news The Exclusive Ali Vegas Interview - July 30, 2008 By : Jonathan Hay

Ali! Ali! Ali! The crowd chants as if back in the 70’s during an intense Muhammad Ali title fight. But, in this setting, the crowd is chanting for a ferocious rhyme-slayer by the name of Ali Vegas.

Unlike the city of sin, you will find Ali Vegas to be a humble contestant who has fought hard to keep his integrity, spirituality, and positive outlook in this game -- a rarity that is refreshing to find in a world of self-centered, materialistic hip-hop.

On the verge of releasing Generation Gap 2: The Prequel, a concept album merging old school artists and new school artists in the form of teachers and students, Ali Vegas speaks with Dubcnn about his original idea to introduce the past to the future, and vice vegas.

“If yesterday could understand tomorrow or tomorrow could understand the troubles of yesterday, then today would be a better day,” says Ali, adding, “[I wanted to] put the students and the teachers in one classroom.” And with marquee appearances from Rakim, Styles P and AZ, and production from the heavy-hitters such as DJ Premier, L.E.S., Scott Storch, Cool and Dre, this emcee’s future is looking very bright.

Ali! Ali! Ali! Students please find your desks; class is about to begin...it’s the exclusive Ali Vegas Interview, right here on Dubcnn.

news Suga T Readies New Album & "The Be About It Project" - July 29, 2008 By : Rud

A local promotional company and Suga-T of E-40 and the Click unite to bring forth a positive event to both the Modesto and Stockton communities. Suga-T, along with Ms. Toi, most famously known from Ice Cube’s smash hit, "You Can Do It," and Salt-N-Pepa’s legendary deejay, Spinderella, seen recently on the popular VH-1 reality show, The Salt-N-Pepa Show, will be celebrating Spinderella’s Birthday with parties at the Fat Cat Club, in Modesto, California, on August 1st, and Chativas Sports Bar & Grill at the Waterfront, the following day on August 2nd, in Stockton, California. Doors will open at 9pm on both days.

This event is not just a birthday celebration, but it is also helping to support the launch of "The Be About It Project," an organization designed to mother, educate, and keep the peace and unity in the community. Suga-T, Ms. Toi, and Spinderella are all in full support of this project. Not only is Suga-T completely excited about being able to perform her long overdue, new album, "The Game Needs Me," but even more important is the fact that she truly enjoys empowering youth and families through innovative initiatives, and building hope for those who are dealing with adversity through education, recreation, lack of employment & motivation, low self-esteem, and at-risk behaviors.

By creating positive events in the community, and standing in unity and support of this movement, these Renaissance Women join together in alliance to make positive change. "In talking to my manager and advisory team, we started thinking, 'What if we created workshops to connect with people, and the fan-base, to foster a deeper and more personal relationship in an effort to create real change, opportunities, and solutions to issues that adversely impact communities, and help people improve their lives through the platform of music," Suga states matter-of-factly, "Instead of looking at what's wrong in the world, let's look at what we can do to change it through love and respect of all persons; regardless of race, sex, national origin & creed, and work together as the human family to ‘Save Our Planet’."

In addition, Suga-T highlights economic, political & social issues, and provides a forum through her lecture series, for her fans to become, what she calls, "Change Agents," and network to promote action, creativity, courage, and positive solutions for communities.

Suga-T is a nationally known recording artist, entrepreneur, TV personality, and in-demand lecturer, who also holds a Guinness World Record for having the biggest brother/sister duet ever created, in 1995’s ‘Sprinkle Me,’ from E-40’s platinum-plus "In A Major Way" LP.

news Bigg Joe West Lays Out His Thoughts In An Exclusive Freestyle - July 24, 2008 By : Rud

One half of the Young Giantz is back on Dubcnn today with an exclusive freestyle for our readers. Bigg Joe West, the son of Playa Hamm and brother of Duece Mac who make up Young Giantz, had some issues to get off his chest and has delivered it in the form of a freestyle track entitled "Weeest" - the same title as the track we dropped from them back in 2007, listen again here.

