news 1145871683 - January 1, 1970 By : The most complete mixtape series on the planet is back with Part 10 of its award winning collection. "Cali Untouchable Radio" returns to showcase "The Lost Angel" Scipio - an artist featured on dubcnn many times and co-signed by copious names in the industry.

The Pasadena/Altadena native who was nominated for "Best West Coast Mixtape Artist" has linked up with "L.A.'s Mixtape King" DJ Warrior to create the mixtape/street album: "Cali Untouchable Radio Part 10: Angel Dust."

The release features sick original production interlaced with the hottest verses from Scipio and incredible guest appearences.

Having been grinding for years Scipio has been declared "The Last of the Greats" by Pharrell Williams of The Neptunes, acclaimed by Snoop Dogg and The Source magazine for his street single; "Street Dreams" while radio DJs like Felli Fel keep his material in regular rotation on 100.3 The Beat and Power 106. Countless Mixtape DJ's including DJ Clue have featured Scipio's talent as well as media outlets including ourselves providing regular updates and features on the New West talent.

"Cali Untouchable Radio Part 10: Angel Dust" although labelled a mixtape is more likely to be considered a Street Album as it features 13 tracks of original production by some of the hottest producers in the game such as Emile (D12 and Obie Trice) as well as the late J Dilla (De La Soul, Pharcyde, Common, Erykah Badu). As far as guest appearences on this release Scipio has gone all out and recruited artists like R&B sensation Teedra Moses and Dr. Dre's newest signee Bishop Lamont. The street album was completed in just 7 days; a feat last acheived by the Makaveli release nearly 10 years ago. Scipio has paid his dues now and its time those sleeping woke up to the talent he possesses. As ever to aid your decision to support the release and the westcoast as a whole we have the tracklist and snippets right here.

news 1162132206 - January 1, 1970 By : Noni Spitz has been building up his buzz as part of the New West Movement, and with his current mixtape-album "W.I.M.S. Radio: Walk In My Shoes", he's certifying his position on the West. We briefly caught up with Noni to talk about the CD.

"The mixtape is called W.I.M.S. Radio, Walk In My Shoes, cause basically I'm taking everybody on a walk through my shoes, showing you what my sound and my style and basically all about.", he says about the mix CD. "I'm bringing something new, fresh to the West Coast, hard core Hip-Hop soul, that's what I'm bringing, with a high lyrical content. The whole mix CD is based on the title "mixtape album" cause when you pop it in, the quality of the songs, everything is original, it's all album material, but we mixed it up, got it sounding like a mixtape. It's hosted by Mike Live from K-Day and Gangsta Granny, so it's got a whole radio feel to it, it's hot!"

He's also got some of the hottest New West artists featured on "Walk In My Shoes", Bishop Lamont, Roccett, Scipio, Dae One, Taje, Mykestro just to name a few. Noni Spitz is part of Jazzy Management, along side Clinton Wayne, The Young Hoggs, Fred Knuxx and more, so that should be a hint towards the quality of the music you can expect from Noni Spitz.

I have three preview tracks for everybody to listen to:

Noni Spitz - What It Iz
Noni Spitz - Cruise In (ft. Chevy Jones)
Noni Spitz - Dig That

Here is a little shoutout Noni Spitz recorded for all the dubcnn visitors:

news 1203801443 - January 1, 1970 By : Last week, we joined PR1ME on an expedition to the Magic Convention in Las Vegas. PR1ME's debut street album "The Transformation" was just completed, so it was time for everyone to get to work and spread copies around like crazy. As always, we brought our camera to document the trip. Our goal was to capture on film exactly what it takes for an up-and-coming artist to get his name out there and catch the attention of the right people.

The mission was a success for PR1ME and TakeOff Productions, with over 5,000 copies of "The Transformation" being distributed.

Along the way, we had a lot of fun as well. Look out for guest appearances from artists that we ran into during the convention like Bun-B, Young Jeezy, Pusha T of The Clipse, Mos Def, Taje, September 7th, Bad Lucc, and Damani.

This video is one of the tightest we've ever had on Dubcnn! It's an absolute must-watch for anyone interested in how an individual makes "The Transformation" from an ambitious new MC to a future star. PR1ME did it, and you can too. Check out the video below!

news 1205619740 - January 1, 1970 By : After gaining a major buzz in 2007, The Bloc Boyz (K-Boy & Ace) are gearing up to flood West Coast hip-hop fans with quality music for the rest of this year. Between a new mixtape “Reality Check” that’s dropping for free download in a few weeks, and their long-awaited street album “Real Talk”, The Bloc Boyz are putting themselves in a perfect position to blow up in ’08.

K-Boy and Ace have been friends since high school, but it wasn’t until later that they officially came together to form The Bloc Boyz. “We ran back into each other somewhere on Sunset, linked up, and started doing a couple little things. Ever since then, that sh*t was just right,” said Ace. At the time, K-Boy had already aligned himself with Glasses Malone after an impromptu freestyle session. K-Boy recalls, “When me and Ace got back into contact, I [said to Glasses], ‘I’ve got a boy that wants in’. Once he heard Ace, it was a wrap. Since then, it’s been Blu Division for like three-and-a-half or four years now!”

