins, known as rapper, Fat Tone.

In his music, the Kansas City rapper documents the gang war between him and people associated with rapper Mac Dre from the San Francisco Bay area. Mac Dre was killed in a drive-by on a Kansas City highway last November. Rumor has been that Fat Tone was the shooter, but he was never arrested for the crime.

The victims' family says the two men were in town for a Snoop Dogg concert at the Palms Tuesday night. The family says that Mac Minister lured the two men to their death on Sunday night at the MGM Grand hotel by promising to hook them up with Snoop Dogg's record label. Instead they ended up dead in a Southern Highlands neighborhood.

Police have found the suspect's vehicle dumped in Vallejo, California.

Police found little furniture inside the home and believe that the three suspects are on the run in the Bay area now.

Sources at Metro say that the Snoop Dogg concert was almost canceled in fear of retaliation at the event. But a spokesperson at the Palms hotel says that wasn't true, and the concert went on as scheduled without any added extra security

news R.I.P. Fat Tone - May 25, 2005 By : mrtonguetwista

Kansas City Rapper Killed in Las Vegas
Kansas City, MO/South of Las Vegas, NV --- A Kansas City rapper is shot and killed in a neighborhood south of Las Vegas. A security guard found 22-year-old Anthony Watkins, also known as "Fat Tone", dead inside a car at the end of a cul-de-sac in a neighborhood near Vegas. Another man was dead on the ground nearby. Investigators say both men were shot several times. In October 2003, Watkins was supposed to perform at Millenium Club on Kansas City's east side, but someone shot him during what police call a 'rolling disturbance.'
Watkins had just left a radio station near 47th and Main when that shooting happened. Detectives do not know who's responsible for Fat Tone's death, but police in Kansas City say Watkins may have known something about the murder of a California rapper named Mac-Dre. Dre died in a drive-by shooting in Kansas City last fall.

news Snoop Dogg Wants To Help Suge Knight! - May 24, 2005 By : Nima

In a new interview with MTV.com, Snoop Dogg stated that not only does he want to squash the beef with Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight, but he's also ready to extend a helping hand out to him. Sounds crazy, doesn't it? Well it's true. On his quest to unite the West, Snoop has no limits.

Here is the full article, courtesy of MTV.com:

"Just like the title of his latest single, "Ups & Downs," so goes the saga of Snoop Dogg and Suge Knight.

As Tha Row's number one artist in the early and mid-'90s, Snoop anchored Suge's empire. Since the Dogg parted ways with Suge, though, the relationship between the two has been nasty (see "Snoop Calls Suge Knight A Bitch On Upcoming Album"). They've dissed each other countless times in public, and they even almost locked horns at the BET Awards once during an untelevised standoff between their crews.

The Dogg, however, says he's older and wiser and that he's done beefing with the man he once threatened to slap with his pimp hand. Last month Snoop organized a summit for West Coast artists called the Protect the West Conference, and the agenda for attendees such as the Game, Mack 10, Daz and Kurupt was squashing beef (see "Snoop Dogg Holds Summit To Squash Beefs, Unify West Coast"). Snoop decided it was the best place to set aside his differences with his former boss.

"Suge didn't show up," he said, "but you know, as far as we're both concerned, we don't have no problems with each other no more. We're just trying to move forward because he's trying to do business. They're trying to take him out the game, and I don't want to see him go out of the game like that because I've got love for him. He gave me opportunity when nobody else would. I'm a grown man now, so I've learned to forgive people for what they've done, for what they know not."

Snoop speaks so highly of Suge, some sort of collaboration between the two doesn't seem like as much of a pipe dream as it did even three months ago.

"I feel like I can help him like he helped me," Snoop continued. "It's just a matter of us trying to come together and me looking at the situation. You know, when you see a brother down, do you kick him or do you give him a hand? I was taught to give him a hand. So I'm just trying to help. I don't have any problem with Suge Knight, Death Row Records, more power to them. I wish them success and luck."

A spokesperson for Suge Knight could not be reached for comment.

Another huge reconciliation to come out of the summit was Kurupt rejoining the Dogg Pound Gangsta Clique. Kurupt has been on the How the West Was One Tour with his homies Snoop, Daz and Soopafly (see "Snoop And Game Beef Up Their How The West Was One Tour"), and the entire collective has been recording a full DPGC album.

