news 1085557333 - January 1, 1970 By : Message from Nima & Yash:

What's happening ya'll? We want to appologize for the lack of updates and interviews in the recent weeks on the site. The reason is that we've both been incredibly busy working on the new projects for the websites, ya'll are gonna be blown away, just watch. First off, our dubcnn online store will be online next week, the homie Yash has been working on that, having meetings with the bank directors and such. So the Online Store is a done deal, you're gonna be able to cop all the CD's you can't get in your local stores, underground stuff, rare stuff, and of course, exclusive stuff. This will especially be a good opportunity for the numerous overseas visitors, as they won't be paying more for shipping than US users or anyone else.

But hold up, that's not it. Of course, we're gonna be going back to our daily news updates, exclusive audio, and our infamous interviews in near future. I know I've been lacking lately, that has been due to me finishing my studies in June, so I've been incredibly busy studying for the final exams, it's all gonna be done early June though. So your boy is gonna be back pumping out interview after interview real soon! In the meanwhile, Yash has completed a grip of interviews, and I have some waiting to go up too. Here is a little list of the interviews that should go live in the coming weeks:

Domino
Krayzie Bone
C-Bo
Shade Sheist
Damizza
Michelob
Dilated Peoples
Butch Cassidy
Caz
The Relativez
40 Glocc
Battlecat
Big Moz

and many more to come.

So shit is about to go down in a major way, so stay true to us right here at dubcnn.com, your West Coast News Network, we ain't going no where, we comin' back harder than ever!

And ya'll know about the highly anticipated West Coast Unified Vol. 1 CD we're dropping, to read all about that check the next update, or if its already up when you read this, the update above. Oh boy!!!!

news 1101173904 - January 1, 1970 By : A week and half ago, DubCNN was in full effect at the Sony offices for the Xzibit "Weapons Of Mass Destruction" listening party. I was gonna put up a review of what I thought of the album, but was shocked to see that it had already been leaked to the net. I didn't feel the need to let everyone know the scoop on the album, since most probably already heard it by then. But, with a little persuasive talks, thanks to Yash, I'll drop a tiny review. In the house that night was Super Producer Bosko, Latin Fros, Damizza and a few others. Sony were great hosts. They had an open bar the whole night, along with free Valet Parking, which I'm not used to, at all. So big ups to them for that, I for one appreciated it.

As for the album, it knocked, seriously. This is a major step up from Restless and Man Vs. Machine, both of which I disliked. The production was NICE on this album, very fitting for X. The features were crazy, Steady Gang on a track with Suga Free? WOW! Everyone held their own. For me, it was nice to hear Phil Da Agony and Krondon finally get the recognition they deserve. I felt X really got his bars up this go around. Since he's rollin' with SAS, it seems his mind is back in the right place. Make sure you cop this album. And here's some pics.

news 1107859155 - January 1, 1970 By : That's right The Relativez album dropped today and I gotto say it's just as tight as their last album if not better.
This album is basically their most solid album to date with guest appearances from Kokane, Dave Hollister, Butch Cassidy, Mitchy Slick and more.
As for the production... if you were expecting the same funky westcoast beats that we are used to hearing on Relativez albums you won't be disappointed.

Here's 2 tracks from the album called "Money Respect Money":
The Relativez
"Run These Streetz" featuring Dave Hollister
The Relativez "Pimpin" featuring Too Short

Make sure you go out and support Dogg & Big Why this week by coppin The Relativez album.

news 1162151058 - January 1, 1970 By : It's been a long time since we last heard from hook master and R&B crooner Butch Cassidy, who blessed many tracks with his smooth voice in the past couple of years. But whenever we did hear from Butch, he was somewhere around Baby Ree's Damizza.

After years of collaborations, they have decided to come together for a duet project called "Back B4 You're Lonely", which is set to be released January 30th 2007 through Baby Ree/Universal/Fontana.