Bigg Joe West, pictured, had this to say about his current situation when he dropped off the track; "We are currently in the streets selling our music everyday you know just paying our dues. You know we been doing this seriously for the last eight years so were just creating our buzz. news Unsigned Hype: The Exclusive Catskill Interview - July 22, 2008 By : Jonathan Hay

Catskill is an up and coming cat in the business who’s looking to settle into a major deal -- and a new home on the West Coast -- so naturally, we saw it fitting to bring this exclusive interview to Dubcnn. He doesn't exactly mince words, making this interview something fierce, entertaining and narcissistic.

As his name suggests, this Canadian cat is packing a dangerous skill that has the industry whispering the name of this self-described heir to the throne. Put him on exhibit with his swagger and style and you have three weapons of mass destruction bombarding the scene hardcore and causing a bidding war within the industry comparable to the size of World War II, everyone vying to offer this stray cat a home.

Although the public does not yet know him, it seems many people I talk to within the industry have the name Catskill on their tongue -- and it's no wonder; with a string of offers and bids to choose from, everyone's wondering where he will end up.

So, familiarize yourself with the name Catskill, let's make him feel at home with a nice warm welcome of Cali hospitality.

Also, you've got to download and check out this exclusive Dubcnn song titled, "News (The Dubcnn song)” with Paul Katsnelson, and be on the lookout for his single, "Cats Kill", featuring Bizarre from D12.

news Dr. Dre Talks To USA Today About "Detox" - July 22, 2008 By : Nima

In a new article published in USA Today, Dr. Dre talks about the long-awaited "Detox" and reveals that he's pushing for a November or December release. Check out the article below:

"The wait for Detox is almost over. Dr. Dre says his long-anticipated third solo album is starting to take shape in the studio and could arrive before the end of the year.

"I'm just now — over the last couple of months — starting to feel that it's going to be right and it's something I can be proud of, and everybody is going to love it," says Dr. Dre (aka Andre Young). "In a perfect world, I'm shooting for a November or December release."

If that happens, it will come nine years after his six-times-platinum "2001", which was itself a long-awaited follow-up to his revered 1992 debut, The Chronic That album's bass-fueled G Funk sound dominated rap for years and propelled Snoop Dogg to superstardom. Both albums raised the bar for hip-hop production values.

"I've never set out to do that," says Dre, 43. "I just make the music feel the way I want it to feel and I don't put it out until I'm totally happy with it. Then it does what it does."

Expectations for the album are high, thanks to Dre's pedigree and perfectionist reputation, says Chuck Creekmur, co-founder of the music news site allhiphop.com.

"He's a master of crafting a complete album, which is rare these days with everything being singles-driven," Creekmur says. "We've been waiting on this almost a decade, and that ridiculous level of anticipation will translate saleswise. It would be on par with Lil Wayne (whose Tha Carter III recently sold 1 million copies its first week out), if not more."

"Detox" has been the subject of speculation since Dre first hinted at the project in 2002. He has been working on the album, which will be released on his Aftermath/Interscope Records label, on and off for four years. He says he has assembled a new crew of musicians, and the beats will be heavily driven by live drums. "We have an entirely new thing going with the drums that's incredible, and we're still developing that." All "the usual suspects" will make guest appearances, including Nas, Jay-Z and Lil Wayne.

As long as the wait for the upcoming album has been, Dre says it'll be even longer before there's another one. "I'm going to put this record out, promote it, tour and then become a hermit. I'm going to stay in the studio and produce."

But he says he isn't interested in producing albums for established artists. Dre, who previously helped launch Eminem and 50 Cent, says his goal is to find who's next.

"All I want to do is sit in the studio with that person for a year and try to create another masterpiece.

news Ice Cube, WC & The Game - Get Used To It [Audio] - July 21, 2008 By : Nima

Ever since the rumors surfaced about The Game replacing Mack 10 in Westside Connection, fans have been waiting to hear the trio's first collaboration on Ice Cube's upcoming album "Raw Footage" on the track "Get Used To It", which features both The Game and WC.

The song leaked early this morning and so far there have been mixed feelings towards the track. Those who were expecting a cliché West Coast banger will be dissapointed, the beat has a southern feel to it and the hook is rather simple, but there is no denying that the MC's do their thing on the track.

The Game probably comes off hardest, with a flow reminiscent of some old school Ice Cube stuff, with Cube and Dub both delivering solid verses. It's also nice to hear the voice who did the intro's on both Westside Connection albums featured at the end of the track.

