This forum is so damn slow now.  Seriously it took about 5 minutes to load the first page and then near 2 minutes to load each time I click something, and I am on DSL.  No offence Overseer, I appreciate the time and effort you put into the new design, but I just can't handle this.  What is causing the huge slowdown?  I don't even have the patience to check topics, cause the shit takes way too long.

okay... i've read up on the problem a bit more.

the problem is that the database can only have a certain number of queries at a time... now... the more people that try to use wcc at the same time.. the worse it gets because instead of getting 'instant queries' they get queued up.... now once they start being queued...... everything is queued..... and it gets worse.

now of course, this means the most popular times are now the times when no one can use it, because they're all causing each other to be shut out.
the quieter it gets, the faster the board is.

i am looking into the fix that is available.

I'm on 56k, I live in Australia & you know what, this forum is faster than its ever been & I have been here a fair bit since the new board was uploaded. Even the main page which gets most of the complaints loads up fine for me. Before it took YONKS to open this site, it was damn near impossible to open different threads in like 3 or more new windows without getting some kind of time out. No even with download going at 4.5k's (my ISP has a capability of 5.5 k's per second usually) a time out had yet to happen

So it's something wrong on your end I would believe, not WCC's end. I know i have problems visiting some sites other 56 kers have no problem accessing, even while I have download's going. So yes try figuring it out, maybe its the way your browser is set up. Check your cache (temporary internet files) & browser settings.
