Paul's wife died about 3 years ago... Paul asked Dre to contribute a song to a tribute album of beatles cover songs being released to raise money for Breast Cancer charity, which is what killed Linda.  Now, I don't know how dre could do it... he could Produce a cover song I guess, but I'm not sure.  Dre's a big beatles fan (Eminem and Snoop are too, imagine that), so it should be interesting.  That would basically be Pop production though, there's no beats involved, just guitars and drums, so I don't know how Dre would go about producing it.

u know i really hate the beatles...but one thing i like is how people with so simple lyrics...so simple music...crap voices (the truth really) can be as famous as they were....and really respect that fact!! i can't believe someone with dre's ability to suply dope beats can be a fan of shite like that!! but then i guess it really is his choice!

I dislike The Beatles too.  I just think their image is too hunky dory and they are too plain as artists.  With their heads boppin side to side, holding those guitars the way they doo.  They seemed so manufactured, like robots as they played.

The beatles, if ya don't know, started out like the Backstreet Boys, and grew into one of the most lyrically talented groups ever, I took a music appreciation class, and they're mentioned alongside Beethoven and Bach.  They were that great.  McCartney/Lennon is the greatest songwriting team of all time.  If you can look at them subjectively, you'll see they were the most talented group easily of the century.

They started out just writing love songs, in 1962.  They were good love songs, kinda like Usher, or somebody today.  For back then, it was good.  NOBODY was making real music, all music was doo-wop, or early rock from the states.  Little Richard, Elvis, etc. were king, and Motown was just starting with the supremes, and smokey robinson.  

Then, in 1965, John Lennon got the idea to write a song about his life.  He started writing real music, as opposed to music designed to make women cream.  He wrote "My Life", stll a love song, but all about his thoughts, his feelings.  He wrote "Norweigan wood" all about him cheating on his wife.  He wrote "Girl", about the same thing.  By 1967, every song the beatles were writing was superior to anything else on the radio, you can take one of their throwaway songs, and it'll be better than the best songs on other albums.

They're solely responsible for turning pop music into something more respected, unfortuantely since then we've gone backwards.  George Harrison invented the Wah Guitar, which made Hendrix famous.  John lennon was the first to talk rythmically in a song, paving the way for rap.  Paul McCartney came up with the idea of recording a drum beat, then looping it through the song , adding samples over it, which is hip hop 101.  Beatles were pretty much the first to cuss on record... they wre only around about 7 years, and put out 12 or so albums, along with 20 #1 songs, which still hasn't been topped by any group.  If you think their lyrics are simple they must be above your head, or you're not familiar with their later work.

KVB: Have you ever listened to the Beatles? Or are you just speaking from ignorance? Their Debut record was in 1963.

If you start a revolution, it is not just a "Trend" look closer at what trauma wrote... He dropped some knowledge on all of you.


I wish that before dismissing any other form of music, you all would at least give it a chance. The Beatles defined a generation. Kind of like what rap music is doing today, but they were one group.