Listen to "Get Used To It" below:

Ice Cube - Get Used To It (ft. WC & The Game) (Stream)

Don't forget "Raw Footage" is dropping August 19th!

news A Woman's Touch - July 21, 2008 By : Jonathan Hay

Every home is made better with A Woman's Touch. This is why Dubcnn is very excited to introduce to you a fresh new idea that will shine light on some key players of the female gender who have shaken our world of hip hop and urban music -- and made it a better place.

A Woman's Touch is a very special series that will spotlight some of the most influential and powerful women in our country -- ranging from prominent female artists to power players and fierce leaders -- women who have made a tremendous impact on our society and within our culture today.

This Dubcnn limited edition series is presented by Jonathan Hay and Chad Kiser -- however, A Woman's Touch wouldn't make quite an impact without a woman's perspective; so we've brought on board to help lead this revolution Sabrina, who is already working with the Who's Who of the industry.

If you have any news tips, ideas, or special guests you'd like to see featured, please contact Jonathan via MySpace or email at haywire@dubcnn.com. We always appreciate your input.

news Weekend Audio Vol. 12: Crooked I, Clyde Carson, Young Buck - July 20, 2008 By : Nima

Today marks the third month since we started our weekly Weekend Audio drops here on dubcnn, and we'd like to thank everybody for the positive feedback to this new feature. We've got lots of great tracks again this week, Clyde Carson's single with The Game, a Young Buck collabo with C-Bo and Brotha Lynch and some new Crooked I, to name a few.

Let's set things off the new single from Black Wall Street's Bay Area representative Clyde Carson, who fans have been patiently waiting for, as his solo album "Theater Music" has been pushed back repeatedly.

After a potential hit single in "Doin' Dat" with Sean Kingston which never took off due to sample clearance issues, Clyde is now launching another attempt with his new The Game-assisted track "Cali State Of Mind". A snippet of the track leaked a while ago, here goes the full track below:

Clyde Carson - Cali State Of Mind (ft. The Game)

The next track we have for you is a Dirty South/West Coast collaboration. I'm talking about former G-Unit rapper Young Buck going up to Sacramento for some of that Northern Cali fire. He hooked up with C-Bo and Brotha Lynch Hung for a track called "What Did Ya'll Do" which was supposed to appear on his "Product Of The South" compilation, which for obvious reasons hasn't dropped yet. The song is heat, Lynch destroys the beat, we need that album Lynch!! Check out "What Did Ya'll Do" below:

Young Buck - What Did Ya'll Do (ft. C-Bo & Brotha Lynch Hung)

Even though Crooked I stopped doing his "Hip-Hop Weekly" series, he's been feeding his fans new tracks on a regular basis. He recently entered Vibe.com's Best Rapper Alive contest where through different rounds they're going to pick a winner. Crooked is going up against The Game in the first round. To view all the brackets, click here. We have his entry track for you, he raps over Kanye West's "Stronger" beat, check it out:

Crooked I - Stronger (Vibe.com Freestyle)

Next up is a track with an artist who's been quiet for way too long. I'm talking about Sly Boogy from the I.E., who for a minute seemed like he was going to be the next to blow for the coast. He's been M.I.A. for the last two years and we're glad to bring you a new track that he's featured on. He hooked up with up and coming Orange County group Ill-Lit for a track called "The Life We Live", which will be appearing on Ill-Lit's upcoming album dropping later this year. The track was produced by South Gate's J. Steez, who's been working with Ill-Lit for a minute. Check out the song below:

Ill-Lit - The Life We Live (ft. Sly Boogy) (Prod. by J Steez)

Let's get to another up and coming group out of California, the production team Traklordz. The Bay Area producer duo is currently working on their album "Loose Cannonz", which will feature guest appearances by E-40, Glasses Malone, Keak Da Sneak, Clyde Carson, The Jacka, Turf Talk, San Quinn, Big Rich and Ya Boy amongst others. A first single off the project has been leaked, it's called "I'm A Hustla" and features Glasses Malone, Eddie Projex and Shu 100. Click below to check it out:

Traklordz - I'm A Hustla (ft. G. Malone, Eddie Projex & Shu 100)