In ’07, The Bloc Boyz appeared on a variety of mixtapes, including Glasses Malone’s “Electric Chair”. [
Download Here] With the Death Row theme surrounding the project, instant comparisons were made, and some declared The Bloc Boyz as Tha Dogg Pound for a new generation. When asked about this, Ace simply said, “The Dogg Pound put it down hard for the streets. We take that as a compliment. Shouts out to Kurupt, shouts out to Daz.” The duo worked with Daz on “The Electric Chair” as well, and they considered it an honor. K-Boy told us, “To link up with a legend and a motherf*cker that you grew up to, listened to, and looked up to? That’s crazy! For him to f*ck with us, and for him to give us that stamp, it’s unbelievable. I’m lost for words.”

As of late, the self-described “lab rats” have been recording material non-stop. The first offering from The Bloc Boyz will be “Reality Check”, a mixtape hosted by DJ Ill Will, DJ Rampage, and DJ Blvd. When asked about the project, Ace said, “That’s basically a whole lot of music that we’ve been recording. We’re just gonna do it for the internet - free download. Following that is the street album, which is crazy.”

The forthcoming street album in question, “Real Talk”, is promised to be “what the game’s been missing.” Ace said, “Basically, we’re giving you us. We’re giving you what we go through, we’re giving you what everyone else might go through. We’re actually talking about something. We’re actually having fun with the music. We’re doing different things, and just trying to showcase the West. We want to show people what West Coast life is really like.”

Aside from the mixtape and street album, K-Boy and Ace are also working on solo projects. K-Boy is putting together “The Green Mixtape”, which aims to bring West Coast unity to a higher level. “I’m trying not to glorify gangbanging in a negative way. Crips and Bloods can get along, we can do music and get money together, and we can be real friends. I reached out to [artists like] Jay Rock, Lil Bam, 211, Roccett, and Big Wy [for the project]. It’s gonna be a hell of a tape. What I wanted to do is put everybody together and let them know that we’re really pushing the ‘blue and red make green’ out here.”

Meanwhile, Ace has been working on the “Get It Gang” street album with Taje. “That tape right there is something serious. Taje reached out to a n*gga because he seen a n*gga grindin’. He seen what me and K-Boy were doing.” The group also has nothing but respect for LNS’s Dae One. “Shouts out to Dae One. Dae One was actually the first producer to really f*ck with us on a heavy level and provide us with a sound that only fits The Bloc Boyz. When we get into the studio with Dae One, it’s like magic,” says K-Boy.

With a full-lineup of street offerings this year, The Bloc Boyz are making it their mission to be heard. On top of the new music, the Boyz have established their own company, Hustle Money Ent., as well. The group is confident about their position in the game, and envisions major plans for themselves in the future. “[Other artists] hear the music and realize that we’re real n*ggas. Everybody’s f*ckin’ with us.”

We’ve got a new track from “Reality Check” for you to listen to today. The banger is called “I’m Hood”, and it’s not one that you’ll want to pass up. Download it below.

The Bloc Boyz – I’m Hood [Produced by Chris Judge]

Make sure to check out The Bloc Boyz on Myspace, and be on the look out for “Reality Check” to drop on Dubcnn for free download in the next few weeks. The group wants to give a big shout out to Andino, the studio they record at, as well!

news 1210432070 - January 1, 1970 By : Due to the overwhelming feedback to last week's Weekend Audio update, we decided to try and make this a weekly feature. We got a nice blend of new music this time around, mostly collaboration tracks, from some straight Hip-Hop sh-t to some gangsta sh-t.

The first one I want to give ya'll is a Butch Cassidy track, which appeared on Pr1me's "Transformers" mixtape. We have the untagged version for ya'll, courtesy of the producer of track Dae One. It's called "Now Here We Are", Butch Cassidy featuring Pr1me and Taje, West Coast as smooth as it gets:

Butch Cassidy -
Now Here We Are (ft. Pr1me & Taje) (Prod. by Dae One)

Next up is a coast to coast collaboration. Los Angeles Hip-Hop veterans Styles Of Beyond, who are currently working on their new album "Reseda Beach" which is set to drop this summer, have collaborated with the Wu Tang Clan's own RZA aka Bobby Digital. The result of the pairing is a track called "Don't Feel Bad", which I'm urging all of you to check out by clicking below:

Styles Of Beyond - Don't Feel Bad (ft. RZA)

We'll keep you up to date on Styles Of Beyond's "Reseda Beach" album.