"It's been a long time coming, and we're back.", Damizza says. "Time to put some records out. Butch & I just have a sick chemistry when we get in the studio, we just tend to knock out hits." Butch & Damizza have already enjoyed success together, including the track "On 2's" which appeared on EA Sports NBA Live Video game. "It's a privilege to be able to listen to our music while I'm kicking Damizza's ass at NBA Live", Butch says.

Expect to hear the Gangsta Blues with a Twist of Street-Jazz that Butch is known to bring; combine that with Damizza's smoke- filled, hypnotizing, G-Crunk beats and you know it's gona be a hit.

We'll keep you updated on everything concerning this project, so keep it locked right here.

The track , entitled "Got Me Goin'" features an interpolation of the classic Kinks record from 1964 of the same name. The record quickly generated a buzz amongst fans and ensured that "Digital Smoke" was added to many "Most Anticipated In 2007" lists.

We last updated you on the project last month [see; J. Wells Signs Distribution Deal With Fontana] where we discussed a new distribution deal with Fontana for his own Bonzi Records. news 1171627243 - January 1, 1970 By : Two of the busiest men in music have recently taken time out of their hectic schedules to combine and form an organistation to help aspiring artists get heard, get constructive cristicism and ultimately - get deals!

Damizza, who is hard at work on the upcoming collaboration album "Back B4 Ur Lonely" with Butch Cassidy, and Bishop Lamont, Aftermath Records' signee and Dr. Dre protégé who is currently finalising two mixtapes and his debut album "The Reformation" - are asking you to "Let Me Hear It"

That's right, Damizza and Bishop Lamont want to hear your music and be able to give you the time and energy you deserve on getting your music heard, critiqued and all importantly get the feedback direct from them.

The concept behind this move, which can be seen at
Let Me Hear It Music, is the result of the pair being inundated with demos and requests that they can't always deal with; this new venture will ensure they can get through material that people really want them to hear and then take the time to listen and evaluate the music properly.

The pair will endevour to listen to all the material submitted, when they cannot then the studio teams, the Mad Scientists, will evaluate the music and then let the pair know what's hot and what's not! Bishop Lamont and Damizza have recorded a video on the new Let Me Hear It Music website to explain it all in detail however we think this quote sums it up; "Don't make it if you can't take it! What i mean by that is make sure you can take criticism, cause i'm gonna be cold than a muthaf-cka like Dre is on me."

Aspiring artists, do not miss out on this opportunity to sumbit your material, this is your chance to be heard and prove your worth - the first 150-200 material submissions will get video responses of Bishop Lamont and/or Damizza critiquing your record, live and direct!

In related news it appears that "Who I Gotta Kill To Get A Record Deal" Volumes II and III are in the works and are set to be industry samplers - that means that at Bishop's discretion yout hot material could make its way onto the same mixtape series that got into Dr. Dre's hand to sign Bishop Lamont to Aftermath - don't miss your chance head over to Let Me Hear It Music.com right now and submit your material for only $19.99

Joe Pesci (who was on hand to introduce the group), Ben Harper, Butch Cassidy, Bishop Lamont, Vanessa Marquez and a slue of industry insiders that made the Night a total success.

The new album, due June 5th, is the rising producer's long awaited follow up to the underground classic "Digital Master." In this review we decide whether the pairing of J Wells and Kurupt is a success and why you should pick up the album next month.

"Digital Smoke" receives the Dub Quotable: "Digital Smoke is a great effort with some stellar production from Wells. news 1181070238 - January 1, 1970 By : All of you who have been visiting dubcnn for a few years will remember Down aka Kilo, the mexican rapper we had interviewed in 2003 for the release of his solo album "California Cowboys", which featured the West Coast's finest on it, as well as top notch beats, even though Down was not exactly the best rapper out there. The CD caused a lot of eyebrows to raise, and the homie Frank Nitty put me up on game as far as the support Down gets from his people in Mexico. Nitty, Bad Azz and others helped Down connect with the who's who on the West Coast and put together his "California Cowboys" release from 2003.

