art put me up on dom thru his mixes

His instrumental game, the way it was concocted (the freshness) should b a lesson for up and coming producers.  They don't have to bite it but he took an older sound and made it fresh all over again.

Arthur good looking out on acknowledging some real talent out the west and thank you for putting Dom in your mixtapes.
This forum is so stuck in an old sound and can't evolve outside Dre or snoop like in that other thread wishing for some old projects to come out that will never happen. My thing is keep the west moving by getting behind new artist with some real talent and repping them.
I feel the only reason Kendrick got that buzz right now is because Dre is behind him. Not saying he ain't dope without him but let's face it, he wouldn't have the same buzz if he was sill K.Dot dropping mixtapes. He would be another LA rapper with talent coming out the west.
If I were to add Dr dre to this thread tittle it would many more views just with that overrated name alone. Shit is real sad bruh, keep it movin westward.

but that's becuz Producers and Rappers from LA think everybody still wants to hear that Post-Chronic 2001 Circa 2003 sound and they're absolutely completely fucking wrong (*i said that so calm and eloquently just now*).  i hate to tie in threads sometimes but it's just like i was saying in that "dre and snoop break ups..." thread.  NOBODY is checking for that "west coast banger", nobody cares.  it's almost 2013 and niggaz are still making interchangable records today for the year 2002.

i still can't believe some niggaz actually think people still wanna hear that shit.  it's not so much the "Dr. Dre co-sign" anymore, it's what the people have come to expect from LA and as soon as you hear "a new artist out of Cali" you automatically think "westcoast banger" beats and kobe hooks, it's horrible.

atleast with Dom Kennedy he put a FRESH (legitiment) twist on it and it sounds good (and in alot of cases better than some of the older shit).  E40's music gets played becuz it's hot and it has shit to do with his legacy (well, u can say that), same with Too $hort.  That Bay Area sound isn't half bad even tho it wears on u.  When it comes to LA all u get is tha same plate of food from 12 years ago and it's corny.  People EXPECT that from LA becuz that's all u niggaz out there ever do and that's y'all fault more than anybody elses.  truth be told y'all turn niggaz off before y'all turn people on

Whenever I post threads for new mixtapes & songs from Dom but they only get like 2 replies MAX. Which basicly means that this forum doesn't give a shit about Dom Kennedy.
Although TBH I don't like Dom Kennedy. I've given his songs many a try but I've yet to come across one that made me say "this shit is dope," and I'm usually very easy to impress. The closest he ever came to impressing me was on OPM which didn't last a week in my iPod.

LOL at saying we're too stuck in the past and then bringing up Dom.

The reason I like Dom Kennedy more than any other new West act is that his sound is the closest of all the new acts I've heard to the classic Westcoast sound from the 90s that we all love.

But, yeah, Dom is great -- knows how to pick a beat and ride it with panache.  And his lyrics are serious enough for me that he doesn't sound ignorant or offputting unlike a lot of obnoxious new acts.  And, mostly, he just seems to keep it real.  I will agree that The Yellow Album was a disappointment, though, but still it had some great tracks.  His best stuff is the two FWWL albums and 100% Dom.
"Detox" is a myth -- Bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster, Area 51, Iraq having WMD, Detox...you get it now?  It was invented by the Aftermath marketing department to maintain the fans' attention.  Notice how everytime a new Aftermath album is ready to come out, they always mention Detox is next up?  Because they are using the invention of "Detox" as a way to market other albums.  The sooner you realize that Detox is NOT REAL, the sooner you'll feel liberated.  Oh yeah, f.u. Aftermath for fooling us fans.

The Yellow Album was my soundtrack to the summer. Dom Kennedy along with TDE and Nipsey Hussle is the only West Coast acts I listen to now.

Dom's lyricism is mediocre but his delivery and flow is nice and his beat selection is just amazing. He just makes great music overall and that's why I bump all his mixtape/albums.