"It was crazy the first couple of nights," Snoop said, "but the first song that we actually laid down, Kurupt was so hard on the song, man, he was so vicious with the verse, I didn't even want to rap on it. I was like, 'I can't match him.' He came back, his blade was so sharp. It touched me in the heart to hear him like that because I could just tell he was holding back, like, 'I gotta say this but I don't have the right scenario.' It was just a great uplifting for us to put him back into the building with us. And it helped us. Now we're on the road, we're traveling, we're doing some of that classic DPG music onstage. Just to see us all up there smiling, having a good time, interacting is beautiful."

The DPGC are about seven songs into the album, and Snoop said to also look for Nate Dogg and Warren G on the album. Snoop wants to put his latest group project out later this year but has not settled on a label yet."

news POWERHOUSE 2005 CONCERT REVIEW - May 22, 2005 By : JustinL

What up everyone. I just got back from Powerhouse 2005, and all I can say is holy shit. The Anaheim show tonight definitely epitomized the name of the tour, "How the West Was One". Unfortunately I was not able to make it to the Bone Thugs and NB Ridaz segment, but arrived in time for a very energetic Busta Rhymes set. The Game came on next, rollin deep with Black Wall Street & Young Hoggs. He performed "How We Do", "Higher", "Hate it or Love it", "Put You on the Game", "Westside Story", etc. He even brought his son out and held him while performing "Like Father Like Son". Snoop Dogg then performed a 2 hour set, and brought out the best from the west, reminiscent of the legendary "Up in Smoke Tour". Guests of the night included Tha Dogg Pound ( Daz and Kurupt), Soopafly, Nate Dogg, Warren G, Lady of Rage, Ooh Wee, Bad Azz, Lil 1/2 Dead, RBX, Pharell, Cypress Hill, and Toddy Tee. It was great to see the DPGC reunion with Daz, Kurupt, Snoop, Nate, and Soopafly all on stage together at once, and also seeing the 213 crew on stage together doing the track "So Fly". Warren G and Nate Dogg also got to perform their classic "Regulate" to an overwhelming response, while Bad Azz got to join Snoop on stage for "Wrong Idea." Snoop also began to reminisce about his days at Death Row Records, and with the rare opportunity, all members were present to do the classic track "Stranded on Death Row". Snoop also paid tribute to Mix Master Spade, and traded verses with Toddy Tee while he performed the old school classic "Batteram".
Some of the tracks they did during the night:
Xxxplosive, Next Episode, Murder was the Case, Bitch Please, Nuthin but a G Thang, Pump Pump, Serial Killa, Regulate, Snoop Upside Ya Head, So Fly, Afro Puffs, Aint No Fun , Lets Get Blown, Drop It Like Its Hot, Beautiful Stranded on Death Row, Wrong Idea, Whats My Name, Gin and Juice, What Would You Do?, Tha Shiznit, etc.

I will try to get some pictures up soon. This was west coast at its finest...

news Back To Basics [Audio]! - May 21, 2005 By : Yash

When discussing champions of real hip-hop, two names are guaranteed to come up:

news Ties Between Persians & Hiphop Now A Habitt - May 19, 2005 By : Nima

With Oakland rapper Habitt's debut album, "Talk Of The Town" on Fat Daddy Records out this week, the record label headed by actress Yvette Wilson and her husband Jerome Harry, there have been some questions regarding the identity of one of the album's featured artists. The Iranian-born poetess and singer Aku G. Fort makes her foray into hiphop, singing the chorus on the album's track "Hypnotize". Her vocals are sung in Persian, as Mid-East meets West Coast hiphop.

Aku says, "A lot of young people are now supporting Persians like myself, who are active in hiphop culture. Many of us want to rebel against the racism we are seeing go on against us, and it happens to us no matter where we are in the world, what countries around the world." She notes that racism has increased since 9-11, and unfortunately, too many people blame all Mid-Easterners for the political situation.
Hiphop, she says, can help people learn that this prejudice is wrong.
Aku notes, "Hiphop is a universal language. I see a lot of people from different countries who are saying things in hiphop music that they never had the guts to say in their own culture's melodies. Hiphop is a format where the music and flow lend themselves to be able to say things are hard to express through other sorts of music. It's also part of the attitude of hiphop. You feel free to say things that you couldn't say before, anywhere else."