Four years later, Down is back with his new album "Definition Of An Ese". The first single "Lean Like A Cholo" has been getting a lot of airplay and building up a buzz. But don't let the poppy and watered down sound of the first single fool, Down has got some surprises on the album.

He's got a banger on there with Nate Dogg called "I'm Coming Home To You", as well as the title track to his album "Definition Of An Ese". You can download the single "Lean Like A Cholo", as well as the two songs I just mentioned below:

Down aka Kilo - Lean Like A Cholo
Down aka Kilo - I'm Coming Home To U (ft. Nate Dogg)
Down aka Kilo - Definition Of An Ese

Other features include Snoop Dogg, B-Real, Butch Cassidy, Niki Diaz, Diamonique, Fingazz and more. To order the album now, click here.

news 1188143473 - January 1, 1970 By : We have the official press release about Damizza's upcoming "Unreleased Tracks" project, where he is going to be putting out tracks that never came out over the years. Check out the official article below:

"Christmas is going to come early for West Coast hip-hop fans, as multi-platinum producer Damizza has agreed to open his vast unmatched vault of more than 500 unreleased songs spanning the past two decades and release previously unheard tracks featuring stars as diverse as Krayzie Bone, Nate Dogg, Mariah Carey and more.

"I've had everybody come through the studio from ˜Spiderman" Toby Maguire to Ludacris so what better way celebrate my 20-year love affair with music than by releasing songs by some of the greatest stars of our time?" Damizza says. The producer explains that, until now, he's been so busy working on new material with Butch Cassidy and emerging artists signed to his Baby Ree label that he simply hasn't had time to sift through the hundreds of unreleased works.

"There are volumes of new songs in there," he says, "as well as demo recordings & new material from Jennifer Love-Hewett, Roccett, Macy Gray, Ray J & Nate Dogg, it's really amazing. I surprised myself at the quantity and quality of music. We've just been producing so much material that gems just end up being forgotten. It's an amazing body of work and I feel it needs to be out there for fans."

"Damizza Presents: Unreleased Volume 1" will be in stores through Baby Ree and distributed through Fontana/Universal on November 31st.

That will be followed in early 2008 by two addition volumes from Damizza's vault which the producer hints may include rare works from Bone Thuggs N Harmony, Mariah Carey, Ice Cube, Bishop Lamont, Ja Rule, Knoc-Turn'al, Fat Joe and many more chart-topping artists.

"There's just no reason for good music to just sit," Damizza says of his incredible catalogue.

news 1203801443 - January 1, 1970 By : Last week, we joined PR1ME on an expedition to the Magic Convention in Las Vegas. PR1ME's debut street album "The Transformation" was just completed, so it was time for everyone to get to work and spread copies around like crazy. As always, we brought our camera to document the trip. Our goal was to capture on film exactly what it takes for an up-and-coming artist to get his name out there and catch the attention of the right people.

The mission was a success for PR1ME and TakeOff Productions, with over 5,000 copies of "The Transformation" being distributed.

Along the way, we had a lot of fun as well. Look out for guest appearances from artists that we ran into during the convention like Bun-B, Young Jeezy, Pusha T of The Clipse, Mos Def, Taje, September 7th, Bad Lucc, and Damani.

This video is one of the tightest we've ever had on Dubcnn! It's an absolute must-watch for anyone interested in how an individual makes "The Transformation" from an ambitious new MC to a future star. PR1ME did it, and you can too. Check out the video below!

news 1208472486 - January 1, 1970 By : Today's review takes to task a current fan favorite. Since its recent release, Westurn Union's mixtape House Shoe Musik Vol. 1 has been receiving nothing but praise from listeners. Now, it's our turn to weigh in with our official verdict on this offering from the talented trio of Damani, Soopafly, and Bad Lucc.

