The rapper comparison isn't that different.  At the end of the day, people who listen to music is basically for entertainment reasons.  People watch wrestling to be entertained.  Films are also fake, and it sells.  What's the big deal?

EVERYTHING is a fake TV show, from reality shows to those primetime crime shows to sit-coms to LOST; NOTHING is real.

once you throw a camera on someone, they aren't acting natural, not to mention shows that want you to believe it's all live, are 100% scripted.

wrestling is nothing different than any other show on TV, it's fake, but it's fighting, what's not to love?

but the action on the court/field is unscripted.

EVERYTHING else on TV is scripted.

to me, WWE is just a TV show about fighting, with a story line.

I watch wrestling for the artform; to make something fake look real and wrestling at it's very best can do that. Several times over in Japan they run shoot-style angles where they convince the viewers that the guys in the match really hate each other and will try and actually win a fight rather than just perform a match. You watch it and you wonder which moves are set up and which moves a cheap shots. That's the closest it gets to real these days.

I never watch wrestling to cheer for a guy and hope he wins all his matches and get down when he loses like I would a sports team. I do get upset when he loses like I get upset at a certain actor or director not getting an Oscar or getting nominated.

It's a fixed sport and it's not like anything else in the world.

 To each their own.  Personally, I like pro-wrestling.  Yeah, it's fake and sometimes downright cheesy.  And worse than that, sometimes the matches they book just plain piss me off.  But most of the time, I find it to be pretty entertaining television.  And like Cham said, most t.v. is scripted so that doesn't really bother me.  In fact, like most people my age, knowledge of the behind the scenes antics has become just as much a part of being a wrestling fan as the shows they put on.   
 I know I'll probably catch some heat for this, but I've never really been able to get into the whole MMA thing, even though it's actual fighting.  I'm not trying to take anything away from MMA fighters because most of them are really good athletes and have incredible fighting skills. I don't know if wrestling has ruined real fighting for me or what, but most MMA matches seem boring to me.  I have a few friends that are into watching it and every time I'm at their house watching a match, it seems like the fighters are either so good they knock out their opponent in like 15 seconds, or the fight gets called over something that doesn't seem to warrant calling the fight, or the fighters aren't as good, and seem to just try to do the same move on their opponent, over and over and over.   But again, to each their own.

in the WWE they let each other do cool moves that you physically could not do if your opponet didn't want you to & the WWE is constant action & moves & offense; where MMA you bring defense & it can get boring.
