Diego Redd Gives It Up For "California Girls" - July 30, 2006 By : Rud

We have been in full effect for weeks now dropping exclusive after exclusive well rest assured, we're not letting up - we have a few weeks packed with a strong mix of legends and the freshest westcoast artists and music.
Today we are proud to present the first single from Diego Redd which will be on his new mixtape; "Getting Money, Getting Paid" which, thanks to dubcnn's help is being put together and released by the prolific westcoast DJ, DJ Warrior who has produced mixtapes for Ice Cube, The Game and countless others.
Since we introduced Diego Redd to our readers earlier this year with an On The Come Up feature as well as an Exclusive Interview we have received an influx of interest and support for the 25 year old MC. "California Girls" is the single that aims to generate even more of a buzz than when Kanye West said that he was; "One of the hottest out of the west or all over the United States."
Since we last heard from Diego Redd he has been buzz building across the country with appearences and meetings from NY to Cali where people have been agreeing that this artist has the talent to be a major force from the west - the plan with the single is to ensure every kid with an ipod and every hustler with a banging system in his ride is saying it too. With "California Girls" Diego Redd has created an anthem thats sure to make heads knock fro LA, through Fresno and over to the Bay. From there it ain't a thing for the rest of the country to catch on to "California Girls." The track which is an ode to the women of the Golden State, could be seen as cross between the classic "California Love" and "Area Codes" - in that its repping the place where you stay and the girls you meet along the way. Pairing Diego's undeniable mic prescense and charisma with a bouncy Gutta Fam beat that has a Dr. Dre feel to it "California Love" will have women throughout the state shouting out their cities while in the club.
Diego Redd - California Girls
Diego Redd is currently wrapping up the "Getting Money, Getting Paid" mixtape as well as his as yet untitled album. His nationwide exploits have landed him recording with som big names in NY and LA, as well as working with platinum producer Needlz (50 Cent, Ludacris). Major label offers are on the table once again for the talented youngster and a national tour could be on the way. Stay tuned to dubcnn.com for the latestDiscuss This Topic

Crooked I Wants You To "Respect Your OG's + Interview - July 30, 2006 By : Nima

In Part 2 of our exclusive interview with Snoop Dogg, Tha Doggfather had some harsh word for Crooked I, which as a lot of people on the forums talking right now. Dynasty Ent. reached out to dubcnn wanting to let Crooked I speak his side of the story, so we hooked up with Crooked to conduct an interview and knocked it out.
Although it's pretty long we're gonna try to get it on here as soon as possible for people to read. Until then, Crooked I hooked dubcnn up with an exclusive track he recorded called "Respect Your OG's". It was originally planned for Crooked's next mixtape, but he decided to let us leak it right now:
Crooked I - Respect Your OG's (Prod. by Jim Gettum)
Jim Gettum laid down one of his hottest beats ever, and Crooked I pays homage to those who came before him. This is a real West Coast anthem, and Crooked also gives it up to Snoop Dogg & Tha Dogg Pound.
Just to let ya'll know before the interview goes up, Crooked I is not trying to be on some beef shit with Snoop Dogg, he actually hopes to be able to put this shit to the side and do business with him. But he's a man, and he wanted to take his stand and let the fans know how he feels about what Snoop had to say.
Bang that track for now, download it, spread it, do whatever you gotta do with it!Discuss This Topic

Snoop Dogg & Dubcnn - The Interview: Part 2 - July 29, 2006 By : Nima

We're back with Part 2 of our exclusive four-part interview with Snoop Dogg. Part 1 recieved tremendous feedback, as this is probably one of the most honest and in-depth interviews we've seen with Tha Doggfather. Incase you missed Part 1, click on the picture at the top of the site to check it out now!
Listen or read Part 2 of our exclusive Snoop Dogg interview below:
Snoop Dogg & Dubcnn - The Interview: Part 2
In Part 2, we start off with the question about the Western Conference, and Snoop speaks on the beef between The Game and Spider Loc. He really expands on the subject of West Coast unity and why it's so important right now.
We also talk about the unity he's trying to create between the Black & the Brown, because you can't bring the West Coast back if you don't involve the Crips, the Bloods and the Ese's, as he says. He also speaks on his song "My Peoples, and why he shouted out all those people, even if he didn't know them.
The part that's probably gonna get most people talking is when he speaks on Crooked I. We also speak about Bad Lucc, who's been shining on the Western Union tracks, as well as the Warzone group, and what he thinks of people saying MC Eiht is washed up.
Be on the lookout for Part 3 coming next Tuesday or Wednesday, where we go in detail about The Game, "Blue Carpet Treatment", how it feels to be back in the hood, and most importantly and probably the most controversial part of the whole interview, we speak about Dr. Dre and "Detox".

