Props to Laker fans from other cities...
« on: January 19, 2007, 11:38:42 AM »
I love it when a team thinks they have home-court advantage, but they really don't because the Lakers are in town...How about when Kobe dunks one in a purple jersey and the whole arena gasps and buzzes about it through the next 5 plays? Wonderful shit...Last year I drove to Phoenix to watch a Lakers@Phoenix game, and I saw nothing but Laker jerseys at the Hard Rock Cafe right before the game...I mean, do any other teams get this same treatment? I think it's priceless...

Theres a shit load of Raider fansthat go to Monster park for Raider vs. Niner games. But they're been shut up lately with the recent losses to the Niners.

not in basketball, but the yankees do, and to an even higher extreme than the lakers.

raiders also have a lot of fans universally, but they've been a little more quiet as of late (for obvious reasons)

I went to MSG last year and saw Kobe drop "only" 35, that was about his average, fans were dissapointed and shit, they were hoping for one of those 60 point games, LOL

Check the link I posted...I have a feeling that maybe this is why so many people hate the Lakers and their fans. 8)

You're surprised by this?  The Lakers are one of the most successful franchises of all time.  Of course they're gonna have bandwagon fans all over the country.  People like to associate themselves with successful sports teams because they think the team's success somehow validates them, and makes them better fans than those that cheer for other teams.

Where I come from it's called "success-fans".

Fans like me and my soccer team get hated a lot, for the plain reason that it's the best soccer team in the country (in history, and by a landslide at that).
There are mad bandwagon fans, and also mad haters. I'm from the city where the team is from, like you. Sucks for us, but people hate us.
Cause I don't care where I belong no more
What we share or not I will ignore
And I won't waste my time fitting in
Cause I don't think contrast is a sin
No, it's not a sin

Yea, that logic COULDA worked, only Lakers had fans all over the country even when they weren't successful. There goes the whole "bandwaggon" theory....PeACe

They wouldn't have those fans if they didn't have a history of success.  You don't see throngs of Clippers fans everywhere you go.

You're right...Being a great franchise does come with collecting a lot of fans. But as long as they're not bandwaggon fans who lack support when the team isn't at its hottest, then it's all good...PeACe

I'd say the vast majority of "Laker" fans that aren't from LA would fall in that category.