"House Shoe Musik" receives the Dub Quotable: "Both a celebration of hometown pride and a middle finger to those that oppose their stance, Westurn Union have delivered a fine introduction to their movement. Damani, Soopafly, and Bad Lucc are clearly on to something that does the term justice." and earns an admirable Dub Rating.

news 1210432070 - January 1, 1970 By : Due to the overwhelming feedback to last week's Weekend Audio update, we decided to try and make this a weekly feature. We got a nice blend of new music this time around, mostly collaboration tracks, from some straight Hip-Hop sh-t to some gangsta sh-t.

The first one I want to give ya'll is a Butch Cassidy track, which appeared on Pr1me's "Transformers" mixtape. We have the untagged version for ya'll, courtesy of the producer of track Dae One. It's called "Now Here We Are", Butch Cassidy featuring Pr1me and Taje, West Coast as smooth as it gets:

Butch Cassidy -
Now Here We Are (ft. Pr1me & Taje) (Prod. by Dae One)

Next up is a coast to coast collaboration. Los Angeles Hip-Hop veterans Styles Of Beyond, who are currently working on their new album "Reseda Beach" which is set to drop this summer, have collaborated with the Wu Tang Clan's own RZA aka Bobby Digital. The result of the pairing is a track called "Don't Feel Bad", which I'm urging all of you to check out by clicking below:

Styles Of Beyond - Don't Feel Bad (ft. RZA)

We'll keep you up to date on Styles Of Beyond's "Reseda Beach" album.

Let's get to another coast to coast collaboration. Capone-N-Noreage have released a remix to their track "My Hood", which originally only featured The Clipse. They reached out to Daz Dillinger and Kurupt from the West Coast, as well as Uncle Murda and Maino from the East to assist them on this remix. The untagged version is here, grab it below:

C-N-N - My Hood (Remix) (ft. Dogg Pound, Clipse, Uncle Murda & Maino)

Next up is a joint off Bay Area rapper Errevelent's album "The Redefinition". We've been dropping tracks from his album for the past few months, and if you're not convinced enough to pick up his album yet, this track right here should change your mind. Errelevent linked up with one of the most talented up and coming rappers, the Primo co-signed Termanology. They knocked out a track called "The Formula", which you can download below:

Errelevent - The Formula (ft. Termanology)

Last week, we brought you a new Krondon solo track, along with a new Strong Arm Steady freestyle called "Tha Gang". We've recieved another new Strong Arm Steady track this week, this time it's a collaboration with Spliff Star called "Drugs & Money".

This is for those of you who like that drug talk, check it out below:

Strong Arm Steady - Drugs & Money (ft. Spliff Star)

And last but not least, we have a track by a new female singer that Daz Dillinger has been working with. She goes by the name of Melody Mona Lisa, and we have recieved her single "N Ur Bed", which features Daz himself on a verse. This is a cool feel good summer track, nothing that's going to change your life but definitely worth a couple spins, Daz comes off on his verse. Check it out below:

Melody Mona Lisa - N Ur Bed (ft. Daz Dillinger)

Enjoy this week's Weekend Audio, and check back with us next week for some more exclusives!

He’s one of the cats that I see carrying the torch for West Coast music in the years to come.”

The first experiment to be unleashed from Einzteinz Laboratory is the debut album from singer and multi-talented performer Adrenaline. The young artist is currently on tour, doing spot dates with Shwayze, Baby Bash, & Tyga.

“Adrenaline is a monster performer. He steals the show wherever he goes,” says Einztein. “His album is almost done and we’ll be ready to release it in the first quarter of 2009.”

With the new label in the works, and a new mixtape project called “Skull-N-Bonez” featuring appearances from Fingazz, Damizza, Bigg Steele, & Dirty Birdy coming soon, Einztein has no plans for slowing down.

“I was just at Area 51 Studios with Bishop Lamont, Butch Cassidy, Dae One, Noni Spitz and a lot of New West cats, watching how they all get down together. It’s a great vibe and I’m just excited to work with as many talented people as I can.”