It's been a minute since we last heard from Bad Azz & The Low Lifes. Coco Loco of the Low Lifes just reached out to dubcnn to get some new music he's been working on to us. We're gonna catch up with Coco Loco in near future for a little interview as well, to see what's up with the Low Lifes and if/when we can expect some new stuff.
Check out the song "New G-Generation", where Coco Loco speaks to the youth over an up-beat West Coast'd out beat, and "Somebody Gotta Do It", a straight G'd up track where Coco flexes his rhyme muscle, with Frank Nitty doin' the intro and outro.

The Inland Empire Connects On "The Whole 9" - July 25, 2006 By : Lil Jay

All these rappers keep saying that the West is through, they're like Eminem's group they ain't got no proof"
As Dubcnn exclusively reported a few weeks ago, the Inland Empire's finest MC's recorded a track to unify the whole I.E. Hip Hop scene. Milk of The SlepOnS and J. Brown begun a mission to bring together everyone on one track which is called "The Whole 9".
Well the song is finally here and ready to blow your speakers up! This monster track has most of the major players from the I.E. on it. Sly Boogy starts it off with a clean sounding verse, followed by Lunch, Diamonique, Dr. Stank, Dirty Birdy, Kartoon, The SlepOnS (Milk N Gus), Jeez A.k.A. J. Brown, R&B, Shorty Moe, Stico and Da Bandit, The Outskertz, Nick Dog, Roc Smith, ScarfizzI.E., WS Bugg, Irie Black, and even more (in no order).
This is one crazy line up, and so is the whole song itself. The song has no hook, just some raw spittin going on here with West Coast MC's showing their hunger. Every single rapper adds their own flavor to the track and they all rip it up. The main beat was laced by Fingazz who laid down a grimey beat. A few more producers like Dr. Stank, Jynxx, Twhy, and Seefor of the The Outskertz helped out on the production tip to showcase their skills. They come into action when the beat switches back and forth.
Chris Loos, Program Director from Wild 96, is hosting the track as well as the the compilation following the release of "The Whole 9".
Dubcnn has the song exclusively available for download. Click the link below:

Snoop Dogg Is About To Invade Dubcnn - July 25, 2006 By : Nima

That's right, those of you who downloaded The Game's single "One Blood" from the page heard Snoop Dogg drop a shoutout at the beginning of the song. We've once again linked up with Tha Doggfather, and this time, this might be the most extensive Snoop Dogg interview in history!
We chopped it up for well over an hour, touching on everything that might interest ya'll. From his new groups Warzone and Western Union, his upcoming album "Blue Carpet Treatment" and why he chose go back to his West Coast roots for it.
A big topic of the interview was Dr. Dre, from the relationship between him and Snoop, Detox, the politics at Aftermath, Dre working with West Coast artists, people claiming Dre stole beats from them, and much much more.
Also a big part of the interview is West Coast Unity, bringing everybody together instead of being sepparated, he speaks on Spider Loc, Game, 50 Cent amongst others and why the West needs to come together. He even touches on some old beefs such as when he had problems with Daz or Crooked I. Of course, we asked him about Tray Deee and the current relationship between the two.
Snoop has often been accused of selling out, forgetting about his roots, so we confronted him with that, and he really took the time to answer everything, from his heart.
Those are only a few of the topics though, you're going to have to wait for the whole thing!
The interview will be split up in 4 parts because of it's length, the first part going up either tonight 07/25 or tomorrow, 07/26, just keep checking the site!
Until then, here's a little audio drop from Snoop Dogg for the dubcnn visitors:

The ladies went crazy over "She's Like The Wind" in the 80's, from the movie "Dirty Dancing". Only a few oldies have been left untouched by the new generation, but this was one of those hits that nobody had decided to remake... until the VIBEKINGz came about. DJ S.T.A.T.I.C. and DJ Size took it upon themselves to release an updated version of the song with a fresh R&B twist.
They linked up with 23-year-old singer Maliq and rapper Spoon to record the song. They inked a deal with Universal Records, and have been climbing the charts overseas, it's only a matter of time before it catches on in the States.
I have the video available for ya'll to check out below:

