Anyone heard Cormega's new album "The Realness"??
« on: July 29, 2001, 06:41:26 PM »
This album is off tha chain. Some people are comparing this album to Nas's "Illmatic" and Mobb Deep's "Infamous". I wouldnt go that far, but this album is a possible classic, and almost certainly the best of the year so far.......

Just buy the album man. Its hot as fuck. People were hypin it up so much [saying its almost as good as The Infamous] I had doubts at first to, but I peeped it and now I see what they are talking about. I wouldnt say its on the same level as The Infamous, but its not too far behind. Its definatly a near classic, and could be a classic in due time.

Btw, I dont think this album is too underground, cuz its sold out almost everywhere [here in Cali at least]. Im still trying to find MY copy, lol. And thats saying something, cuz this is an east coast album.

Im sorry, but this album is MUCH better than 2001. This is RAW hip hop at its finest, not cliche songs about hoez and weed. And probably the best Queensbridge album since It Was Written. This album is a near-classic, 4.5 mics, and it may become a classic in due time......

Veteran, have you heard the album?? That shit is hot, pure and simple. Alot of heads are comparing this album to The Infamous and even Illmatic. While I wouldnt go that far, I can see why they would. The album is that raw street shit that the Queensbridge albums are known for, and with the state hip hop is in right now, this album is welcomed with open arms. This album could become a classic, as it may help turn hip hop around from its horrid state that its in right now. We'll see what happends... While 2001 is a good album to bump in your ride, it just cant touch Cormega's album. Listen to "Amercian Beauty", a story about hip hop and its evolution [portrayed metaphorically as a woman]. INCREDIBLE song. This album sounds like a newer version of The Infamous, but not quite as dark.

Dog, you're entitled to ur opinion but to me you're talkin' a whole bunch of nonsense. U'll be the ONLY person on the planet honestly thinking that Cormega's joint is actually "MUCH better" than Dre's "2001" (even in Queensbridge, and I live in Brooklyn so u can't tell me shit about NY rap). Plus, I don't even need to listen to it to say that: I just don't dig Mega like dat. His voice's wack and lyrically, he's just average to me, NOT on the skill level of a Nas or a Prodigy; he could box with Nature or Nore (who at least has his own style) but as for Capone, I'm not even too sure... So no, I WILL NOT cope his joint. Still, it may very well be a dope ass record with thorough beats and rhymes. Just don't go as far as saying "the best album since It was Written" (how about "Hell On Earth" or "Murda Muzik" ????) or "best album of the year" coz the year ain't over... Keep it real...