She adds that due to the precarious situation in certain Mid-Eastern countries, this freedom is being enjoyed for the first time by many of those who never had that liberation before. "It means a lot to us," she explains. "Persian people who relate to hiphop do so because they can express themselves through it better than with anything else. Hiphop is like a temple where they can go and be freed." It is cathartic, she maintains, noting that hiphop "is like a medication for them because it allows them some release, and it is so precious."

She is quick to point out, "If there is anything we appreciate, it is freedom."

Another factor that adds to the bond between many people of Persian descent and hiphop is that many hiphop songs explore racism. "A lot of hiphop songs have special meaning to people who are being unfairly discriminated against. This racism has escalated against Persians because of the war. Since many songs in hiphop address racism and trying to make it in a world where unfortunately, we have to contend with racism, those songs become very personal to us. We are trying to live in a positive way, despite bad vibes that come from certain people who justify their racism, and they cling to it in order to feel a false sense of superiority."

"Hiphop is the most free form of expression," she contends. "With the war going on, and all the racism against people from the Mid-East, regardless of where they may be in the world, this is the one place where we can express ourselves and say something about it--in hiphop."
Aku says, "I am so happy that I have a chance to express myself through hiphop, and to represent, to speak about my own people and nationality. I want to thank hiphop for giving me this opportunity."

"Talk Of The Town" is available in stores nationwide.

news Exclusive: Justo (R.I.P.), Cali Untouchables Pics - May 18, 2005 By : SGV

Last Saturday morning, as you all know, Justo Faison, creator and founder of The Mixtape Awards, passed. Justo was one of the few REAL people in the Industry. He helped your favorite Mixtape DJ's get to where they are today. Mixtapes were accepted by Majors now and Justo played a big role in that. He will be missed and forever remembered as a pioneer in Hip Hop!

Here's a quote about Justo from legendary Beat Junkie DJ Rhettmatic:

"I met Justo back in 97 when he was still working at Atlantic. He was always cool whenever we ran into each other at some convention. Even to this day, he was always cool. I haven't seen Justo for almost 7 years, until I ran into him at a gig in Los Angeles and he gave me a hug. He even told me that he was following my career with the Beat Junkies; I was even surprised that he actually kept up. He even offered my crew to actually submit mixtapes to his Mixtape Awards, but I joked with him about that we really didn't fit into his scheme of things and thanked him for the love anyways......He was a good man and he definitely rep the DJs. His passing will definitely be a hard void to fill."

Like I had stated earlier when I reported his untimely death, I had the pleasure of meeting Justo out here in L.A. Thanks to my partner Big Junior of RapTalk.net here are some exclusive Pictures from the King Magazine party held at the HighLands in Hollywood, as well as the Avila Brothers Release party, also in Hollywood.

news Introducing Female Artist: Dutchez - May 17, 2005 By : Nima

The world has been waiting for a new female hip hop artist to set the music game straight. She has to be able to spit raw ryhmes for the streets and still be ladylike. She must have her own unique style of fashion and image similar to Da Brat and Aaliyah. She has to be gangsta like 2Pac, but pimperish like Snoop Dogg. She will be a sexy spit-fire thug chick. We have been traveling around the world, coast to coast, city to city, state to state, country to country for the past 10 years looking for the perfect female rap artist to fill the void. Our final destination....Californ-I-A.

Allow me to formally introduce Dutchez a.k.a Dutch Da Dame.

Hold up...! Let me make this clear! I’m the only chick running biz this year

Dutchez (Danisha Jefferson) was born in the little town of Batesville, Mississippi. Her parents were both in the military, so she has traveled all around the world. “Every 3 to 4 years we were packing up and moving to a different part of the world, so I love to travel.” She started writing poetry at the age of 12 and 3 years later, joined the school band.