George Clinton officially named him the Duke Of Funk; with the blessings from the legend himself, there is nothing holding Pomona's funkiest man Kokane back anymore. Our features on Koka have all been special, as we followed his path from his "Ghetto Gospel" project, over his Fingazz-produced "Take It Back To The Clap" album, to his current project, "Painkillerz".
We caught up with him once again, and once again it's a monster of an interview. Kokane tells us about his current label situation, having been through more shit than most artists in this game. But 75 million records later, he's still standing and ready to take on the game one more time, with Circle Music.
We speak on the title "Painkillerz", which has a deeper meaning behind it than you might imagine. He sings alot throughout the interview, giving us exclusive previews from the album, which includes collaborations with George Clinton, Jayo Felony, Kam, Pimpin' Young, Redman, Xzibit amongst others.
There's also a special appearance in the interview by Josef Leimberg, the young producer who provided the music for the entire "Painkillerz" album. Find out why Kokane chose this man to produce his new album.
Of course, Kokane speaks on his struggles in this industry, his current mindstate, aswell as his upcoming projects, including a duo album with Suga Free entitled "Suspended Animation: Suga Kane".
Those are only a few of the topics we touch on, don't miss out on this interview. To read it or listen to it now, click below:

Design The Cover For Janet Jacksons New Album - July 20, 2006 By : Yash

In an exciting promotion for her upcoming album 20 Years Old, R&B-pop superstar Janet Jackson is asking her fans to submit designs for the album’s cover through a contest held in conjunction with Yahoo! Music. Four winners will see their designs grace the cover of Janet’s new album when the CD hits stores on September 26th.
Beginning July 18th at 12noon PST, for one week, 33 images of Janet will be posted at Yahoo. Fans can download and “remix” the photographs to come up with their own version of the new album’s cover.
Designs will each be assigned a link that users can send to friends and family. The top four scoring finalists, as determined by Janet, will be declared the contest’s grand prize winners, and will see their design appear on selected publicly distributed copies of "20 Years Old". The remaining 16 finalists will be deemed runners-up, and will receive Janet’s entire album catalog on CD.
The design competition promises to stir up anticipation for the release of 20 Years Old, an album that executive producer Jermaine Dupri promises will “blow a new generation of minds” as it marks the anniversary of Janet’s career-making 1986 album, Control. Janet has re-teamed with her original collaborators, legendary hitmakers Jimmy “Jam” Harris and Terry Lewis, for "20 Years Old", which she has described as a celebration of what was going on musically back in the day when Control was released.
The album’s first single is the breezy, laid-back ““Call On Me” featuring St. Louis hip-hop star Nelly, which we premiered on Dubcnn last month and has already cracked the Top 40 pop chart and is a Top 15 track at urban radio.
Stay tuned to Dubcnn for the latest on Janet Jackson!Discuss This Topic

