Quote from: Fist pump from hell on January 09, 2010, 11:50:26 PMCall me when Barroid throws 29⅔ straight scoreless innings in the World Series.that is such a mindblowing stat that doesn't it make you question the devlopment of the game back then?no way any pitcher is getting away with that in this day and age.i mean, the lack of training & working out & the fact they had regular jobs in the off season; i don't know, it always made me question.could Babe hit a Johan Santana? or a mid-90's Randy Johnson?Quote from: Fist pump from hell on January 10, 2010, 12:12:41 AMarguments like this are what makes Baseball >>>> any other sport.fun fact: Babe Ruth was a member of a Golf Course that is seconds away from my house.

There's no point making those comparisons. I could argue that if babe could hit Walter Johnson when training consisted of beer and hot dogs then how good could he have been if he trained like they trained to day? I don't like comparing eras. Babe is the best of his time, and if they had multiple MVPs allowed in the 20s he may have won every year.

Babe is the best of his time, and if they had multiple MVPs allowed in the 20s he may have won every year.but then i could argue Walter Johnson could have been fifteen times better if he devoted his entire life to baseball & training for the game & maybe he would never have hit him.maybe he would of, but we'll never know; so it stands Barry Bonds the GOAT.just thinking of how the game has changed but at the same time staying the same, just minor adjustments, is fascinating.
^it's a Peyton Manning thing. don't mind it lol.

I'm probably a bigger Bonds fan than I am of Ruth's. I've never cheered for Ruth. He's before my time. I'm just saying that the stats are in Ruth's favor. And it's not a should, could, woulds, thing with regards to his MVPs. You weren't allowed more than one when Ruth played. The year he hit 60, he didn't win it, because he already had it.