She began combining her poetry with musical scores written by for band. Now put spoken words on top of groovy instrumentals and you have Hip Hop Music. In 1997, Dutchez moved to Moreno Valley, California. “It’s a whole nutha world in California. I had to not only be book
smart, but also street smart.
” After doing numerous collabs and features with local cliques, she found a home at Paper’d Up Records. Currently Da Dame is working with Dr. Stank, finishing up her album. She is also working on a mixtape titled “Fo Dem Streets”. She has been performing at clubs and talent showcases for the last 5 years struggling to be seen and heard.
I am very versatile. I can speak knowledge to educate the youth or I can spit that raw sh&! for my people in the streets.
The album has a variety of tracks including gangsta rap, hip hop, r&b, reggae...Music for anyone who loves music no matter the type. Dutch Da Dame will be dropping a single in late summer 2005. Dutchez is Here! “It’s about time a real b&*#! stepped up on the scene, wit California Dreams!

Check out two of her songs below, more coming soon:

Dutchez - Get Live

Dutchez - Wanna Be Yo Friend

Shouts out to Sylvia from Platinum Queens, keep it up!

"If you are a real Dogg Pound fan, this Cali Untouchable project is for you" says DJ Warrior.

"You can't recreate this type of mixtape it is just impossible. Everything is so on point and there is so much depth to this mixtape it is more or less an album...Cali Untouchable style. You can listen to this 100 times and still pull things out of it. 6 months in the makings this mixtape has seen Kurupt at war with Tha Dogg Pound, Roscoe in a near fatal car accident, and finally the reuniting of one of the top 5 tightest rap groups Tha Dogg Pound! Worldwide this is the illest project out from the streets of the West Coast. I feel this is like a combination of Warrior's Outlaw Warriorz 1 and my Palm Trees & Gangstas 1. Its an artist album but a mixtape to the fullest. Get ready for the next Cali Untouchable project...." says DJ Strong.

Two months ago a west coast peace treaty put together by Steve Harvey and Snoop Dogg himself, called together all West Coast hip hop artists. Cali Untouchable DJs founders DJ Warrior and DJ Strong were two of three of the only DJ's selected to represent at the peace treaty. Since all problems are resolved, Kurupt has joined the "How the West Was Won" tour and has been freestyling with Game onstage every night since he joined the tour.

DJ Warrior adds "We're the most exclusive street DJ's for the West Coast. We're the pioneers of this Hip Hop West movement, period". Check your west coast network of online sites for exclusives and audio. Cali Untouchable Radio Pt. 5 is available at www.hiphopwest.com

news R.I.P. Justo Faison - May 14, 2005 By : SGV

The Hip Hop world has just been struck with a huge blow, Justo Faison, the founder/creator of The Justo's Mixtape Awards, has passed. According to sources, he was in driving in Richmond, Virgina, doing promotions, which ended in a fatal car accident, early Saturday morning.

I was getting my Oil changed when I got the phone call from DJ Warrior about Justo's passing. It was saddening to hear, to say the very least. I had the pleasure of meeting Justo twice when he was out here in L.A. recently. He showed me a lot of love. I thanked him for showing the West Coast love at a predominatly East Coast function. I knew, just by talking to him, he had no cares about East Coast/West Coast or anything of the sort. He wanted to see Hip Hop progress, as a whole. He will be missed.

"Justo is a person that gave me, not only business, but personal advice, as well. He made Mixtapes official to the industry. He took it to another level for a person like me, who came from nothing and had been grinding so long. I can say that I got my break, to a certain degree, because of him. The Mixtape Awards got me recognition throughout the Hip Hop world. Rest in Peace to him. My Condolences to his family. This is Big loss for Hip Hop today. He was a legend." - DJ Warrior of Cali Untouchable DJs.

As the news came in, so did the phone calls and E-Mails of people sending their condolences and speaking on this tragic news. Here's some quotes from DJ's and Artists.

"Justo made mixtapes happen, he was the one who brought the industry to love mixtapes, to get their artists out. He gave the DJ the strive to make a good mixtape, he brought the awards where the DJs would think if I made a hot mixtape and if I was consistant maybe I would win one. Justo is a legend to the DJs and a great man he will be missed. May Justo R.I.P.." - DJ Papa Smirf

"Big ups to my man Justo, the true Mixtape King. He helped make Mixtape DJ's and Artists. He was able to break down the barriers and bring together the East Coast, West Coast, South, Midwest, Reggae, Reggaeton, etc. He'll be missed. My condolences go out to him and his family." - DJ Hideo of Cali Untouchable DJs.

