J Wells To Emerge Once Again Through "Digital Smoke" - September 20, 2006 By : Rud

Long time dubcnn featured Rapper/Producer J. Wells has been in touch to give us some information on his long awaited new album; "Digital Smoke."

It's been a long wait for fans since J. Wells completed his debut album in 2005, "Digital Master," which was hugely successful throughout the West Coast. This was his debut release on his own label, Bonzi Records, and featured an array of talent including Bishop Lamont (of Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Records), Method Man, Goodie Mob, Tha Liks, Jayo Felony, Kurupt, Roscoe, and Planet Asia.

J. Wells also produced the Goodie Mob single, "Play Yo Flutes," featuring Sleepy Brown, for Goodie Mob’s album "One Monkey Don't Stop No Show." Recently Wells has been working on songs for Snoop Dogg's forthcoming album "The Blue Carpet Treatment." There has been a surge in demand for J. Wells after having his tracks featured on hit shows including, The Sopranos and Six Feet Under as well as the blockbuster film and soundtrack Be Cool. His songs are also featured in the video games: EA Sports, 2004 Tiger Woods Golf and EA Sports 2006 Fight Night, as well as commercials for major corporations including Starbucks, McDonald’s and Coors Light, directed by Paul Hunter. Currently J. Wells can be found in the studio working with Ne-Yo, Rakim, Angie Stone, Nate Dogg, Petey Pablo, Tyrese, Inspectah Deck, Dead Prez, Tha Dogg Pound, D-12, Keiysha Cole and many more.

At the same time his is finishing up the aforementioned "Digital Smoke" album which is set to feature Kurupt, Dead Prez, Knoc- Turn'Al, Jayo Felony, Daz, Roscoe, Inspectah Deck, Goodie Mob, DJ Quik, Mitchy Slick, Tha Alkaholiks & more. As a special treat to fans J. Wells has released to us a track that is set to be on the album due for release in early 2007 on Bonzi Records/Universal.

The track features Knoc-Turn'Al and is entitled "Got Me Goin'" which features an interpolation of the classic Kinks record from 1964.

Bigg up Dubcnn!. The track is pretty good. Damn, It's good to see Knoc-Turn'al making music agian!. LMAO @ the "my drunk homeboy Knoc-Turn'al in the house". Damn, Always hearin' bout Knoc's alcohol problems. This is more like a Knoc track then a J.Wells track. Knoc's hook is alright. Knoc's 1st verse is better then alright for sure. J. Wells is not bad either. What bothered me was that Knoc's 2nd verse was the SAME verse he spit on his freestyle session when he was on Rap City Tha Bassment when The Way I Am came out. Also, Sonic Wave Intl. had a "single cd" they were selling (a Knoc song that didn't appear on "Return Of The Hustler") and that song contained that verse as well.

lol. Well this is the 2nd recent song with Knoc were he says he's been laying low. Maybe he hintin' that he's ready to get back on his grind. I think we can all pretty much agree that it would be pretty nice 2 get a Knoc record (on Treacherous, NOT Soinc Wave).

Man, J Wells got heat. He's definitely one of the most promising New West producers. I like his sound: clearly West Coast but on a different level - not G-Funk and not Storch-style. I'm feeling it.

Thanks for the hook-up. I'll check for this album...
