Why was he mentioned?

Because Lavi is asleep behind the wheel. She reached out to these people while they were selling SHTTBG EP and the Nina project.

From what I heard, before he got the position there, they didn't have anybody that knew anything about the Death Row catalog working there. They didn't even know shit about the released catalog. That's probably why those Lady of Rage songs ended up on the WideAwake website that were supposed to be from the vault and they were released and they didn't even know it. I also heard that they were going to put the Chronic 2000 version of Mr. Officer on Re-lit because they thought it was the unreleased one from the Chronic sessions.

It's my understanding that he has major input on track selection, which is a great thing because he knows the catalog better than almost everybody else and he worked for the company for a pretty long time before the bankruptcy. Say what you want about the whole FTP thing, but now he's doing the same thing and doing it legally. I'm pretty sure if he had the option to do FTP completely legal he would've gone that route, but that was impossible till now.

You guys can point fingers and shout bootlegger all day but when it comes down to it, you know you like the music they have brought us that we never would've had with these artists who for whatever reason keep their 10 year old tracks to themselves.

thank god someone actually understands, at the end of the day all these bitchez in here screaming bootlegger & all that bullshyt deep down inside jus hate cause they can't get the music anymore for free like they are used to.....its called jealousy.. ;)

or, to the sensible people, who use this thing called logic, would understand that people don't want to pay 4-8 times the price of a cd for the music from FTP.  I don't know, maybe that is just me using my logic and figuring why people would scream boolegger & all that bullshyt.  Logic...try it out some time.

BTW...people do get the music for free.  Everything that FTP has sold I have gotten for free.  So, not sure what you are trying to get at here...

I'm not really pointing fingers or anything like that. I just find it funny that she is associating with some one who basically took money out of her pocket. I mean, if you consider all the unreleased material that he sold and eventually got leaked to the public, that's a whole lot of money that people probably won't be willing to spend if she decides to release it. Not to mention a lot of this material was sold while she was in possession of the material, so it's basically saying, "Well, you stole from us, but you know more about the music, so now we'll pay you to teach us what to do with it." Feel me?

It's not my company, it's not my music, I could care less honestly. I just think it's a fucked up situation that's all.

I'm just assuming that you were directing that to me, because my post was quoted in it. However, I hope your not because you already know how I feel about the situation. I don't really care about not being able to get the music for free or not, I just wanted to make sure that the artists got a taste of the income if the chose to. Now that Lavi owns the material she is giving them that option. That's cool. That's an honorable thing to do, because she doesn't have to do that. As far as the bootlegging goes, I just thought the situation is a little screwy from a third-parties point of view. When it comes down to it, is it any of my business? No. Does it affect my personal life in anyway? No. I'm just commenting on a highly public situation and throwing in my two sense. As a consumer, all I'm really worried about is the music that they will be putting on the shelves.

I could really give of a fuck about who bootlegs what. I thought the prices were ridiculous and some of you were insane to jump on all that "spend $40 for a MP3 link and we'll send it to you when we get 50 orders" deal but to each his own. As for what they individually do, more power to them. Only real issue I had was with the one dude who clearly wanted to act like he was going to hook people up when he was just throwing out fake info.

My bad, my misunderstanding.

Look, I'll just sum up my point of view on the situation as this. If WIDEawake wants to work with the people from FTP, that's their business, not mine.

its good and bad. can you expect the songs you want to hear come out? probably for the most part. However, you know, for personal gain that the ones you REALLY want probably wont come out and will be sold behind the scenes.
