Wasted Intro and Interlude Beats
« on: July 04, 2010, 03:44:57 AM »
I'm talking about tracks like the G-Funk intro on the 213 album and Snoop's 'Boss Would Like To See You' beat.  Sometimes I hate listening to these because it makes me realise how incredibly dope they would have been had they been rapped over properly.
Also I think the standout example is the beat at the end of the Cali Love video.  Did anyone other than The Game rap over this?  Such a good beat  8)

Anyone think of any others?

Well, the beat at the end of the California love video has been used for a California Love remix, and there is a second video for this one which is a house party.

Otherwise I think Music to Driveby on the eponymous album is the smoothest wasted beat, such a shame that they just drop shout outs and not rap or just let the instrumental play for itself

The "Hard Liquor" interlude (Game - LAX).....could've easily been the best song on that album.

Another wasted beat was the outro on Battlecat's Gumbo Roots album. :P

Ugh this thread again?

The big 3: "The Chronic Intro", "Street Gangs", and "The Boss Would Like to See You"

The "Hard Liquor" interlude (Game - LAX).....could've easily been the best song on that album.

Thats still weird that Game even included an interlude on an album, its usually straight crack all the way through. But this is a bad example because "Hard Liquor" is actually a real song.

I concur, I hoped BattleCat would do a solo on the talkbox, it would have been crazy

I know, but the version on the interlude is a little different (beat-wise)

Not taking coasts into count, overall speaking, the number 1 answer is by FAR The Chronic Intro. I know people have made loops of it and rapped on it (I think 40 Glocc was the most recent to do this), but Snoop (and even Dre) should have at least spit a short verse at the end of all the talking.