Last but not least, we have a throwback joint for ya'll to close this week's "Weekend Audio" update. Kansas City's own Tech N9ne dropped his latest album "Killer" this month, for which we caught up with him for an in-depth interview (click here if you missed it). To celebrate the release, I went and popped some old Tecca Nina CD's in the deck and decided to bring you one of my personal favorites as a throwback joint. I'm talking about "This Ring", off Tech N9ne's album "Anghellic". You should all know the song, if you don't make sure to check it out below:

Tech N9ne - This Ring (Prod. by IcyRoc)

We're done, come back next week for more Weekend Audio!

news Nas - "Untitled" (Review) - July 15, 2008 By : Lil Jay

Today marks the release of one of this year's most talked about Hip-Hop albums, Nas with Untitled. Since the controversial record finally made it to shelves, it's only right that our own Conan Milne put his thoughts into words for the official Dubcnn review.

It receives the Dub Quotable: "Whilst Untitled certainly has Nas’ cocksure alter-ego Escobar seeping through it’s brashest moments, Nasir Jones’ refined wit and depth of knowledge remains unrivaled."

news Westside Connection: Ice Cube, WC and... The Game?! - July 15, 2008 By : Nima

The following news has not been confirmed by official sources, but it is what dubcnn is hearing right now... Word is that after the release of Ice Cube's new album "Raw Footage", he will probably be hitting the studio to work on a new Westside Connection album.

Now for those thinking that Mack 10 has reunited with Ice Cube and WC, we have to dissapoint you. From what we're hearing, it is likely that The Game will be replacing Mack 10 as the third member of WSC. You can get a first taste of the trio on "Raw Footage" on a track, ironically titled "Get Use To It".

The Game also made an appearance on WC's last album "Guilty By Affiliation" on the track "West Coast Voodoo", and Ice Cube made an appearance in The Game's current hit single "Game's Pain", where Game calls Cube his favorite rapper.

We are still waiting on a confirmation from the artists, but dubcnn will be keeping you updated as always!

news Weekend Audio Vol. 11: Snoop Dogg, Akil, G. Malone, Cassidy - July 13, 2008 By : Nima

The weekend is almost over, which means we're right on time for another edition of dubcnn's Weekend Audio, for the 11th time to be exact. We've plenty of hot new music, ranging from Akil of Jurassic 5, a Snoop Dogg collabo with a hot new R&B singer from the West, to producer Statik Selektah's new single and something from TJ Santana of the Young Hoggs, while going up to the Bay for a dose of Esinchill.

Let's get things going with somebody you haven't heard from in a long time, but Death Row Records fans will remember like it was yesterday: Swoop G.

Swoop G hit the scene with the Dogg Pound in the mid to late 90's and was supposed to be part of the second generation of Death Row artists to make it to the top. For obvious reasons, it did not happen and it seemed like Young Swoop had dissapeared for good. He's got a new single called "My Chuck Taylors" which features Glasses Malone and Kokane, as well as a new project coming soon, titled "C-Walkin' On The Moon". Check out "My Chuck Taylors" below:

Swoop G - My Chuck Taylors (ft. G. Malone & Kokane)

Let's switch over the R&B side of things for a minute. I want to introduce you to a young up and coming West Coast singer by the name of J. Blue, who recently inked a deal with Universal Motown. He's currently wrapping up his album "The Blue Book: From the Block to the Bed" and has landed a Snoop Dogg feature on his first single, "Hey". The club banger is sure to get the ladies going and promises a bright future for J. Blue. I was reminded of Chris Brown a bit when I first heard him, judge for yourself by checking out "Hey" below:

J. Blue - Hey (ft. Snoop Dogg)

Next up is something new from West Coast veteran Akil The MC, formerly of Jurassic 5. Akil has been quiet for a while, as he's been mapping out and putting together a big project that he likes to call Unified Los Angeles Skill District. The Unified Skill District consists of MC's, producers, beat makers, B-Boys/Girls, film, radio, graphic designers and all forms of entertainment business. He will be releasing a first CD with some of the talented MC's that he picked out for the project and we have a 8-minute track available with snippets of some of the tracks on there. Check it out below:

Akil - Unified Skill District (Snippets)