"Rest in Peace to one of the coolest niggas. He was a real good brotha from the streets to the corporate shit. My condolences." - Chace Infinite of Self Scientific.

"Rest in Peace to Justo. Condolences to him and his family from Strong Arm Steady. He had a great vision for Hip Hop. Furthering everything cats were doing in the U.S. and took it all over the world. Justo gave a platform, something to look for, more so than other hierarchy of award shows. He set tone for real cats in the street makin' names for themselves. From East Coast to West Coast to London. He'll be missed, gotta keep his legacy pushing and alive." - Krondon of Strong Arm Steady.

"Salutes to Justo. This is a tragic loss to Hip Hop. He did a lot for Mixtape DJs when he didn't have to. To be nominated and apart of the Award's is an honor. On behalf of all Cali Untouchable DJs. Condolences to him, his family, friends. I wish it didn't happen. Again, this is a big loss for Hip Hop. He was a Father figure. Hope to see legacy live on. Hope its like Oscar's of Hip Hop for DJs." - DJ Strong of Cali Untouchable DJs.

"In 2003, I moved to NY from Oakland, California, dead broke with dreams of making it in the DJ business. After only being in NY for a week, totally unknown, Justo reached out to me and offered to drive me around to all the boroughs and educate me in the Mixtape game. From that moment on, Justo became my homeboy. Throughout my DJ grind, whenever I had a question or problem, Justo was always ready to listen and help out. If you were real with Justo, he would ride with you no matter what. Those that didn't like him, he didn't do that industry bullshit and pretend to like them either. In 2004 I won a Mixtape of the Year Award. This was an incredible feeling. But my greatest Hip Hop moment was being nominated for a Mixtape Award in 2003, where I sat at Justo's Mixtape Awards at the plushed out Manhattan Center alongside legends like Kid Capri and Redman. At the moment, I went from being a Hip Hop fan to feeling like I was part of the Hip Hop movement - my greatest award ever. I owe all that to Justo." - DJ Vlad.

Tragic loss! I never met him personally but heard nothin' but good things about him. Justo was the pulse of the street, his Award was something that represented hard work and really what this music is: The Streets." - Balance.

"He was doing something good for the community and had a good outlook on Hip Hop. Rest in Peace." - Styles P of The Lox.

Devestating. He had plans to do the Awards in Madison Square. That was his goal to get there. That was the hugest thing for Hip Hop. He had been working on that. He wanted the world to know what the Mixtape awards were about. Its gonna be hard to replace him. He did the most for Mixtape djs. He put money in DJs pockets. There was nothing like the Mixtape Awards. Huge loss to the Mixtape world. Its gonna be hard to do anything he ever did. He had plans to do a Justo Mixtape every week. He started it last week. He was gonna be on Rap City on May 22nd. He had a good heart. For some to recognize DJs, you have to have a good heart. Hes gone be missed and it’s a big loss he made Mixtapes commercial, nobody ever did that.” - DJ SynCity

"You can't measure what he has done for Hip-Hop on a whole. He is a big reason why we have moved 101,000 since 2001." - Annonymous Records.

Justo recently released a DVD Documentary about the Mixtape Awards. For those who never knew him and those who did, PLEASE Cop The Mixtape Documentary!!!

Let's keep the Legacy alive and keep his dream intact! R.I.P. to a true legend and great person. Dubcnn sends our condolences to Justo and his entire Family and Friends.

We will be Editing this post, adding more shout outs, as well as Pictures and Audio, over the next few days. Continue to pay attention to this.

R.I.P. Justo Faison

news Exclusive: Jacki-O - TKO (Foxy Brown Diss) - May 2, 2005 By : SGV

It's about to be a what?! Girlfight! As most of you know, not too long ago Miami's Jacki-O got into a fist fight with the Foxy Brown in a Miami Studio. Well, stories vary, so I won't go into what I heard. All I know is the good folks over at Poe Boy have sent us the first lyrical jab in this already physical confrontation in the form of "TKO."

Jacki talks about their altercation in the first verse. But, the beginning bars of the second verse stuck out the most.

"And if Kurupt gave a fuck about a bitch, you wouldn't hate him/You walk around frustrated hoe, cuz you ain't Kim!"

Well, I explained enough, here's the track:

Jacki-O - TKO.
