DJ Quik - Somethin' 4 Tha Mood
« on: April 21, 2008, 07:15:24 PM »
I've been bumpin' this joint off of Safe + Sound all day today during my breaks at school on my ipod. I feel this is one of the best songs from the album, along with "Keep Tha P In It" & "Tha Ho In You" that aren't talked about that much from Safe + Sound. "Somethin 4 Tha Mood" has a tinge of that "Death Row" G-Funk vibe to it like on "Regulate...G Funk Era" & "Above the Rim Soundtrack" as well as from "Way 2 Fonky" era with the flutes & the dope samples in the background. 8)

^That song is in my top 3 from "Safe & Sound" I like how the beat rides for 2 min at the end.

^Yup. Already knew, which is why I said it earlier. The tracks off of 2nd II None's "Tha Shit" were executive produced by Suge too. It's also interesting that some of the songs on "Tha Shit" have the same samples from "Safe + Sound", but since they were made around the same time, it's kind of obvious why. 8)

^Yeah I feel you on that one homie. I'm sure there's a lot more shit that Quik, 2nd II None, AMG & all of Quik's camp have done during that 1992-1994 Death Row period that hasn't been released. But nowadays, it's a shame 2nd II None & Quik don't see eye to eye anymore. They've made plenty of classic songs together. 8)

Classic song on from a classic album. Defnitely on my top 10 g funk songs of all time. The last minute or so w/the flutes...u'll never hear that in rap again. shame too.