Let's go up to to the Bay Area real quick, to Oakland to be exact. You might remember Esinchill as an extended member of Digital Underground. He appeared on the "Who Got the Gravy?" album and later on released a slept on solo project. To me, he represents a side of the Bay Area that is often overlooked, a more conscious, deep side, far away from the Sydeshows and Hyphy crowds that the Bay is often stereotyped by. He's got a provocative track called "N-gga, B-tch, H-e" on which he talks about the effect those words cause, off his upcoming album coming later this year. Check it out below:

Esinchill - N-gga, B-tch, H-e

We gotta head out to the East Coast for the next track, and it's well worth it! Massachusetts producer/DJ Statik Selektah is getting ready to release the follow up to his debut album "Spell My Name Right" in September, titled "Stick 2 The Script". He once again has an insane lineup on the album and the first single sets the tone for the record. I'm talking about the title track, "To The Top (Stick 2 The Script)", for which Statik reached out to his main man Termanology, as well as Cassidy and Saigon. The result is lyrical slaughter, witness is below:

Statik Selektah - To The Top (Stick 2 The Script) (ft. Termanolgy, Saigon & Cassidy)

Last but not least is a new joint by Compton's own TJ Santana from the Young Hoggs. He's got a very creative new track called "Directions", throughout which he gives a female directions from the IE (Inland Empire) to Magic Johnson's Fridays in Inglewood, all in rap form. He reached out to fellow Young Hogg Killa Cane to jump on the track with him, which is set to appear on TJ's solo project "Therapy (The Truth Shall Set Me Free)" coming later on this year. Check out Directions" below:

TJ Santana - Directions (ft. Killa Cane)

We're done! Check back next week for more "Weekend Audio"!

news Wale Is On Dubcnn For "A Conversation About Nothing" - July 12, 2008 By : Nima

Not familiar with Wale? Really? It's about time to get you up to speed then. The Washington D.C. native has seen his buzz grow exponentionally throughout the last year, leading up to him signing a deal with Mark Ronson's Allido Records under Interscope Records.

Co-signed by greats such as Jay-Z, Kanye West, Bun B and Lil Wayne and having already toured the world on Mark Ronson's world tour last year, it looks like success is unavoidable for Wale, who brings listeners a fresh mix of Hip-Hop and Go Go music.

Dubcnn had the chance to catch up with him for "A Conversation About Nothing". Obviously, that's a spin-off off Wale's current mixtape, titled "Mixtape About Nothing", which was inspired by the TV series Seinfeld. Those who heard the "Mixtape About Nothing" already know that the title is ironic, as Wale touches on an array of different issues and topics on the mixtape. The same can be said about this interview.

We talk about him coming up in D.C., his influences, working with his idol Black Thought of The Roots and how he ended up signing with Jimmy Iovine's Interscope Records. He tells us why he's not worried about Interscope forcing him to switch up his sound, his experiences touring the world with Mark Ronson, and of course his "Mixtape About Nothing".

We end off the interview with a few words on his upcoming solo album, which by the way is set to feature production from Mark Ronson, Kanye West, Pharrell, Just Blaze, 9th Wonder and the French electronic music duo Justice.

Read or listen to the Wale interview below:

Look out for the full interview soon. We know this isn't much, but the "Detox" heads are grasping after every piece of news they can get, so this is for you.

news Press Release For Lil Eazy-E's "Prince Of Compton" Album - July 8, 2008 By : Nima

A new official press release for Lil Eazy-E's solo debut "Prince Of Compton" has just been issued. This raises hopes for the Compton rapper to finally drop his album, which fans have now been waiting on for several years. Check out the press release:

"The West Coast has birthed some of the hardest lyrics to hit the rap world, with songs like “F**k the Police,” “6 N the Mornin,” and “It Was a Good Day.” The heart of some of the grittiest rhymes emerged from the streets of Compton, where hustling, and gangbanging were a way of life.

NWA introduced the world to Gangster Rap in the 80’s; Lil Eazy-E will resuscitate it in 2008, with his debut release on the Universal/Blackground label “Prince of Compton,” scheduled to drop September 16, 2008. The first release “What We’re Claimin” is a gangster’s anthem, with rich lyrical flow over funky, hard hitting beats.

Lil Eazy-E continues the legacy of his late father, rap icon Eric Eazy-E Wright, by delivering a searing collection of bone-crushing songs about the streets of his hometown, Compton. Lil Eazy’s lyrics reflect on the life and untimely death of his father, giving listeners an intimate look into their world.

