Terrace Martin is the next DJ Quik [Proof Inside]
« on: September 16, 2012, 09:36:28 PM »
Here's the proof y'all:

Something Special:

In The Sky:

This is beautiful music. Terrace Martin will be as good as DJ Quik one day...and that day may have arrived. They're by far the two best producers active in the game right now. Nobody is making tracks like them.

He needs to find his Robert Bacon/G-One to add the missing pieces to his music. Most of the times Terrace drops so-so stuff.

terrace martin is overrated. sure his songs sometimes sound nice, but he's not a top producer as we speak. quik dropped heat and classics as soon as he got in the game. he'll never be like quik.

idk bout that brah! quik is the name is IMO a super overated early 90's westcoast album. it definitely had classic songs on it but overall was not that great! Dollaz & senze will forever be his magnum opus.

I agree with you. Quik before Safe & Sound is not that great. Some nice tracks, some nice beats, but I don't think Quik reached his mature style until Safe & Sound. After that, Quik was flying.

Terrace Martin's problem is that he has too many personalities. I think he should stick to making music like what's on Here My Dear and The Sex EP. Enough people do gangsta shit and hard beats. Terrace should stick to making that smooth and beautiful music that only he can do so well.

These are the kinds of songs Terrace should stick to:

Hello (f/ Quik, Kurupt, J-Black):

Making Fucking Love:

Hennessy, Hot Chips, Godiva:

Makings of You:

If Terrace just released albums full of songs that sounds like these for the rest of his life, he would blow up and never make a weak track again. The quality of music in these songs contends with anything from Quik.

terrace martin is frustrating, i agree with you... i love when he does smooth songs like "things for you", "the makings of you", "never stop loving you", "go get it", "climax". If he did an album full of songs like this i'd buy it for sure, but he's trying to hard to be versatile and that's his downfall IMO. i didn't really like his album. i don't like his rapping but that's subjective though.

Terrace Martin is a producer I thought 5 or 6 years ago had major potential to blow up but hes never lived up to the hype IMO...Dont get me wrong he still makes some nice tracks, but I always used to think this guy would end up being an elite producer in the game.

These are cool tracks homie, but this music isn't anything like Quik's and Martin's. What I'm talking about is that smooth G-Funk shit, that talkbox shit, that real musical laid-back cool shit. These beats you post are all too hyped and hard. Cool stuff but nothing like Terrace Martin and DJ Quik.

yea, ur right....but terrace is pretty diverse and he does make hard hittin bangers like the ones i posted. same with quik. i get what u sayin, tho. their go-to-style is that jazzy/funky smooth shit. in that case, no one can see quik in that regard. maybe khayree, but he hasnt produced a classic in a minute.

Terrace Martin did some good thangs but he can't produce any album like "Safe & Sound" or "Street Gospel".
DJ Quik was a little genius (and he wasn't the only one from his generation).
