Cube aint doing shit to be honest, i loved the war disc but he certainly aint runnin shit like Pac did.

gotta be snoop and dre, dre and snoop, but still they arent on Pac's level of uniting the whole coast. i remember real talented artists from the bay and LA were all getting their due when Pac was throwing up that dub in 96

when we gonna see some other fools get a chance to shine?

CONTRAVERSY COMING SOON

dr. dre and ice cube have been the entire west coast for damn near 20 years now...the only time they weren't the kings were when they wern't putting out music, i think 2pac is the greatest rapper but  Ice Cube, Dre, and Snoop have been west coast longer than pac....think about it, pac only had his west coast image for 9 months....

To me, nobody has.  Seriously though there are a lot of rappers who are from the west coast or who used have that westcoast flavour but nobody is really puttin it down for the west in mainstream and upholdin the sound.  Nowadays shit is dominated by Jay-Z and the R.O.C clique and nobody is really steppin up for the Westcoast to give him a run for his money.  Let's look at the Wests main runners - Snoop - He's not doin westcoast shit in my eyes anymore, his flavour has definately changed.  "To me Snoop Dogg" has more of an East Coast flavour than anything.  I own Tha Last Meal and I didn't feel any of the golden west coast sound I was cravin'.  And while Chronic 2001
was a good West Coast artist album it was a new flavour for dre and in my eyes wasn't as good as Tha Chronic.  It just didn't feel like classic westcoast shit.  It was a classic album and I bought it but it just didn't feel like WestCoast shit.  In my eyes the last truely great westcoast album with the feel the artists the beats the everything was Kurupts Tha Streetz Iz a Mutha.  Since then it has pretty been a lotta artists sleepin' on the west coast flavour.  It could just be me but I miss the flashin dub in videos and pictures and I miss hearing Westcoast at the beginnning of songs or westsiiide here and there.  I miss the all of the Westside artists getting exposure and all of the WC rappers working together making classic songs.  I miss songs 'bout Cali like "In California" and "To Live and Die in LA" and "Cali Love" and "Only in California".  Don't get me wrong, I DO NOT want another east vs. west battle to come out of this I just want some classic west coast stuff to come out.  Some G-Funk, somethin you can listen to in your backyard havin a BBQ or cruisin down the strip or just chillin with your friends something that truly makes ya proud to live on the westcoast or if ya don't makes ya feel like yer right there.  After 2Pac died and Death Row fell the West Coast rap I loved died.  Like I said before Dre and Snoop are still excellent rappers and have success up the ass but in my eyes just don't have the old westside flavour of the Death Row days.  Oh well, the new DPG album is comin out and Coastin gives me a ray of hope,  I haven't heard any of the other songs so I hope they maintain the West Coast flavour and blow up.  Maybe that'll get Snoop back rappin with the West Coast cats again, Cube will rep the west again, Daz and Kurupt will finally get the sales they deserve, Warren Gs new album will get the sales and props it deserves, E-40 will blow up cause we all know he deserves it and Crooked Is new album will bring a new West Coast player to the scene and revive Death Row.  I know a lotta people here hate Tha Row but they makin good music (even if it is a lotta disses) and I am anxious as hell to hear Crooked's new joint, I hope it revives Tha Row.  I just hope that the West becomes more mainstream again and when I go out with my friends they don't blast East Coast Oochie Walley, Danger shit cause that makes my high come. Fuckin Oochie Wally..does anybody else hate that song??  Oh well...Hopefully the West will be back on top soon.  And if all goes well the rapper best representing the West right now won't have been dead for 4 1/2 years.

Sorry for the long post and I don't really know if you smell what I'm shitting I suck at writing.

Yeah I'm closed minded but at least I realize that  ;D.  But I didn't ever say I hated the East Coast or anything like that I just said I missed and wanted the old West Coast back and the new WC rappers to get some recognition like new WCers were gettin back when Pac was alive.  I like some East Coast it's not like I hear somethings from the East and immediatly trash it...I listen to songs first, then trash them ;D if they suck that is.  And I stand by saying that I hate Oochie Walley.

actually more people from the west were gettin recognized with dre, i don't know if you know this or not but dre was a MAJOR reason why 2pac blew up and 89% of the reason why most of these west coast cats are up in this game, the rest came from either Ice Cube or Eazy-e's branch

thats true definitely, but jake you cant call g-child closed minded when you have the excat same opinion just about a different artist.

and yes dre and cube have developed the artists around them and much love to them, but right now its like the west coast aint selling shit unless dre is the exec, that is a major fan/support problem right there.

and there are a LOT of west coast artists who have no relation to cube dre or eazy apart from they were influenced by them. eg C-Bo, X-Raided, E40, Too Short, even in SoCal u got Jayo, Ras kass, Xzibit (who, believe it or not, was dope way before dre 'adopted' him), Eiht etc etc

so dont think every west coast rapper stems from those 3 artists. yea they are dope and much MUCH respect and love to them, but there is so much more talent out there, and its you thats being closed minded if you dont recognize it because Dre isnt on it.

For Me, Snoop Dogg DEFINATELY Has The Westcoast Crown.  Dre Is Kinda On Another Level Right Now, Working With Everybody, But As Far As An Emcee That You Can't Mess With, Snoop Is It.  I Look Forward To Every Song He's On, And He Gets Me Laughing Every Time, He's Just Cool, And Perfectly Represents The Westcoast To Me.  I'm Not Saying He's The Best Lyricist, Or Anything, I'm Just Saying That When You Incorporate His Image, History, And Charisma, Snoop Is Untouchable, And Probably Will Be For A Long Time.

I gotta agree with Snoop since I live in NY, and he's the only westcoast cat that gets any kind of play here.