New Staff Member / Tyrese Press Release - July 19, 2006 By : Zuka

What's up people? Allow me introduce myself. My name is Zuka, the latest addition to the Dubcnn staff. You might know me from www.hoodstars.net, for which I among others interviewed artists like Akon, Killah Priest, The Outlawz (with a huge video feature) & Young Noble, Lil Eazy, Clinton Sparks, Chopper Young City, Avant, Flipsyde, Guru & Solar, Dutch hip hop group Opgezwolle, Yo Gotti and Apathy. Also check out this TQ video feature provided by ThugPoetry.com & Hoodstars.net.
This week I'll it ya'll with my first Dubcnn (video) interview, but before that I have a press release about West Coast rapper/singer/producer Tyrese & his new Best of Both Hoodz mixtape:
Multi-platinum, Grammy nominated singer, songwriter, actor, writer and producer Tyrese has officially launched his rap guise Black-Ty and has found support among rap’s elite including Method Man, Snoop Dogg, The Game, Mannie Fresh, Kurupt, Chingy, Paul Wall, Erik Sermon, David Banner, Ice Cube and Battlecat. Black-Ty’s debut mix-tape CD The Best of Both Hoodz Volume I (available on www.hiphopwest.com) also features tracks from DJ Warrior. Tyrese recently made his debut as Black Ty on June 25th at a performance in Los Angeles and fans came in droves to witness it.
Tyrese is approaching his rap career as if he were a new artist as proven when he personally handed out his The Best of Both Hoodz mix tape CD at the recent BET Awards and other high profile events. Tyrese has been rhyming since before he was singing, growing up in Watts. His roots were in hip hop, having been in a rap group called “Triple Impact” prior to the success of his solo R&B career. Tyrese has chosen to take a humble approach to his rap debut, “I never question the order of God’s blessing so I’m lucky to be able to rap and sing and I have been successful with R&B first. With regards to Black-Ty, he’s broke and not established and I have been grinding like a new artist. I want to work hard on my rap career from the ground up. I don’t want to be the biggest rapper out of the West Coast, I just want to contribute to the groundwork that’s already been laid out and do my part,” says Tyrese.
Although many of Tyrese’s colleagues in the music industry acknowledge his singing skills, they were taken aback by his delivery on the microphone as a rap artist. Says Method Man of Wu Tang Clan, “I was pleasantly surprised I must say. I did not know that Tyrese could rhyme so well but I should have known better. I am not just saying that because he’s the homie. His swagger is crazy. Everyone should give him a second look on this rap tip.” Snoop Dogg, who lent his support to the Black-Ty project by recording a track with Tyrese says, “He’s really got it cracking to the point where he didn’t seem like he was out of his range. It seemed like something that he was naturally born to do. That’s when I welcomed him to the game, being the king of the West, you know what I’m saying? He got my blessing as far as from the rap style of it, the rap side of it. This is one of the best albums I’ve ever heard. Anybody who ain’t behind it, come see me.” The Game, his co star in Waist Deep (Rogue Pictures/ Focus Features) which is in theaters now, has been an avid supporter, and has already laid down 4 tracks with Tyrese. “Tyrese is a good friend of mine and he has my support in whatever it is he wants to do. He's been successful on every scale from singing to acting, so what would make anybody think that he couldn't do rap? I heard some Tyrese sh-- and it's crazy.”
Tyrese has also enlisted Chris Lighty, founder of Violator management (50 Cent, Missy Elliot and Busta Rhymes) to officiate this Black-Ty hip-hop movement. Lighty will help launch Black-Ty’s superstar rap career, staking his reputation on Black-Ty and is confident that Black-Ty is poised to become a household name in hip hop. Fans can listen to more music from Black-Ty with the upcoming release of the Ghetto Royalty Volume I Mixtape hosted by NY’s own DJ S&S which is slated for release the first week of August 2006. Tyrese has released his mix-tapes through Headquarter Entertainment, his own multi-media enterprise which is based out of Los Angeles, California. Headquarter Entertainment is - Home of The Frontline BoyZ, his in house production team. The Frontline BoyZ can be heard on various tracks on both mix tapes and on his highly anticipated album “Alter Ego” scheduled for release Fall 2006 on J Records.Discuss This Topic

Watts' Jag Is "On The Come Up" - July 15, 2006 By : Rud

Watts, CA is fast emerging once again as a hot bed of unsigned talent and skills both from a lyrical angle and a production standpoint. Today we are proud to present an artist born in Watts before moving later in life to South Central LA.
Jag was born Ryan Joyner, raised in a single parent home by his mother. Music was not in his mindset until 1994 when he heard the Notorious B.I.G's hit single "Juicy" on the radio - it was then he felt a desire to embrace the culture and attempt to tackle the music industry as he grew up.
We have complied a complete On The Come Up article on Jag which includes details on his youth, getting involved with the Watts City movement [Bad Lucc, Halla & Stix], working with producers including 1500 [Dogghouse production], Klasic and five-time Grammy nominated Ricc Rude as well as details on his recent New York "Fight Klub" successes where he is set to battle T-Rex for the crown next month on MTV
Click here to read our On The Come Up feature on Jag
We also have two banging tracks available for download from Jag, one produced by Ricc Rude called "Cant' F-ck With Me" and the other by T.H.X called "For Real".
Jag - Can't F-ck With Me (Produced By. Ricc Rude) Jag - For Real (Produced By. T.H.X.)
This is just an introduction to Jag, we will be covering more news and details from him over the coming months as he prepares to return to New York for the "Fight Klub" event as well as new material he is working on.Discuss This Topic