He is prepared to put his own personal twist on the legacy left by his father. Lil Eazy-E’s lyrics tell the story of his life growing up in Compton, and living with one of the icons of gangster rap. He addresses all who have questioned his skills, the life and death of his father, and studio gangsters building careers by imitating the appearance and persona of West Coast pioneers that brought the streets of South Central to the rap game. Having grown up with many of the legends of gangster rap, it’s only natural that he call-out those that are faking in their music and in front of the cameras.

Lil Eazy-E is holding nothing back. He is dealing with subjects that until now have been fueled by rumors, such as his lifestyle since his fathers passing.

A lot of people probably think I grew-up in the Suburbs of Southern California, living a privileged life. What they don’t know is I was born and raised in the same house as my father, the oldest of nine kids. We were a big family that all grew-up together. I lived the same life as my father, and I’m giving you that life on ‘The Prince of Compton’,” explains Lil Eazy-E.

Prince of Compton” brings West Coast rap back with a vengeance, merging the flavor of N.W.A on songs such as “Money and Power” and “They Killed You,” and mixing things up with “This Ain’t a Game” featuring Bone Thugs, which takes listeners back to the Ruthless days. Lil Eazy-E also pays homage to one of his childhood hero’s Ice Cube on “Shotgun” which was inspired by the street classic “Today Was a Good Day.”

Ice Cube was a huge influence on my record. Knowing him as a kid and then working with him as a man was a great learning experience,” said Lil Eazy-E.

With a phenomenal debut album, budding record company and fledgling roster of talented rappers, Lil Eazy-E is poised to become the next West Coast Rap Kingpin, just as his father did nearly 20 years ago."

Check out Lil Eazy-E's current single "What We're Claiming":

news Exclusive Interview With Killer Mike! - July 7, 2008 By : Jonathan Hay

Killer Mike is on the loose! He’s killing the game and creating a crazy buzz for his album I Pledge Allegiance To The Grind Part II, tearing through the fabric of America with his controversial politically-infused country rap tunes.

Teaming up with Ice Cube on the critically acclaimed song “Pressure”, Killer recently released the song’s highly provocative music video that’s been sparking conversation over the web and throughout politician offices and around water coolers nationwide.

Chad Kiser aka Noncentz and I didn’t have to put the pressure on Killer Mike to get this exclusive Dubcnn interview, as we caught up with him from the beautiful city of Louisville for a few minutes of real talk. We found that despite his ever-climbing public status, Killer’s music aims for the heart of those who serve as the foundation of the social ladder – bottom feeders, so to speak – coming from hard times himself and knowing exactly what it’s like to struggle through the time of the everyday grind.

We interrupt this program to bring you a Dubcnn Special Report. There has been a nationwide curfew issued, to take effect immediately. We ask that you raise your level of alertness and take precaution by securing all doors and windows. There is a Killer on the loose. We repeat: Killer Mike is on the loose on the West Coast.

The Killer Mike Interview

news Weekend Audio 10: Naughty By Nature, Montell Jordan, Kurupt - July 6, 2008 By : Nima

It's almost Sunday night, the end of the weekend is approaching, but we're still on time for this week's Weekend Audio blast on dubcnn. This week's biggest track was without a doubt Bishop Lamont's Dr. Dre-produced single "Grow Up", but here are some other tracks that slipped through the cracks.

Hip-Hop legends Naughty By Nature are still alive and kicking, as a matter of fact Treach, Vin Rock and Kay Gee have come together to work on a new group album, as well as to release their new clothing line Naughty Gear. This week they gave us a first taste of their new music.

They put together a remix to The Game's current smash "Game's Pain", which they flipped to "Hip-Hop's Pain". They reversed the concept of the song, giving it up to the new generation and shouting out many of the current stars of the Hip-Hop world. The chorus was handled by Rene Neufville of Zhane. Check it out below:

Naughty By Nature - Hip-Hop's Pain (ft. Rene Neufville)

Next up is another old school legend who's making a comeback. R&B singer Montell Jordan ("This Is How We Do It") is returning with a new album called "Pressure", and has released a first track from the record called "Not No More". The song is a collaboration with female singer Cignature from Atlanta. The album, "Pressure", is set to drop independently later this summer. Until then, listen to "Not No More" below:

