PSP users - emulators
« on: October 04, 2006, 01:43:21 PM »
Anyone with a PSP into the whole emulation of old consoles scene they've got going on. As my fireware was too new I didn't realise I could use this stuff but as they now have a program that can take you back to version 1.50 from most other versions I've just started getting into it. Feels great being able to play some classic Megadrive and SNES games on the move, and I'm going to try and find an Amiga emulator soon to relive some more of my gaming past. This has brought a whole new side to the PSP for me as I was starting to get annoyed with the lack of great games being released for it.

Only problem I have is I can't find a ROM for Super Donkey Kong 1 or 2 anywhere so if anyone can help me on that it would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know if I understand you correctly, but if you mean Donkey Kong Country and Diddy Kong's Quest (I think that's Super Donkey Kong 1 and 2 in Japan), then here you go:

LOL Everybody buys a psp, realizes it's basically an expensive black turd, then download programs to play old games Nintendo built 15 years ago on it, lol.

Well mines actually an expensive white turd but why wouldn't anyone be excited about being able to play such games on the move, especially as you yourself are getting excited by the thought of paying for them again in order to play them on the Wii.

You miss my point.  I think it's great that you can play old Nintendo games on the PSP.  I just think it shows that the quality of newer games, and the quality of the games for the psp is shit.  You would rather play a game that Nintendo made 15 years ago on it, then play what they've released new for the system.

Well yeah I completly agree because the games lineup for the PSP has been very disappointing, hence why I've got back to the old games. Just think it might give people a reason to buy a PSP who may not have before, knowing they can basically use it is a classic gaming handheld.

Cheers to MIC for the two Donkey Kong games, that was what I meant, but I always knew them as "super" cause I had the Japanese versions back in the day.

MIC - any chance of getting those ROMS uploaded to yousendit or something other than Rapidshare, I can never get Rapidshare to work when I'm on a wireless network.

Anyone got a CPS2 emulator (Street Fighter Alpha series, Marvel Vs. Series) working on a PSP?

If there's a fully working version available, it's almost worth the price of the PSP alone.

What is CPS2? An arcade board?

^^ Yeah the Capcom arcade board that ran Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Street Fighter Zero 1-3, X-Men vs Street Fighter, and so on. It ran a few old skool Sega classics too.

Here's a few screenshots: http://www.finalburn.com/fb/shots.html

I have all the ROMs d/l'ed on my PC -  average 20Mb a game which isn't bad at all. I would love to play them on a PSP, especially if someone managed to enable Versus battles across Wi-Fi.

Looks like it might be your lucky day

No word on ad-hoc multiplayer although the emulator of CPS1 is likely to have it soon, and the SNES emulator does, so it might be added in the future. Could you possibly upload some of the ROMs you've got and I'll give this a try.