Einztein will be performing live with Fingazz on October 22nd at the Temple Bar in Santa Monica, CA. “Playing live drums as part of Fingazz’s band is an amazing experience. I appreciate his musical talent, and it will be a great night in music history.”

news 1225309485 - January 1, 1970 By : A native of Santa Monica and West Los Angeles, Indef (short for Indefinite) is a name that has been featured on Dubcnn but always attached to another person or release.

Today this unconventional MC is on Dubcnn to show of his witty, off-kilter, and socially conscious lyrics on his own two feet and is determined to grab the attention of today's hip-hop listener in a time where punch lines and relevant content have fallen by the wayside in favor of catchy hooks and dance moves.

The oldest of six growing up in a single home, Indef has remained very close to his family to this day, promptly citing them as his biggest influence. He has a positive outlook on growing up in the struggle as a young black male, saying, "It's enabled me to earn a degree from the School of Hard Knocks!"

Indef has gained attention from his appearences on J Dilla's "Dirty Instinct Exit 3," the "Tupac Assassination Soundtrack" and the Bishop Lamont projects Pope Mobile, N*gger Noize, The Confessional and Caltriot.

news 1119610349 - January 1, 1970 By : YinSumi Press, the world’s first publishing house dedicated to documenting the social and political trends in the Hip Hop sub culture, is proud to announce that author Adisa Banjoko, DJ Mike Relm and Balance will release a powerful CD to accompany the release of “Lyrical Swords Vol. 2: Westside Rebellion”. The book and CD will drop Oct., 1st 2005 on YinSumi Press. To download a sample MP3 of Adisa Banjoko’s Harvard lecture on “Islam, Hip Hop and Black America” featuring Balance w/ various beats and blends by DJ Relm: LISTEN HERE!!
“Lyrical Swords Vol. 2: Westside Rebellion” looks at the difference in philosophy and strategy between Hip Hop on the east coast and west coast. “People forget that the west coast is the home of the Black Panthers and the Brown Beret’s. When the courts fail to serve justice to the people out west, we riot. That’s why Tupac said ‘Only in Cali do we riot not rally, so live and die’. From Ice Cube to Tupac, Paris and Kam, we have a ton of strong conscious rappers. But the standard myth is that the only conscious rappers come from the east. No doubt our east coast brothers set the standard. But like everything else in Hip Hop, we have our own unique way of being politically active.”

Additional tracks from Balance and San Jose’s Jay the Butcher and Shamako Noble be featured on the CD for “Lyrical Swords Vol. 2: Westside Rebellion”.

“In truth, the CD is a tribute to Keith LeBlanc’s “No Sell Out” from back in 1983. It’s a tribute to Malcolm X and LeBlanc. When we tell you that you have not heard anything like this before, we mean it. The artistry by which Relm rocked the blends of my lecture with Hip Hop is beyond amazing. To be on the same team as Balance on a mixtape is just an honor in itself. When it comes to ‘Lyrical Swords Volume 2: Westside Rebellion’, people can either be down now, or bow down later. But the rebellion is on!!” said Banjoko.

In addition the book “Lyrical Swords Vol. 2: Westside Rebellion” will feature previously unreleased interviews from the late 80’s and early 90’s with artists such as Master P, Mac Mall, Run D.M.C. and Jam Master Jay, Luniz, Paris, Young Black Teenagers, Slick Rick, Tragedy Khadafi, Spice One, Gangstarr, and many others.
Other dynamic social and political commentary on issues facing today’s youth will also be included. A sample MP3 of DJ Mike Relm’s mix can be heard right now at www.netweed.com/lyricalswords!!

news 1155077323 - January 1, 1970 By : Buccweet has been holding down the 818 for the longest. People first heard of him back in 2003 on various DJ mixtapes and later on his own "Fix Ya Face" Vol. 1 & 2 mixtapes, as well as here on Dubcnn.

His biggest hit to date is the Remix of "Cali Girls" featuring his Wolfpac family J-Ro & Styliztik, DPG's Kurupt & Roscoe, and Tha Real Cassidy. This year, he followed up with his last single "I Like It" featuring Mariah Carey, which we premiered here on Dubcnn.