Montell Jordan - Not No More (ft. Cignature)

Let's get to Philadelphia/California representer Tekneek aka Tek Nizzle. He's been repped in the Weekend Audio for the last few weeks and he keeps feeding us new tracks. He sent us a new joint this week that is hot to def. This is another solo track from the Tangled Thoughts producer/rapper. He collaborated with French producer Cartel Sons (All Day Music) on the track, while the cuts were provided by DJ Promo. It's called "Microphone Soloist" and showcases Tek's MC skills, check him out:

Tekneek aka Tek Nizzle - Microphone Soloist

It's been a hot minute since we heard from Inglewood group AllFrumTha I. While I don't have any news on the group, I do have something from one half of AllFrumTha I, Squeak Ru. Squeak recently inked a deal with Fontana/Universal distributed DMAFT Records, a part of the Oglio Entertainment Group, to release his solo debut "Fatworld" and the companion iTunes exclusive "Digital Fat World 2". "Fatworld" is set to feature Ice Cube, MC Eiht, Damani and G-Luv amongst others. We have a track off the album for ya'll, it's called "Belly Button", check it out:

Squeak Ru - Belly Button

Next is an up and coming artist from Arizona by the name of Tha Sire, who's been heavily networking with the West Coast. He recently released his album "Tha Arrival" and he's got a nice list of features on there: Kurupt, GOldie Loc, KMG, Kokane, Jayo Felony and Slim Tha Mobster all make appearances on "Tha Arrival", while production was supplied by Josef Leimberg, Tru and Mamie Gungz amongst others. We have an exclusive track off the album for ya'll called "No Game Playing", featuring Kurupt and Kokane:

Tha Sire - No Game Playing (ft. Kurupt & Kokane)

Lastly, we'd like to leave you with a throwback joint. I recently rediscovered this track while listening to Kurupt's "Space Boogie". It was one of the bonus tracks on the special edition of the album, called "The Life I Live" and featured R&B crooner Krook. I'm not sure who produced the track, but it's smooth as hell and features vintage Kurupt dropping some real life rhymes. news Killer Mike Releases Video To "Pressure" With Ice Cube - July 6, 2008 By : Nima

Dirty South heavyweight Killer Mike is gearing up to release his anticipated album "I Pledge Allegiance To The Grind Part 2", which will be in stores this coming Tuesday, July 8th. As usual, when it comes to a Killer Mike album, you can expect controversial content and politically charged music.

To leave listeners no doubt about his mindstate and his views on the current state of affairs in America, Killer Mike hooked up with the West Coast War Lord Ice Cube for a track called "Pressure", where the two do what they do best - hardcore rap music.

The production on the track comes from the West Coast production duo Tha Bizness. A video to "Pressure" was recently released, featuring lots of footage of current events, perfectly capturing the theme of the song. It's too bad that Ice Cube doesn't appear in the video, but it doesn't take away from the video in any way. Check out "Pressure" below, video and audio:

news Exclusive Interview with Shock G (Part 2) - July 5, 2008 By : Jonathan Hay

This is the second time I've spoken with Shock G in the form of an interview and I'm going to be honest: I really enjoy talking to him. Talking to Shock G, you can actually walk away with something from what he says...his words and descriptive thoughts resonate within. Shock G is food for the spirit - and we are all starving for something different...something a little left field and outside the box.

In this second part of the exclusive Dubcnn interview, Shock G opens up all the way about so many things -- from his last surreal encounter with Tupac, secrets of Humpty Hump, cocaine, more history on Digital Underground, God, Amy Winehouse and publicity stunts.

Enough said. I bring you Shock Talk: The Second Edition, raw and uncut as ever. This interview is a must-read!!!

In part 2, we dig a little deeper into his incredible history by discussing his involvement with Death Row projects like the Chronic and Doggystyle, as well as uncovering information about a few mysteries surrounding some projects from around that time, such as the Dr. Dre & Ice Cube original Helter Skelter album. We talk about working on the D.O.C.’s Helter Skelter project, who Erotic D’s influences were, the people he’s ghost-written for, and much, much more! Don’t miss out on Part 2 with Erotic D!

news Exclusive Interview With Young Maylay - July 4, 2008 By : Lil Jay

Damn it feels good to be independent! Not only is it Independence Day for America, but you could also use the opportunity to drop your album that same day as a symbolic reflection. In this case, today marks the release of Young Maylay's anticipated new street album "The Real Coast Guard". Unlike most projects which drop on Tuesdays, Maylay went and got his own street date to release his sophomore project.