Let's get to another coast to coast collaboration. Capone-N-Noreage have released a remix to their track "My Hood", which originally only featured The Clipse. They reached out to Daz Dillinger and Kurupt from the West Coast, as well as Uncle Murda and Maino from the East to assist them on this remix. The untagged version is here, grab it below:

C-N-N - My Hood (Remix) (ft. Dogg Pound, Clipse, Uncle Murda & Maino)

Next up is a joint off Bay Area rapper Errevelent's album "The Redefinition". We've been dropping tracks from his album for the past few months, and if you're not convinced enough to pick up his album yet, this track right here should change your mind. Errelevent linked up with one of the most talented up and coming rappers, the Primo co-signed Termanology. They knocked out a track called "The Formula", which you can download below:

Errelevent - The Formula (ft. Termanology)

Last week, we brought you a new Krondon solo track, along with a new Strong Arm Steady freestyle called "Tha Gang". We've recieved another new Strong Arm Steady track this week, this time it's a collaboration with Spliff Star called "Drugs & Money".

This is for those of you who like that drug talk, check it out below:

Strong Arm Steady - Drugs & Money (ft. Spliff Star)

And last but not least, we have a track by a new female singer that Daz Dillinger has been working with. She goes by the name of Melody Mona Lisa, and we have recieved her single "N Ur Bed", which features Daz himself on a verse. This is a cool feel good summer track, nothing that's going to change your life but definitely worth a couple spins, Daz comes off on his verse. Check it out below:

Melody Mona Lisa - N Ur Bed (ft. Daz Dillinger)

Enjoy this week's Weekend Audio, and check back with us next week for some more exclusives!

news 1212999344 - January 1, 1970 By : We're back with more information today on the now-infamous Bishop Lamont & DJ Strong situation. For those that don't know, DJ Strong allegedly was the one behind the leak of Bishop's latest street album "The Confessional" last weekend. We've just been sent a video that shows Bishop Lamont & Taje confronting Strong in person, and other footage of Bishop & DJ Warrior discussing the situation.

Bishop Lamont Confronts DJ Strong [Video]

Next, we have a statement just released by DJ Warrior, who is a former business partner of Strong's.

"Brian Bradshaw [DJ Strong] was a business partner of mine until March 2007. He has stolen money from the company, and also hasn't paid back owed money. He gave my brand, Hip-Hop West, a bad name, after I put this guy in the game. He's been illegally using the Hip-Hop West name to make money for a while...and bootlegging mine and other DJs' CDs such as DJ Vlad, from back in the day.

I was told by other dudes that he has a bad attitude and steals from people. It was becoming too crazy, to where I didn't want him to hurt the Cali Untouchables brand. DJ Strong is not a part of the Cali Untouchable DJs, and/or associated with the Cali Untouchables brand, period. He's a total crazy guy who has no love for hip hop, or the music industry. He just wants make money, he don't stand for nothing, and he's always biting other people.

There's so many people out there that don't want to deal with him or do business with him. He sells the Bishop Lamont Unauthorized CD, puts his name on it after he was told not to, and sells the master to over 10 bootleggers for few hundred dollars each. The New West has banned this guy from hip-hop.

Earlier this year, this guy wanted to be a cop because all the financial problems and some of the back pay he had paid me, after I found out he was stealing money from the company. This guy is worse than Empire, who illegally put the Lil Wayne CD out. This guy is a disgrace to hip hop. This is another major reason why hip-hop is hurting a little."

We'll keep you updated as always with the latest developments.

news 1225309485 - January 1, 1970 By : A native of Santa Monica and West Los Angeles, Indef (short for Indefinite) is a name that has been featured on Dubcnn but always attached to another person or release.

Today this unconventional MC is on Dubcnn to show of his witty, off-kilter, and socially conscious lyrics on his own two feet and is determined to grab the attention of today's hip-hop listener in a time where punch lines and relevant content have fallen by the wayside in favor of catchy hooks and dance moves.

The oldest of six growing up in a single home, Indef has remained very close to his family to this day, promptly citing them as his biggest influence. He has a positive outlook on growing up in the struggle as a young black male, saying, "It's enabled me to earn a degree from the School of Hard Knocks!"

Indef has gained attention from his appearences on J Dilla's "Dirty Instinct Exit 3," the "Tupac Assassination Soundtrack" and the Bishop Lamont projects Pope Mobile, N*gger Noize, The Confessional and Caltriot.

He is now gearing up to release his debut solo project "The Product" - hosted by Bishop Lamont and presented by Aftermath Records & Diocese Records, the 19-track-set features all original music with guest appearances from Butch Cassidy, Bishop Lamont, Taje, Noni Spitz, Mike Ant, & Young De as well as production from Focus, DJ Khalil, Black Milk, Dae One, Thayod, & "Jedi" Jared Moore. With "The Product" coming sooner than you think - Halloween to be exact - we have three tracks from the project to premiere. First up is "Ryda" featuring Noni Spitz and produced by JRK

Indef - Ryda (Feat. Noni Spitz) (Prod By JRK)

Next up we have "The Howling" featuring the host and his mentor Bishop Lamont as well as Bokie Loc. production on this comes from Oh No
