Nas Goes Gold In First Week?

"Nas' latest album, Stillmatic has apparently gone Gold. According to the Choice FM rap show, the album has surpassed the 500,000 sales figure in it's first week, certifying it a Gold Plaque. This is despite the bootlegging of the album a couple of weeks prior to it's release. This is another victory over Jay-Z, who could only manage 400,000+ sold in his first week, although his album did drop on the same day as the WTC disaster. Whether this will be enough for Nas to enter the charts at #1 is another story. All shall be revealed later in the week."

How is Nas selling 500,000 the week before Christmas a victory over Jay Z who still managed to push well over 400,000 units during the week of the United States' biggest tragedy ever?  Give me a break.  Im happy for Nas, but his numbers arent NEARLY as impressive  as Jay Z.

Look, I like Nas-but lets face facts.  First off-the 500,000 isnt official yet..

Second off-This is the BIGGEST week of album sales of the year.  So in this case, Im more interested in his 3rd week sales, as opposed to his first weeks.

And last but not least, Nas made a video but its failed to generate a buzz-thats fine.  But what has generated a buzz is his feud with JayZ, which you have to admit has done A LOT for these supposed "500,000" copies he's sold.  So hey-Im glad for Nas and Stillmatic is a pretty decent album..but let's wait untill the 500,000 in 1 week is confirmed and let's also see if hes even selling 100,000 for week 3 weeks from now.