It's already been over 3 years since Maylay entered the game with his critically acclaimed "GTA: San Andreas" mixtape. Back then, we put the spotlight on him and announced him as an artist with a lot of potential. With the release of this new project, we can definitely say that he made that transition from being an underground rapper to an important part of the new generation in West Coast Rap. And you know you can't go wrong when you have two West Coast vets like DJ Crazy Toones and WC present the project, which, by the way, is also backed by Dubcnn a 100%.

So it's only right that we chopped it up with Maylay and dicussed "The Real Coast Guard" in this indepth interview. We get into the name changes of the mixtape, comparisons to his previous project, quality control, being inspired and guided by Crazy Toones and Dub C on the project, the West Coast state as well as the ongoing new artists vs. old artists talk, future plans and much more.

Exclusive Interview with Young Maylay (July 2008)

As ever, you can read and listen to this exclusive interview and we urge you to leave feedback on our forums or email them to liljay@dubcnn.com.

"The Real Coast Guard" can now be ordered from Maylay's MySpace page. It comes with features from Toones, Dub C, King T, Jelly Roll, Bad Lucc, Traci Nelson, and of course Maylay himself bringing that realness straight from the streets.

Tracklist & audio preview:

news Dr. Stank Is Back With "The Smell From Hell" - July 4, 2008 By : Lil Jay

It's been a hot minute since we've heard from Riverside rapper/producer Dr. Stank. His well received street album "The Odor" was pretty much the only thing that the Ignorant Crew member served his fans with in the last two years, besides a few guest appearances here and there. Even though it's been quiet around the Stankdoc, he hasn't been sitting around doing nothing. Besides dealing with real-life issues, Stank kept pushing the music thing forward, both rapping and producing.

With that being said, Stank just hit us up with some brand new exclusives that he wants to blast off to the Dubcnn readers. Both tracks are taken from his upcoming street album entitled "The Smell From Hell", due out in August. The first song is a joint called "Buzzin" and if you've been following Stank's production you will be familiar with the vibe on that one. The second one is called "I Don't Sound Like None Of Y'all" and doesn't need any further introduction.

We'll keep you posted on the "The Smell From Hell" project. Speaking of new projects, Stank is currently in the studio with his partner in crime Dirty Birdy. They're working on a collabo project which will drop after "The Smell From Hell". You can expect a totally new sound, as they're both going left field for that one. More on that soon.

In the meantime you can check out the tracks below, both produced by Dr. Stank.

Dr. Stank - Buzzin'
Dr. Stank - I Don't Sound Like None Of Y'all

If you're looking for quality beats at affordable prices from Dr. Stank, hit up his MySpace page at myspace.com/thathathadoc.

news Exclusive: "Y'all My N-ggas" by Nas - July 2, 2008 By : Lil Jay

"It is absolutely silly and unproductive to have a funeral for the word n-gger when the actions continue", powerful words from The Last Poets on the Intro of Nas' "Project Roach". Words which reflect the concept for his upcoming "Untitled" album. As you might know, most tracks have been leaking left and right the last couple of days, so the West gotta do its part too and bring you another track from the album exclusively here on Dubcnn. It's one of the last "unheard" tracks called "Y'all My N-ggas" produced by J. Myers. Myers also produced "Breathe" and this one is kind of the same vibe with a mellow melody, definitely one of the lighter tracks from the album. Don't get it twisted though, Nasir went in on this joint.

Nas - Y'all My N-ggas

Be on the lookout for an indepth review of the album coming soon on Dubcnn. "Untitled" drops July 15th, so please do your job and pick up a copy. Support real Hip-Hop!

There is no doubt that Double-0 and Nalledge aka Kidz In The Hall have an unconventional success story compared to what you hear most of the time when talking to rap artists. The Chicago/New Jersey duo released their debut album "School Was My Hustle" in 2006 through Rawkus Records, and later aligned with Duck Down Records to release their latest album "The In Crowd".

They just released a West Coast remix to their current single "Driving Down The Block", using the "Nuthin' But A G Thang" sample.