Snoop Is Angry - Looks Like The West's Due A Shakeup - July 15, 2006 By : Rud

Bigg Snoop Dogg took some time yesterday to speak with AllHipHop about his new album; "The Blue Carpet Treatment" [due in the fall], his plans for WestCoast Dominance as well as his work on two new westcoast groups - who you may ask? Well the project we exclusively revealed last week called Warzone with MC Eiht, Kam & Goldie Loc [listen to Goldie Loc telling dubcnn about the project; here] - and the group that has been around for a few years and are no strangers to dubcnn - Westurn Union - which includes original members Damani & Bad Lucc and now includes DPG member Soopafly.
Snoop Dogg explained that we wishes to reclaim the top spot for the westcoast; "I hate losing. I'm a sore loser. That's why when the West Coast was losing, I had to come step the game up so we could get back in the game. We just want to get noticed one more time and then once you notice us and start to hear us, then you'll start to feel us."
With recent westcoast releases Snoop forsees a resurgence and a chance for the axle of power to shift back to left side of the country; "Ice Cube's album is out doing tremendous things right now and E-40's record came out bangin'. Keak Da Sneak did his thing, my n-ggas Tha Dogg Pound just came out [and] they sh-t smoking. Everybody's gearing up for my new record so it's coming back around. The Waist Deep movie just came out, which is West Coast sh-t. So it's like the movement is coming back full circle. It's got to come back home."
In regard to the new groups he is getting behind - all groups dubcnn readers are all too aware of [Warzone - MC Eiht, Kam & Goldie Loc, listen to Goldie Loc telling dubcnn about the project; here - and Westurn Union comprising of Damani, Bad Lucc and Soopafly] - Snoop explained his reasoning behind the alleigance; "My thing is trying to build the West Coast up by putting n-ggas together and formulating groups so we can learn how to group up as opposed to putting n-ggas out individually. I figured if we do groups and then one member shines, then we can push him solo. Put the group first and that way everybody eats."
Snoop also spoke about his frustration at other regions attitude towards the west when it is quiet; "I'm fin to put a stop to all that sh-t. All you motherf-ckin' suckers that ain't from the West Coast, n-gga, your pass has been revoked. Time out. We need our b-tches back, we need our lowriders back, n-gga. We need all that back n-gga -- with interest. We don't need y'all comin' out here wastin' time shooting our videos in our hood and then by the time we want to shoot, it look like some sh-t we stole from y'all. Get the f-ck out of here. They know not to confront me and I wish one of them would, I'm talking to every last one of you n-ggas. Straight from the Dogg's mouth. All that doing videos and sh-t out here n-gga without checking in with Snoop Dogg is over with."
The angst expressed here by Snoop seems to go further that just the video angle - he also believe its having an effect on employment; "A lot of these n-ggas just come out here using us, and not using us. If you gonna come to the West, start using some of these n-ggas and give them jobs. I can't come to your town and shoot a video without hiring some of your people and checking in with the right folks and what not. I'mma get ran up out there. Come on man. Show some love."
It seems Snoop's got the fire back under him, he's p-ssed, he's angry - lets hope that this echoes on his new LP - "Blue Carpet Treatment" [in stores October 18] - his lead single "Vato" is burning up the radio, listen to the exclusive snippet of the single here.
In related news we've been hearing some people think Snoop Dogg don't love dubcnn no more...*tut-tut* - Snoop, i know you and your people are reading this - lets set the haters straight!Discuss This Topic

Life After Death Row - The DVD [Trailer + Info] - July 8, 2006 By : Nima

As previously reported, Dynasty Ent is currently preparing the release for the "Life After Death Row" DVD, a documentary about the music business, which is set to drop August 29th 2006. Most of you probably thought this would just be a Crooked I DVD, but it's shaping up to be more than that.
Featuring interviews with the who's who of the industry, from Russel Simmons, Master P, Dave Mays amongst others, to some background info you probably don't know about, such as RBX' story, who was the first artist to leave Death Row Records.
Of course, you will get alot of Crooked I, and understand his path, from his four years on Death Row, to his status as an independent artist.
The biggest news though, is that the DVD will come with a full soundtrack! Originally, a mini-soundtrack with around eight tracks was planned, but they've decided to drop a full soundtrack along with the DVD. You can get a little taste of it by checking out the Chopped 'N' Screwed version of Crooked's Scott Storch produced banger "Cali Boyz", at the official dynasty myspace page.
I also have the full trailer of the "Life After Death Row" DVD, which will give you a good idea of what the DVD will look like. Download it below:

Outlawz: H Ryda News / Napolean's Farewell Verse [Audio] - July 8, 2006 By : Nima

Fans first heard Hassachi Ryda on the Outlawz debut album "Ride With us or Collide with Us" on "Mask Down". Since then, H Ryda has been grinding and is ready to drop his debut album. His sound can be described as that raw outlaw sound fans are accustomed to. H Ryda has collaborations with Yukmouth, C- Bo, Muszamil, Roscoe, Bad Azz, Napoleon and many others.
We are proud to bring a truly exclusive track from H Ryda featuring Napoleon. This is the last verse ever recorded by Outlaw member Napoleon who retired from the music industry almost two years ago.
Many were aware of the solo album Napoleon was working on which was being produced by Johnny J. There was a lot of focus, and hope on this project but due to industry politics and a focus on his faith Napoleon left the rap game.
In this collaboration with H Ryda, Napoleon in his farewell verse passes the torch to his brother Muszamil, and H Ryda who at the time of recording this track was dealing with the death of his father Big H.
Check out the song below:
