no such as a Dre beat/production. Its all about who has the bigger name, the most money and power which Dre has. He cann afford to hire ghost producers and then blackball them afterwards if they get out of line.

But back to the subject at hand:

Quik,Timbo,Neptunes, Scott Storch>>>> Dre

And to all Dre dickriders I dont want to hear that bullshit excuse of "Dre produces the records and others make the beats" because all the other producers I just named do thier own "beats" and "produce" thier own records too. Why is it that Dre is the only super producer to get away with barely doing shit on his own records?

I've heard the same shit about Timbaland and Pharrell too. Both of them take credit for other peoples work.

I have yet to hear/see any producer come out and expose timbo and pharrel tho. everybody from erotic d to daz to glove to neff u have said the same thing about Dre. Cant all be lies and speculation

Quote
Hugo has been described by The Source Magazine as the "Mr Spock" to Williams' "Captain Kirk", an analogy that does not sit well with Hugo, as he does not see himself as "stiff" like "Mr Spock". However, he does say Williams usually provides the beat (as the drummer of the duo) and most of the melodies to the Neptunes productions, whereas his role lies more in as a 'one man band' and sequencer.

Yeah, you're right but still there's been a lot of "rumors" around. I wasn't defendin' Dr. Dre though, he gets way too much credit for shit he didnt create.

what was that quote suppose to prove? Chad Hugo even says that Pharrel provides the beats and the melodies

gotta go with Johnny J. he was knocking out tracks left and right with Pac with his E-mu SP-1200 drum machine. he had a soulful vibe in most of his tracks, beats actually have substance in them and from an interview i recently heard, he actually played some of the instruments himself in his beats. very underrated producer.

heres a sample of some his greatness

After Pac hit up Dre Dre's career was basically on life support.  After Pac Died Dre came back with Eminem and the rest is history.  Dre would of never came back and had the respect if Pac hadn't died.  I remember in an interview Pac said Dre didnt even attend Snoops murder Trial because he was too busy and that if he had Snoops case would of been a lot easier because the accuser had said Dre was in the car.
Dre's career wasn't damaged by the Pac disses. He had left Death Row and was forced to start over from scratch. If Pac hadn't died, he would have eventually moved past the beef and gone in a different career direction himself.

I think the following producers have a great ear for music in hip hop. Not saything they are the best, just that they make great music. If I was making my own album and could pick and choose my producers, all these guys would be on my list.

DJ Quik
Timbaland
1500 or Nothing
DJ Khalil
Johnathan "JR" Rotem
Hi-Tek
Nottz
Cool & Dre

Timbaland uses coproducers most of the time as well. So does Kanye.

very true, that ray luv album is a classic....same with mac dre - young black brotha, mac mall - illegal business, mac mall - untouchable, dubee - self-titled......khayree is actually producing mac mall's new album, so u know shits guna be bangin. legendary producer.

bouli77

mac mall - untouchable

wasn't produced by Khayree... the album was put out on Relativity records and Khayree only produced 2 tracks for that album I think...

Forever Hustlin, Illegal Business, Dubee AKA Sugawolf and Black N dangerous (Young Lay) are his best work IMO. blackalation was a dope compilation too, that "back to my mission" joint was fire.

what separates K hayree from the others is his incredible versatility. not only does he do it all (mixing, engineering, producing, playing) he has also this habit of changing completely the beat during the track (cf. Mac Mall's Sick Wit Tis or Young Lay's Gotta Survive).

can't believe dude produced stuff for Vanilla Ice while he was doing music with Strictly Business & YBB, doesn't make sense to me... what's worse is that it might be his only plaque (along with the New Jersey Drive OST).

but Khayree fucked up on a business side imo, i don't know the specifics but dude had first Mac Dre who had a huge buzz then Mac Mall who had a huge buzz + a major deal with atlantic records too and didn't do much... he went separate ways with Mac Mall and after Dre was released out of jail he dissed Khayree (and Mac Mall) in his song Macstabbers. Khayree even admitted being an egotistic mf in a trailer i saw on youtube.

what's paradoxical is even though i love Mac Dre's early stuff with Khayree (especially the Young Black Brotha EP), I think Stupid Doo Doo Dumb is his best album. which brings me to another underrated producer, K-Lou. K-Lou is one of the most overlooked producers from the West and I get that since he's from Richmond which isn't really  the most visible spot on the map but still I think he's easily one of the very best to do it.

yea...but the khayree production on "untouchable" was great. "crestside" is some of mac mall's best shit.

k-lou is also extremely underrated....whats he up 2 nowadays?
