But thing is Game baited the hook for Jay to respond so they could go back and forth and he could say he had a legendary feud with Jay. Jay said, "I see what you're doing and I'm not interested but I'd like to acknowledge that I heard you." I don't think Jay's best lyrical days are behind him but it's up for debate. Thing is Jay has nothing to gain from it. Even if he throws the hardest diss imaginable at Game, he's still making him a bigger name in doing so. Likewise, if Game gets beaten, he still "held his own with a legend". By not responding on wax, Jay can create the aura where he doesn't just answer anybody who throws shots. With 50 and Game, it was a clearly personal situation so it needed to be addressed somewhat.

Thats a bit much. Game isnt exactly a nobody in the rap game. All Jay is doing is weighing the risk and reward. In this case, the risk outweighs the reward.  Everybody knows Game is dangerous on a diss record. Jay knows he can lose that battle...he also knows he can win it. If had something big to gain out of it, he might wanna take the risk. But since he doesnt, he wont wanna get involved.
