i think snoop will show love to the rest of cali peeps later on down the road....he has to worry about his label and his artist...he has the west coast on lock and has to keep it that way...........

there are alot of cats out there...releasin independent shit..that is Tight as fuck...but they just dont have the distribution.......mac dre mac mall, the whole dam yea, shit...even spice-1 has released some new underground independent shit...that is tight...and he is a real O.G. that is slept on.  Even RBL -Posse has a new CD out......im sure its tight....i just cant find it anywhere......its all about distribution...i am sure more peeps would know about more cats out west...if they had better channels...

but yeah....i try to get everything snoop dogg is involved with.....i wouldnt of bought the dj clue soundtrack if snoop wasnt on there.....

and when Bad Azz comes out...and he goes at least gold.......you know it is because of snoop,   snoop took him under his wings...and let priority know whats up.....that is shit on lock....

actually more people from the west were gettin recognized with dre, i don't know if you know this or not but dre was a MAJOR reason why 2pac blew up and 89% of the reason why most of these west coast cats are up in this game, the rest came from either Ice Cube or Eazy-e's branch

i gotta disagree with what u said about how Dre was major reason 2Pac blew up...Pac already was popular with albums Strictly For My Niggaz and Me Against The World...he might of introduced him to the suburbanites but thats it...he was already a multiplatinum artist..but Dre helped him wit Cali Love...ONE

To be honest, Dre doesn't run the west. Dre is too bi-coastal, as it should be, with his style and who he works with. Eminem, Rakim, Mel-Man, and others like Nas are not westcoast. Dre only hooked back up with the west because he needed a tight album, now his getting more bi-coastal. As for who runs the west now, that's easy, S-N-double O-P D-O double Gezzy. That's right, Snoop Dogg, who is the head of Doggystyle records, a straight westcoast sounding lable with westcoast artist, and now that he got rid of the tank, he has a more athentic westcoast sound. Snoop is the leader of the D.P.G.C.s and has help bring out many great westcoast artist, as Daz, Kurupt, Crooked I, Nate Dogg, Swoop G, Soopafly, Trey Deee, Goldie Loc, Bad Azz and many others have all came from Snoop's Dogg Pound. Now Snoop is the head of the west, as Aftermath has and always will be bi-coastal. Now Dre is the main player in rap, but his not wearing the west coast crown, Snoop got that shit back.

haha dont get mad jake im just stating my opinion, i see your quick to call others closed minded but get mad if i call u it huh. okay, all good.

and no, you couldnt school me in shit

west coast hip hop wouldve evolved regardless, especially g-rap. even without dre and cube. Look at King T, Ice T, Mixmaster Spade, fools that were doing gangsta rap when dre was still in his spandex doctors outfit.
YES I AGREE they did sooooo much for the game and brought in a lot of artists, but by no means are the be-all-and-end-all of west coast hip hop.

dont hate tho, i do respect your opinion, just dont ever patronize me or say you could school me  on hip hop cuz u dont know a damn thing about my knowledge

"Nigga what up now?. you act like a bitch, you bound to get fucked, you trick ass snitch!" - Snoop Dogg - "Buck Em"

"Stranded on death row for pumpin slug's in muthafucka's" - Kurupt - "Stranded on Death Row"

Here's a message to the youngsters today, standing by you can die - Nate Dogg - "One More Day"

For beats its Dre.
like he said on X's ablum 'The king of these West coast gangsta beats' - thats no contest.

Beyond that... Snoop is building a stable of (mainly LB) West Coast artists

Dre is building a smaller - more elite' superlabel - but not of exclusive west coast acts - he's moved beyond the west.

The main west coast contenders are Death Row with Crooked I, Dogghouse/Doggystyle plus outsiders DPG Recs.

Daz & Kurupt, especially Daz with the Jay-Z rumours. combined with Jay-Zs beef with Jayo could make things very interesting.

I hope Daz & Kurupt blow up bigger than ever - they've been down for too long - bouncing up from the back of this Warren G and the rest of the DPGC family and more together than ever before.

Anyways.. back to the topic at the moment I'd say its Snoop - but its *very* rocky - his label needs to drop a bomb badly - and soon.

i was thinkin about this some more just now and im like do we really need a king of west coast rap?

to be honest there will never be an artist like Pac who the whole coast can rally around, wont happen. what i would like to see happen is everyone just clicking up, gettin on each others records, just makin money, doing it real big.

you see that attitude with the DPGs and snoop and his boys, but not really anywhere else. a lot of cats is out for numero uno, but to make the west really come back, as a whole, its got to be some networking going on, so a lot of people get a chance to blow up. not just one click like we got now, cuz now a lot of fools get slept on if it aint dre/snoop-affiliated.

and they say the west is 'back' but its just dre and snoop who are 'back', the west on a whole still aint selling shit. maybe its the music, maybe its the fans, i dont know.

comments?

The problem is people dont like that classic smooth shit anymore.. i think stuff like Coastin is the next wave.

Its got elements everyone likes - no one I know dislikes it.

By hooking up with Daz Jiggas trying to keep the East (and therefore himself) up

It's like D.B.A. said in the Source.

"It's hard because (Snoop and Dre) got it locked up so cold.  And you can't be mad at them for that."

Snoop and Dre are running things out West.  Bottom Line.  The Alkoholiks and Xzibit are blowing up now because of Xzibit's connection with Dre.  The Dogg Pound, Eastsidaz etc. have that connection with Snoop.  "Things will remain the same until I change em."  Dre