Buccweet is back with yet another street single before he finally drops the album next year. This one is called "West Coast" and is a dedication to the left coast, and he's giving it up to a lot of artists doing it for the West. The song is taken from his upcoming album "Ask About Me" due out in the 1st quarter of 2007. The album will be released on a major which will be announced soon. Not only does he rap on there, but he also produced the album himself (with a couple exceptions).

news 1200428803 - January 1, 1970 By : DJ Nik Bean has just issued a huge press release regarding his latest projects. We're going to drop the whole thing for you to read today, so check it out below, and don't forget to visit DJ Nik Bean on Myspace!

"Renowned Los Angeles-based DJ Nik Bean has announced plans today to release a new mixtape project every week during the months of January, February, and March. This is exciting news for fans of California hip-hop, who have quickly come to recognize Nik’s mixtapes as a street-savvy source of quality music. While Nik has created compilations for West Coast legends like Ice Cube, Tha Dogg Pound, and Jayo Felony, he is most well-known for his ability to highlight the best in new artists, as evidenced by his projects with emerging superstars Hot Dollar and Glasses Malone.

Nik, known in the streets as “The Mixtape Hustler,” will be on the grind more than ever with this three-month long mixtape extravaganza. A highlight from the set is “Streetz Of L.A. Volume 4,” the latest installment in Nik’s highly successful West Coast mixtape series. For this fourth edition, Nik has teamed up with L.A. radio heavyweight Felli Fel and Atlanta’s mixtape champion DJ Drama to create what will assuredly be one of the biggest mixtape releases of the year. The involvement from Drama and Felli Fel, the latter of which recently signed with Atlanta-based So So Def Records, will combine with Nik’s California-bred mentality to make the project a cross-country success in more ways than one.

Nik and Felli Fel have teamed up to release four other projects together during this blitz. A Valentine’s Day release with lyrical firestarter Crooked I entitled “The St. Valentine’s Bossacre” will hit the streets as a surprise gift. The project will feature a variety of new and previously unreleased material. Mixtapes with G-Unit’s Spider Loc, renowned writer Problem, and Aftermath-signee Stat Quo will also come from the newly formed powerhouse team. DJ Felli Fel’s debut project “Go DJ” is set for an early 2008 release. A video for the nationwide hit single from the album, “Get Buck In Here,” will be released next week. You can purchase “Get Buck In Here” from iTunes by clicking here.

Nik has many more projects to put out. Solo mixtapes include “Sonically Correct” with Watts star Bangloose, Sillk Calone’s “By Way Of South Central,” and releases from Roscoe Umali and Yung Berg. Nik has also teamed up with Atlanta’s DJ Scream and “The Butcher” DJ Vlad for a mixtape with 2Five titled “Talk Is Cheap, I Plead The 5th.” The Bay Area will be excited when Nik drops Balance’s “Unsigned Legend” alongside the highly-respected DJ Rah2K as well.

With over ten mixtapes ready for release, Nik is giving the public many more reasons to call him “L.A.’s Mixtape King.” However, it won’t be long before the “Mixtape Hustler” steps into the retail album world. Nik has officially started to record material for his full-length debut album, tentatively titled “The Hustler’s Manual.” The project will feature an all-star lineup of West Coast acts and some very special surprise guests from other regions as well. Fans can be on the look out for the album in stores later this year.

Nik is also starting “Streetz Of L.A. Radio,” his weekly radio offering. The first episode will air on Sirius Satellite Radio’s Shade 45 channel in the beginning of February. In addition to all of these music projects, Nik is also putting together a new DVD magazine that will be released four times annually. “Street Certified” promises to give viewers a look at the inner-workings of the hip-hop world. Artists like Crooked I, Rick Ross, Mistah F.A.B., and Glasses Malone have already contributed to the first issue, which will arrive in stores next month.

