first and foremost

1. Tim Duncan> KG
2. Karl Malone> Barkley> Duncan

the spurs will peter out at the end of the season, especially duncan,  so i'm not really worried about them.

i typically hear it as

Duncan> Malone > Barkley. OCCASIONALLY an argument for Malone as #1. But not many as of the last 2 yrs. Duncan has been a more consistent all around performer then either of those two, i mean, in every aspect of the game...offensively, defensively, on the boards, setting up other teammates, winning. Malone was a high scorer, but he was being spoon-fed most of his career. He's only up there because of his points scored....i think Barkley was actually a better all around player then Malone. But Barkley did lack size, and...even though he was on some VERY good teams....he could never lead his team to a championship.  Most analysts agree, but a lotta younger fans get influenced by the type of play someones plays with rather then the quality of it.

those are valid arugments, however i don't see Duncan being in his last year playing injured and schooling the MVP of the league like Malone did in his final season with the lakers against KG. Malone had the convenience of having stockton his career, but i don't think that takes away from his legacy at all. He wasn't even a high scorer really, he gave you 18 or so and 10 in a better fundamentally sound era of basketball. I like barkley a lot more than i like Malone, however i still feel the highs of his playing are a lot better than duncans...yes he never won a championshp, but he never had David Robinson, or a cast of role player such as duncan has had either. When he did get that help (with the rockets) he was playing with players at the END of their careers. I think you put Duncan in the other two's positions and you either get the same results or lesser. I think Malone and Barkley however, excel and win more in Duncan's.

hmm...

KG has Pierce & Allen & every other game one of the three has there game, whereas Timmy's two right hand men (Manu & Parker) are injured. so he's getting a majority of the offensive plays.

although more rebounds is surprizing to me lol.

but again, they give Leon Powe his mintues in Boston & Timmy is out there playin every minute he can...

Having those other offensive threats could take away from his PPG...but it should help his FG% which is lower then Duncans. Duncan has been the sole threat for half of this short season so far whereas KG has had his whole team intact. Defenses have been able to completely focus on Timmy when they cant do that with KG.

Duncan>>>>KG  all day every day

Duncan, Barkley and Malone are the 3 best Power Fowards ever but it's hard for me to compare the 3 against each other.

Duncan is the best PF of all time. Who's done more at the position? Who's accomplished more? The 4 rings speak loud and clear.

Malone woulda won back-to-back titles in Duncan's shoes.

i think its a pure toss up between duncan and malone, i mean depending on what system they were in and teamates etc they were very comparable. But one thing judging from this thread is that everyone universelly agrees that duncan has had a great career and that dosent happen very often on this forum where we all agree on a player lol  ;D

Malone woulda won back-to-back titles in Duncan's shoes.

but couldnt win ONE with the best assist PG of all time feeding him the ball and probably one of the most efficiently run offenses ever? Youre basically saying the Jazz had the best power forward of all time, and maybe the second best PG of all time....and they were not able to win ONE? Duncan has won how many? With Tony Parker (who IS good, but he's not at John Stockton status) and Manu (who is good also, but nowhere near Stockton status).  Malone was great, dont get me wrong...but he wasnt really the leader of those teams, Stockton was.  You cant argue the fact that Duncan can EASILY create his own offense better then Malone, he's a better defender, probably equal on the boards....but Duncan has the rings on top of it. Again, Id still put Barkley above Malone.
