Westcoast album of the year
« on: December 30, 2002, 09:54:06 PM »
since the end of the eyar is upon us, which album do you think was the best westcoast album of the year (not counting eminem cuz he ain't from the west coast).  I know there are many, many, many, many others that could be posted in the poll, however these albums were the most talked about, and i put both Daz albums down in one lot because "I go tlove in these streets" as an EP.  My choice goes to The Relativez.  Their album was banging from cover to cover and was one of the few cd's that were in my rotation for an extended period of time.  a close second would be WC's album, then DJ Quik's album.

Shade Sheist. I didn't hear all of those albums, but from the albums I did hear I think Sheist's album is the best.

The Relativez - The Takeover

This album didn't have one bad track, and came out of nowhere in terms of dropping dates. Also had great production and guest apperarances.

I haven't heard all of Shade Sheist, and I don't want to be an asshole or close minded, but I heard about 5 tracks from Shade's album, and even tho he usually has dope beats, I think he is sorry as a rapper, and even if I heard his album I doubt I would pick it as album of the year. Thas jus how I feel bout it.
I had to go with WC..it was hard choosin between WC and DJ Quik....Quik's album was coo but honestly I think it was his worst album ever, which isn't sayin much since his other albums are all dope. But the chorus from Gina Statuatore, Murda 1 Case, Everyday, Birds and Beez, those choruses were weak as hell to me.

Quik released the best album of the year, hands down...

Then King Tee's "Thy kingdom come", and third WC.

In my opinion it was Blackalicious - Blazing Arrow due to it's diversity in production and Gift Of Gabs performance on the mic which proved he's one of the best MC's on the West Coast right now.