DJ Nik Bean is starting 2008 off with a loud bang on the West Coast that will be heard across the nation. The three-month long mixtape blitz will simply solidify his spot as one of the hardest-working, and most prominent, mixtape DJs in the game."

news 1215986361 - January 1, 1970 By : The weekend is almost over, which means we're right on time for another edition of dubcnn's Weekend Audio, for the 11th time to be exact. We've plenty of hot new music, ranging from Akil of Jurassic 5, a Snoop Dogg collabo with a hot new R&B singer from the West, to producer Statik Selektah's new single and something from TJ Santana of the Young Hoggs, while going up to the Bay for a dose of Esinchill.

Let's get things going with somebody you haven't heard from in a long time, but Death Row Records fans will remember like it was yesterday: Swoop G.

Swoop G hit the scene with the Dogg Pound in the mid to late 90's and was supposed to be part of the second generation of Death Row artists to make it to the top. For obvious reasons, it did not happen and it seemed like Young Swoop had dissapeared for good. He's got a new single called "My Chuck Taylors" which features Glasses Malone and Kokane, as well as a new project coming soon, titled "C-Walkin' On The Moon". Check out "My Chuck Taylors" below:

Swoop G -
My Chuck Taylors (ft. G. Malone & Kokane)

Let's switch over the R&B side of things for a minute. I want to introduce you to a young up and coming West Coast singer by the name of J. Blue, who recently inked a deal with Universal Motown. He's currently wrapping up his album "The Blue Book: From the Block to the Bed" and has landed a Snoop Dogg feature on his first single, "Hey". The club banger is sure to get the ladies going and promises a bright future for J. Blue. I was reminded of Chris Brown a bit when I first heard him, judge for yourself by checking out "Hey" below:

J. Blue - Hey (ft. Snoop Dogg)

Next up is something new from West Coast veteran Akil The MC, formerly of Jurassic 5. Akil has been quiet for a while, as he's been mapping out and putting together a big project that he likes to call Unified Los Angeles Skill District. The Unified Skill District consists of MC's, producers, beat makers, B-Boys/Girls, film, radio, graphic designers and all forms of entertainment business. He will be releasing a first CD with some of the talented MC's that he picked out for the project and we have a 8-minute track available with snippets of some of the tracks on there. Check it out below:

Akil - Unified Skill District (Snippets)

Let's go up to to the Bay Area real quick, to Oakland to be exact. You might remember Esinchill as an extended member of Digital Underground. He appeared on the "Who Got the Gravy?" album and later on released a slept on solo project. To me, he represents a side of the Bay Area that is often overlooked, a more conscious, deep side, far away from the Sydeshows and Hyphy crowds that the Bay is often stereotyped by. He's got a provocative track called "N-gga, B-tch, H-e" on which he talks about the effect those words cause, off his upcoming album coming later this year. Check it out below:

Esinchill - N-gga, B-tch, H-e

We gotta head out to the East Coast for the next track, and it's well worth it! Massachusetts producer/DJ Statik Selektah is getting ready to release the follow up to his debut album "Spell My Name Right" in September, titled "Stick 2 The Script". He once again has an insane lineup on the album and the first single sets the tone for the record. I'm talking about the title track, "To The Top (Stick 2 The Script)", for which Statik reached out to his main man Termanology, as well as Cassidy and Saigon. The result is lyrical slaughter, witness is below:

Statik Selektah - To The Top (Stick 2 The Script) (ft. Termanolgy, Saigon & Cassidy)

Last but not least is a new joint by Compton's own TJ Santana from the Young Hoggs. He's got a very creative new track called "Directions", throughout which he gives a female directions from the IE (Inland Empire) to Magic Johnson's Fridays in Inglewood, all in rap form. He reached out to fellow Young Hogg Killa Cane to jump on the track with him, which is set to appear on TJ's solo project "Therapy (The Truth Shall Set Me Free)" coming later on this year. Check out Directions" below:

TJ Santana - Directions (ft. Killa Cane)

We're done! Check back next week for more "Weekend Audio"!
