Was 2pac the best at pickin beats

I gotta say everyone says alot about pac but i think one thing that goes under the radar was he was one of the best a pickin beats to rap on. I can go threw most of Pacs songs and not too many are wack beats, he had a nack at pickin the fire.

yeah thats real talk. i think pac had the right productions that suited his style and flow.
mostly all his joints had dope productions that complemented pac, except the new albums that they try to remix all the time.
for me thou the 'me against the world' album had dopest beats. "old school, temptations, lord knows, heavy in the game...etc"
most of the producers that worked on his stuff were: johnny j, easy mo bee (temptations), shock g - (so many tears, i get around etc), dr.dre (california love, can't c me), daz (gangsta party, skandalous, got my mind made up, etc), doug rasheed (rather be ya NIGGA), devante...etc

I remember I read an interview from QD3 where he said that sometimes Pac just listened to the beat via phone for just a few seconds and picked it! Pac was a genius! RIP

I think Pac's ear for beats also came from 2 things. One he was in the studio with the producer when they created the beats most of the time and the producers stepped they game up a notch because they knew they were in there with a true professional. Daz, Quik, Johnny J they all said the same thing as quick as they could do a beat and Pac listened to it, he was laying vocals down. It was organic the way he was building and putting songs together with the producers. Now a days beats get emailed and vocals too and it is cut and paste.

I'm not sure it was necessarily that they were the best beats but I think Pac could bring out the best in them. The game was so different back then. I think Pac just knew how to get what he wanted out of the songs. I don't think he was hung up on production like artists these days. I mean, maybe it's me but if you take a lot of Pac's songs and remove his words from them and just play the instrumental, a lot of  them weren't necessarily hot beats. It's not to say they were shit but I don't think he had exceptional ears for picking beats.

They were unreleased, meaning not ready for an album.  He did the same lyrics over several beats many times, for instance...Still Ballin' which was released on Thug Life is one of my all time favorite pac songs, and that beat is classic...there are many other unreleased versions of the song, and none come even close to the version that was released.

yeah maybe, but how many rappers do u know bout that listens to the beats over a phone? No im not dickriding, but saying pac beats sucked cuz u have listened to the OG that NEVER got released is stupid. We dont know how far the editing would go, if it was just a demo version or whatever.. just like Hitem Up OG vs the released version.. see the difference?
